My sales rep gave me a bag to try, the dogs loved it and seemed to be doing well on it, but I couldn't stand the smell (smelt like milk gone off )

I am sure I saw some Timid Joe's on my travels - in a pet store somewhere while I was doing some retail therapy. Is it a specific IOD shampoo that you love the smell of? When my puppy arrived following a long journey she still smelt really good so I contacted the breeder to find out what she used (Aloveen). Nice smell to have under your nose when sharing a bed. Timid Joe still very much available, I have a few older people that come in to buy it, younger ones don't know about it and generally won't use a cake of soap. It is great on dogs with itchy skin, after all people use Coal Tar shampoos for psoriasis, sometimes the old remedies are the best. Any one know if you can still get Rawleighs Salve, "good for man and beast" I seem to remember was its catch cry.

I've always found with my kelpies if they ever look a bit light on I just feed them Advance and they stack on the weight very quickly. I recently had a customer with the same problem, told her about this so she tried it with her dog and within a month it is looking a better weight without being too heavy. Also ox chhek is great as it has a higher fat content.

What a great idea.. They are a great concept, lovely fabric, generous sizings. I've sold heaps of them, with even more people saying that they will come back for one when in need of new bed (or when they are ready to clean out the wardrobe).

For the sake of prettyness and making it look more like a genuine product. I don't think it will make the product cost more.. they changed it over quite a while ago. I beleive it was due to at least one other company putting their food into a white bag and labelling Lamb & Rice Holistic (but not being the same ingredients) so BH had to differentiate itself from the others trying to cut in. They have not increased the wholesale price.

And the kid makes 43 :D Let alone the food bill, what about the poo pick up!

A Couple Of Fatties. Need Suggestions!
Austerra replied to pebbles's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As korbin13 said make sure all the family understand not to feed anything apart from restricted meals. When I worked at kennels many years ago the owners had two old house dogs (Cavs) that were as fat as mud, we were down to feeding them about a dessertspoon of food to no effect. Then the owner realised that the sweet biscuits were disappearing very quickly from the pantry and accused her daughters of eating them too quickly, they said they hadn't been at them, so after bit of surveillence it was found that the owner's elderly mother (who had alzheimers) was hiding the packets of biscuits in her handbag, that was always next to her chair, and feeding the cavs with them. From then on bickies were up on the highest shelf!! -
My pleasure, any time I can help just get in touch. Funny that your friend was already one of my customers, like you said it is a small world.

The coat is stripped to keep the texture and promote the new hair growth. If grooming for pet most people just end up having them clipped, hand stripping can be expensive to get done at a groomers, so if this is what is wanted it is worth learning how to do it. We usually charge $50 - 55 for a cairn clip, stripping is charged by the hour (usually works out about $100 or so including bath).
-
You'd probably find that most show people would roll the coat, so you are basically plucking out the longer hairs all the time. When you are on the move sometime I could show you the basic process on my Aussies, just ring me at the shop (ie BH supplier) and I can arrange a day to make sure dogs are with me.

Missymoo may help you on this, should be hand stripped.

Yorkshire Terrier / Australian Silky Terrier
Austerra replied to krissi's topic in General Dog Discussion
What about an Australian Terrier, more robust with children and the other dog but also affectionate. Coat probably a lot easier to care for too. -
My first dobe cost me $80 in the late 1970's
