  1. VALE - Great Dane - Grand Champion Liebendane The Last Straw (AI) aka Noah Condolences Sue, all our love and thoughts, a gentleman at rest, Leanne and Noah's little mate Buster
  2. Cans aren't affected by the new AQIS requirements. My Hills rep was in last week, some lines starting to dribble through now (mainly feline and some lines of canine) and over the next few weeks but Easter will interrupt the flow of course.
  3. quote: Professionally operated pet retail stores provide informed advice in matching pets with owners. Pet retail stores demonstrate a duty of care to both the pets and potential owners – so the right animal is selected for the conditions in which a family lives. HAH!!! Maybe when they all start employing people with decent experience, especially in breed specifics such as temperament, grooming and hereditary problems particular to the breed of dog they are selling, and encourage purchasers to go away and research if the breed is going to be suitable for them (for possibly the next 15 yrs) before allowing the impulse purchase to continue then there may be some headway made in pet retailers selling responsibly. But it all still comes down to indiscriminate breeding for profit.
  4. Funny how ANKC registrations for last year were approx 66,000, as supercharged says anyone "breeding" dogs seem to be lumped together. http://www.ankc.org.au/National-Registration-Statistics.aspx
  5. Pooches 'N' Cream whitening shampoo does the job well but can be bit harsh for some dogs
  6. I'd invite her to try it herself... Then she'll find out how "little" work is involved. Add $10 to the price for the "challenging customer service fee". If they brushed the bloody dog regularly he wouldn't need to be clipped. I'd never make it as a dog groomer because I'd not be able to resist the urge to point that out. Why DO people buy long haired dogs if they're not prepared to groom them. Haha, when I worked in accounting we used to charge "P&S" to certain clients ie Pain & Suffering!
  7. This dog isn't matted at all they just want it clipped off to keep it cool and easy to manage, it is old and fat, hence does suffer on even a mildly warm day.
  8. She has been in many times before, as we keep computer records I was able to tell her that she had been charged the same amount of $75 for full clip inc bath, dry and nails previously, other times when only $60-65 was only bath and tidy, price depending on condition on day. She suddenly seems to think it should be cheaper to clip a dog all over rather than brush it out! In her words "You are just running the clippers over the whole dog, it's not like you are doing a lot of work on it!"
  9. What would groomers out there charge for a Golden Retriever (big and old) to have a complete clip off? Just wondering as I had a customer complain about price we charged, which is the average price we usually charge for a full clip on a dog of this size, most think we are very reasonable and it isn't this dogs first visit!
  10. Yep mita, it didn't matter what I said to him, there was just no changing this blokes mind..I only hope he has trouble finding a stud dog, but I'm sure unfortunately there is probably an unethical breeder out there looking for some extra cash that will give him what he wants. Just be grateful that there are very few Aussie breeders (especially in Vic) and the ones that I know would probably hang and quarter this guy before they would let him use their stud dogs.
  11. Found it after I asked, for some reason wasn't showing on my screen when I first posted.

  20. The dalmation was Marshall's Pebbles, with the Dachshund taking out the win.
  21. Both my Aussies are from Qld, we flew up to get Buster as I wanted to choose for myself (4 males in litter) and he came back with us as excess baggage at 8 wks, then with Sheila I just got the breeder to pop her on a flight and we picked her up from airport at this end, she was 9 wks as the breeder hadn't been able to arrange earlier as she is quite a distance from Brisbane airport.
