  1. My only dislike of a particular type of dog is its coat. I have a phobia of wire haired coats, I know that sounds weird and it probably is, but I can't stand to touch them. My daughter had an Australian Terrier, it looked wire haired, so I never touched it....but after having to touch her I was totally shocked to realise her coat was so soft and smooth I just had no idea, and I always patted her after that. It was the look of it. I guess I love about 99% of dogs. Besides the coat, I look at the behaviour more, as to whether I like them or not, but thats a personality of the dog I like or dislike, not the breed. Lynn
  2. My Pug does the same. He looses it in clumps, not little bits, and he looses that much I think he must be going bald. But nope he has more fur underneath  The worst parts are his hindquarters. You can actually just pull it out in clumps, its that loose....but he likes to leave it all over the house. So now I use a Furminator....its scary to see the amount of fur loss on such a small dog, but he loves it. Lynn
  3. In the picture with Bruce stealing Berts bone....the look on Berts face says to me...."What all I get is the damm ball?" I love the pictures, thanks....but you have to keep putting updates and new pics in here....Ok? Lynn
  4. My heart dog was a Rotti, she would let anyone into the back yard, you never saw her until you had entered inside. But she would never let you leave  She was the most protective dog I have had, as well as my GSD puppy. Now as for my Pug, he would never be any help, he doesn't even bark. But so long as the burglars brought food, he'd never snitch on anyone I hope you are feeling better OP. Lynn
  5. I put retired too, but I am not able to work as I am disabled and I am a carer for my 22yr old daughter. I think the 3 main questions best asked are: Gender Age State you live in. I don't see how employment status applies in a demographic, to get an over all idea of who comes in here. Lynn
  6. I think it is you that is trying to manipulate the situation. You want a pet, you agree to get a pet. Then you change your mind and want to show and breed....if I was the breeder I would have walked away from you then and there. But she agreed with conditions, and still you are not happy... Make sure you stick to what you want before buying another puppy....saves the breeder pulling out and possibly warning other breeders not to deal with you. It has nothing to do with you being single....its your chopping and changing your mind, and not knowing what you want that stopped the sale of the puppy. Lynn
  7. I love the colours of the pugs on that web site Anne, thanks for showing it. Your right it is interesting to read. Lynn
  8. He is gorgeous. I owned a female Rotti who was absolutely identical to your boy in every way. She was papered with Champion Bloodlines, and he looks pure to me and I can't see any other breed in his makeup either. I have known several Rotti males look on the finer side, like your boy, but they filled out beautifully once they got past the teenage years. Only time will tell. He is really handsome ;) Lynn
  9. I'm laughing at that mental image At least once Alvin has been put into line, he'll be so grateful to to back home and King of the Castle he'll always be good....yeah right Lynn
  10. I have watched it a few times, and each time its very emotional....even though I know the ending. I have heaps of Dog movies, George (St Bernard), Hotel for Dogs, Homeward Bound 1&2, The Ugly Dachshund, Dog Father, The Doberman Gang, The Return of the Doberman Gang, Must Love Dogs to name a few ;) I would love the movie Haitch(?) with Richard Gere, but I am sure its upsetting too. Lynn
  11. I've never seen or heard of one, which of course doesn't mean one doesn't exist, but I think this is not available. Good Luck though Lynn
  12. OK from what I have gathered so far... OP bought a male, with a contract saying the breeder could collect him anytime for the day for breeding purposes. After 3 weeks the breeder collected the dog and tried to sell it, then when they couldn't, gave it to another home. The breeder offered OP another puppy, but OP wanted her dog back. But breeder stopped contact. OP then took it to court, where the breeder lost her license to breed. Still no refund for OP. I hope I got that right ;) Lynn
  13. I so hope Alvin turns up....I agree it must be another of Alvins little if only he could talk the things he could tell Check with councils, pounds, RSPCA, all vets in and around the areas. He might have been picked up, and dropped off on someones way home....so might not be in your area but theirs. I always worry about someone taking my dogs, I know if Archie went missing, he is so happy to be any ones he wouldn't care so long as he was fed....it scares the hell out of me. Lynn
  14. I agree talking to the female neighbour is the only way to go....unfortunately an abuser of pets is the first sign of a human abuser. I'm thinking if this woman knows about her partners hot temper, and I am in no doubt she does, then she might not want to raise the subject with him, as he probably scares her too....if he isn't abusing her yet, he soon will be. Abusers are great at picking on the ones that are the least likely to fight back hence the dog. I'd have a word with the woman, but I honestly don't think its going to do any good....lets just hope the partner doesn't decide to move in next door Lynn
  15. Just a question, is it the same for dogs as it is for humans...that when you loose one of your senses the others become more heightened? I once owned a deaf kitten, a pure white one, but you would never have known, as she did everything like she could hear. Just got me thinking Lynn
  16. Now its up there. Its wonderful to watch, and no you wouldn't know she was blind, even the careful step over the clam shell edge is done without tripping. Thank you Lynn
  17. Has the video been removed? Nothing is there when I open this, even when I refresh it. Lynn
  18. Wanna' swap? He's no trouble... really. I have read of your little black angel *cough cough* antics. I think I'll stick with the adorable, cute, smart, nutty Archie.... But thanks anyway Lynn
  19. Like Clyde, as soon as I read your title I knew he would be a black Pug I thought about getting a black one.....but it was a fleeting thought and I got a fawn instead Good Luck your going to need it, you can vent away at all his antics in the Pug section, its very one sided on the colours.... Lynn
  20. The cats sleep in the laundry at night. Archie sleeps in a crate in the lounge room. We all sleep in our own beds Lynn
  21. Here is Archie These were taken today. Lynn
  22. I always had collars and tags on my dogs unless being bathed but after i almost had one strangled they only wera collars when out htey are microchipped though This. My girls don't wear collars at home, due to the fact that I'm worried about then strangling themselves on the tubular fence by getting their collar hooked in it, plus being coated breeds it ruins their coat. Like you, they are microchipped though. Actually this can happen, my lappie's microchip didn't scan at the vet a few weeks back. Turns out it's moved down her leg slightly so was hard to find. You're right, microchips are missed A LOT. Please do not rely on any form of ID other than looking for your dog at the pound/s. Human error means people can miss them and sometimes they can move down too far and cannot be detected. Our vets are great when they scan our two cats and Archie they always check everywhere on the animal, they are always saying the microchips seem to migrate to different locations. Its nice and comforting to know they do this. I know some only check the back and if one isn't picked up its 'obviously' not microchipped.... Lynn
  23. I had my pedigree, microchipped, female escape our back yard....in 5 years she never jumped the gate, I just thought she couldn't as it was 4ft high, but she did. We rang everywhere, we were finally told she was at the dog catchers home....so we drove out there (small country town), and there was our girl sitting at the bathroom door, waiting for the dog catchers little girls to come out and play. The dog catcher said she was a beautiful dog and so friendly and loved the kids, which she was and more. I explained to the dog catcher I was her owner and Jessie was microchipped, her face just dropped. She then reluctantly checked and double checked I was her owner she said if they didn't find her owner they would have kept her I don't think she had any intention of checking the microchip at all.....I'm just so lucky we found her when we did. Also I too would be reluctant to send any animal to the pound here. Their turn over rate is quick. The local vets get a bonus for all the animals they PTS. Its the only way they have been making a living, as their reputation as vets have gone down hill through lack of care about animals. They prefer PTS as a solution rather than trying to help. I'm just so glad Jessie didn't end up at the pound Lynn
  24. Here are my other two. Aussie Bulldog Annie aged 6 weeks (photo care of the breeder) Annie about 5 months old. She was PTS at 11 months as she was riddled with cancer. Jessie my first Aussie Bulldog aged 8 weeks: Jessie aged about 5 years old. She was also PTS 3 years later with stomach cancer. Lynn
