  1. ;) :p Thats fantastic new. My fingers are crossed for you ;) how exciting... Bluefairy
  2. I agree its so frustrating. We live in the country, in a small town, the dog next to us never barks but when he does we wonder if he's ok, he looks like a staffy X. The people over the road have a kelpie, never hear from her, but she is penned in the back and only comes out for walks and for rounding up the sheep. People at the side of us have 2 greyhounds, they love to wag their tails and run up and down wanting you to play, but never bark.... But down the road they have a Blue Heeler this dog is always allowed to roam around its house without fence or lead. If you walk past it runs at you, I hate the the thing. The owner used to be our local Primary School teacher.....so much for making an example of the laws Bluefairy
  3. Aww anytime, I'm always here....well not usually between 6pm and 8am. But I'll wait with you all the way. At least we can talk about getting a pup, we have something to look forward to, some of these already have their surprise, so their excitement in the wait has gone. Bluefairy
  4. FD26 ~ He is so cute, love the little white paw Goldiegirl ~ Thanks about the crate, vebopet advertise on Ebay :D but to deliver its $32 here....I am watching on on ebay now, it goes off tonight....here's hoping I'm not into pink either, I went through 10 years of pink as it was my last daughter's favourite colour, now she is into black and red and anything Gothic :D but the pink has since grown on me Well not much happening here.....I have some items coming in the post....but I'm still waiting eagerly for them ;) Bluefairy
  5. With all my other dogs I had never heard of crate training. The good old newspaper on the floor and being on edge while the pups are in the house was a nightmare and seemed to take forever....last pup took 5 months to TT..... For my next dog I will definitely be crate training.....I have read so many good things and no bad. So I am going to give it a go. Ellz, you could class the four outside walls of a house as a crate if you wanted to, the inside walls and doors are just sectioned off parts of the same crate.....I don't see it as the same thing as confining a dog to a crate or house, or even a back yard. A crate is too small to compare it to anything else. Bluefairy
  6. Kritaljay ~ Can we have pics of your BB please I love BB's. I have taken some pictures of my Zoe stash I usually chose Red or black for colours but I have gone pink this time. I even got a Rogz Pupz collar and lead....so cute with Roxi. I even had to get the Mr T teddy, Frenchies like stuffed toys. Now I am sourcing out a crate. Ummm does anyone know where you can get them online? I have a couple in my watchlist on ebay....just not sure whether to buy from there or not. Bluefairy
  7. Good job dogs can't tell time sorry I just had to mention it. Dogs have no form of time, so they won't know if your an hour later than normal. I think it would be fine to go to the gym. Just be careful he doesn't get bored or he will become destructive. Is there anyone you can have nip in to check on him? Or do you have someone you can ask to have him for the day? Just so his days are broken up so they are not always spent so much on his own. Good Luck Bluefairy
  8. Thank you all so much, Ok I'll definitely get the 76cm or 30" crate I don't intend moving it, well its not something I plan doing :D I have a harness and seat belt attachment so the Frenchie can sit between my 2 girls on the back seat (must remember to get a blanket for the back seat ) if we take her anywhere. But then again it might be something that comes up, so its better its a smaller crate for sure. Wow now I can stop stressing about this....I am a walking stress ball....probably why I have a bad heart Thanks again. Bluefairy
  9. Thanks, JulesP ~ Can you show me a pic of your 76cm crate with one of your dogs for comparison? I don't have anywhere here that sells them so I can look at one in real life and check it out. When I get one it will have to be online. Thanks Blurfairy
  10. Thank you for your replies I wanted to get a wire crate, as it still gets warm in the house even with the aircon and fans on, so really too warm for a soft crate. All the web sites I have checked out say for a Frenchie, a 76cm one is the right size as an adult. The breeder says she uses 107cm ones for her Frenchies, but I'm inclined to think this is too big and they will use one end for a toilet. I can get a 76cm one with a partition piece for pups, or the 92cm one without one. I checked out a padded bed thats 76cm in length and it looks a great size, the 95cm one looked way too big Bluefairy
  11. Thanks for the pics, and your pup is gorgeous, I love how everything is portioned equally I'm still undecided about a crate size.....for French Bulldogs....I breeder gets the big 107cm ones, but everywhere else they say to use a 76cm one.....now thats a huge size difference and a huge price difference.... What do you think? I found one thats 92cm....half way kind of, but not sure. I don't want to spend the money and know I wasted it Bluefairy
  12. It might be worth a try, but most dogs when sleeping, especially when its warm like to stretch out. So buying an igloo might make it too warm a place to stay. What about just buying a padded mattress bed, some have sides on them, and this might encourage your dog from hiding, or not Lynn
  13. JulesP ~ Can you give us a picture of your pen from Bunnings? We don't have a Bunnings here, the nearest one is 250km south, so next time I'm in the city. I'm glad you pup is so easy going, lets hope the rest of the time and training is as easy All the new puppies....awww pics are a must have people..... I am supposed to be doing an assignment, can't you see I am studying and typing it out???? this is what I do most of the time, hitting my head on a brick wall.....atm I'm just NOT in the mood...ho hum I better go do some or I'll get behind. Bluefairy
  14. Hi Keyarna, And welcome to the club I love Grissom as a name....but I love the show too when you get pics of your pup its a law here you must post them or be forever hounded by us for pics....Ok Time is dragging for me, everyday I think about pups and everyday it drags on......I'm not the most patient person Bluefairy
  15. I guess it appears we are always excited as its our little baby growing up plus we experience every minute of their lives 24/7. Whereas the breeder must get a lot of puppies come and go over years and trying to keep track of every one would be mind boggling. I think it will always be we are more excited about everything than the breeder is....though most of them have been in our shoes once or twice themselves, so understand. I hope I get a breeder I feel comfortable with and not intimidated by....which is what usually happens when I meet strangers....even other peoples children make me feel this way....I guess thats why I prefer dogs and cats, they tend to except me for me and never expect too much. And yes it is soo exciting, I can feel your excitement in your posts and its contagious Bluefairy
  16. FD26 ~ That is so sad, and a very painful lesson to learn. What shame, her brother doesn't think she may like to see how the pup is doing.... One of the breeders of one of my dogs, wasn't that fussed if I gave an update or not. They didn't seem to care, which of course made me ask myself why I was even bothering. So it goes both ways I guess. Though this breeder was a first timer, and the pup didn't even look like the breed I paid $1,000+ for, but I was assured by others sometimes they don't fill out until 18 months to 2 yrs.....but its something my OH and I questioned all along.....she looked like a cross. Plus she had health issues which the breeder was very blase' about it.....I'd never go through that again. Hence my wanting a recommended breeder, I don't want to make that mistake again. Bluefairy
  17. Ellz ~ Yes it is like waiting for the ultimate present, you know you'll get one, but you never know when. Then when you do know you count the days off. I'm like your buyers always at the computer for news or updates....but we forget the breeder can be very busy and maybe not able to get to the computer until later that day or the next But at least you know how excited we are to be getting a pup, and the longer you wait the more wanted they are I think. I went on a spending spree today I bought: Kong Rope Ball Hippo Squeaky Toy A mat to put the food and water bowl on. A pet bed A rubber hand mitt for brushing I am sourcing out a crate.....I keep getting told a 76cm one, but a Frenchie breeder has 107cm one and said they are better if they are bigger. I kind of thought they were supposed to be a certain size so they dont have room to go toilet in it ( enough room to sit, stand and turn around and lay down)......I'm confused. I don't know what to get now! :D Any help is much appreciated????? Thanks PS Michelle ~ With the longer haired dogs I get the collars that aren't too thick. If you get the thick ones the dog ends up with fur pointing in two different directions, up and down if they are too thin they might get the fur tangled in it. So just get a medium one. When just being around the house I don't use a collar at all. I only put the collar on when taking them out in the car or for a walk.
  18. How exciting....its getting closer....its great the breeder is keeping you so informed. You feel pushy if you have to keep asking all the time for any information....well I do. And huge congrats to everyone else counting down on their fur babies arrivals.....ho hum....so looking forward to one day it being me.
  19. Poor thing. I too see many dogs and cats in the same situation, they struggle to walk and just lay there most of the time.....I am often gobsmacked at how any owner cannot see for themselves that their dog is grossly overweight!!!!! I agree its animal cruelty to allow this.
  20. Thanks for the pictures Jess. Hubby and I have decided to get the slightly bigger crate, more room for the dog as an adult to move around in. I now just need to find a pet bed to fit inside it, if not some blankets. I now have for my future pup Harness Seat Belt attachment Puppy Lead Puppy Collar Kong Wubba Ceramic Bowls (from my last pup) Stuffed toy (Frenchies love sleeping with soft toys) New mat for the raised bed (my last pup ate the old mat) Probably over the top but I love spoiling my pets
  21. My animals have always gone to bed when we do....about 11pm. I wake at 6:30 - 7am.
  22. I love it, and it appears as though Wally likes his new look too....but tell hubby that making your existing dog look like a pug, doesn't mean you can't get one....
  23. awww thank you I might set up one of those tickers.....I'll set it for 6 months then add or take it away if its quicker or longer. Thanks. Question: Are any of you crate training your pups? I have never used a crate, but have heard so many good things about them. So this time I might get one and try it out. They reckon you can toilet train a puppy in a couple of days to weeks compared to my method of using newspapers. I am sourcing out crates now, and have found a perfect one at Deals Direct. Its 76cm x 58cm x 61cm, its about $59. It has two doors one at the end and one on the side. It has a plastic slide out tray for easy cleaning, and the people who have bought it have recommended it as great. Sounds good to me.....just need the spare money. I did it, took a couple of tries to get the code right looks good
  24. Hi again, Jess ~ I am the same, I have to wait a longer time than you and I am also buying bits and pieces here and there. Some are from my previous pup, others I got rid of so have to buy again. We had planned on not having any more animals.....but you know what its like...too lonely without them. I am getting my crate off Deals Direct for $59, most of the others I've seen are way more expensive than I thought they were. KritalJay ~ I had my list down to a British Bulldog or French Bulldog. I had already owned 2 Aussie Bulldogs. But size made the deciding factor and we are getting a Frenchie. I wanted more of a lap dog....well one that fit on your lap easier ;) I hope when you get your pups you come back and show them off? As I'll still be here for a while
  25. Black and Gold Black as Night White Blaze on Black I can't think of anything else. I'll be back if I do....its harder than you think
