Nicola ~ It takes 2 working days for money to go through online. As you did it after 4pm it is more than likely not going to go into the breeders account until Monday or Tuesday. It is never longer than this, if its still not there then ring you bank to find out why. BF

Nicola ~ Puppy shopping is as great as baby shopping.....all the things you see you want for your little one....but will the budget stretch to that 4 poster bed you saw in that up market store???? Lily ~ I agree, things happen for a reason and we were talking about this this morning, how Zoe was born about a week after Annie died. Then all the ups and downs since then and different breeders, and hassles etc, then out of the blue this pup gets offered to me and it all now fits into place.....its amazing. The breeder has also told us if we want to go away anytime, they will board Zoe for us.....how great is that? Michelle ~ We are all nuts. Breeders I think are happier to see someone ask a million questions, than ask none. At least they know you care enough about Georgia to ask. I want to ask millions of questions too, but my breeder is having trouble with their internet and she is getting married on Saturday.... so she's a little pre-occupied I think I have been puppy proofing my place, there's less stuff around than I thought. We have an island table in the middle of the kitchen that has open shelves, I have just cleaned all the loose boxes, DS games, Sandwich Bags, Teabags, etc off the shelves and put them elsewhere. So now the only thing on there is 2 large baskets for the potatoes and onions, and the slow cooker, pizza oven and electric frypan. So not much to do now. Well I better go. BF

I'm back, Thank you everyone. My daughter ended up having to have a blood transfusion today as her Hemoglobin was 67.....not sure whats its supposed to be. They said if she didn't have it the dizziness and falling over would continue for 2-3 weeks until her blood count rose.....she is feeling a lot better though and isn't in much pain anymore. She is expected home later this afternoon or tomorrow. She scared the hell out of me, I kept thinking no one could lose that much blood and still live.....I told her she is only ever allowed to scare me once like that in my life time. She has now done that and is not allowed to do it again Nicola~ Your BC is gorgeous, so fluffy and I love the name Oreo. Lauren ~ I got my Wubba at an online pet store. Oz Pet Shop http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.p...roducts_id/1702 I bought this with my Rogz collar and lead. I have bought lots of things from there, as we don't have shops here that sell these, if we want them its a trip into town or wait and do a big shop in the city. Its just easier by post. Niques ~ Don't feel guilty we have all done something similar. I remember the other month, I was walking out the laundry and the cat was crossing my path at the exact same time and I ended up hitting her with my leg and she slid across the floor. Thank heavens it was lino and slippery. She wasn't hurt but that scared me, but the cat still does it. I bought a wire play pen for Zoe (must remember to use her name not pup), it is 8 panels big, which is quite large, I set it up in the lounge and I put it up around the cat, she was trying to grab the panels as they moved each time I fixed another one on. I got it from GO-LO they are $45 today, and on sale tomorrow for $40. It is very sturdy, and great for a puppy. Luckily Pugs aren't that great a jumper, so it might last a while. I wanted it to take with us if we travel, just so I can put Zoe in it if we are outside, saves her having to be on a leash. As for food. My breeder uses Eagle Pack Puppy Biscuits.....which I can't get here, I searched everywhere today. So I will buy a bag when we pick her up and slowly change her over to Super Coat Puppy, as this is the best dog food I can get here. I hate Chum and Pal. Even our cat loves Super Coat for cats. She's fussy so it must be good I still haven't puppy proofed my house.....I haven't done much of anything, because of my Daughter, but now she is better I can go back to what I was doing....clock watching and stressing that everything is ok..... BF

Thank you everyone, Some bad news, my oldest daughter, who was 11 weeks pregnant started to hemorrhage I took her to the hospital and she was rushed into theatre for a D&C. She lost consciousness while in the A&E room through loss of blood and her BP dropped.....OMG I was so scared I was going to lose her too....and the blood it was everywhere. I had to leave her when she went into theatre, but she was looking and doing so much better after 3 bags of fluids, and they will give her a blood transfusion as well. I will ring in a little while to see how she is.....I never want to go through that again. It was horrifying....it kinda leaves everything in a void....I guess I am still in shock after watching it all unfold before my eyes. Golden Girl ~ I'll let you know where I got my Wubba from in the morning. Ok gotta go. BF

I was always led to believe they are mature at 12 months.....that is body wise. Mentally, different breeds mature slower or faster. For instance a Rotti isn't usually mature mentally until 2-3 years of age. Usually a dog of 12 months won't grow any more.....unless they grow out....and become obese Hope that helps Lynn

Hi, I can help with the baby gates. I have a Safety 1st one in my hallway, that separates the kitchen, laundry and lounge from the bedrooms and bathrooms. I used this for our Aussie Bulldog and she never tried to jump it or even lean on it. I had to get an extension piece as the gate I bought wasn't wide enough from wall to wall, but I rang the company and they had one sent out for a small amount within days. The gate has been up for the last year, and even though my Aussie is no longer with us, I will use it for the our new puppy which is coming on Sunday. Our cat won't even jump over it...weird. But its been great as the Grandkids can't even get past it. It is fantastic quality and I highly recommend them. I got mine from KMart. Its all metal and very strong. Good luck. BF

Michelle, Thanks. I went into Kmarts and looked at the kids stuffed toys, I found a Christmas Teddy Bear that had sewn on eyes, and the tags I cut off. If you buy specific dog ones you'll be paying a lot more. Have a look round at different kids toys....things like, tennis balls, frizbee's, etc are great. I bought some dog toys, like the Kong ones, as they last a lifetime. I had one for my last dog, an Aussie Bulldog and she had an extremely had mouth and she could flatten a Kong by biting it, but she never broke any of it up....which really surprised us, they must be made very well. Good luck.....Oh and look around at toys in s/hand and op shops. You might find some soft toys there... BF

Thank you JaxD, It just came out of the blue, the breeder had kept a male and female puppy from her last litter, she wanted to show one of them. After a tough decision, she decided to keep the little boy.....so she offered me my little girl..... And it just happened we were in the city on the weekend, and she's home on Sunday.....so I can't stop smiling so now its a mad rush to clean house.... Yes yes yes lots and lots of pictures BF

I have some news!!!!!! I pick up my puppy on Sunday 28th March Her name is Zoe, she is an 8 week old fawn Pug. I was offered this little girl on Saturday by the Vice President of the Pug Club, I at first said no, as I had my name down with someone else, but as the girls, OH and I started talking about it, we decided if she was available to take her. And she was  We have to go into the city on Saturday for my son's wedding, and as we are staying overnight we are going down to pick her up while we are there. How exciting..... 4 sleeps until the wedding 5 sleeps until Zoe comes home Mich and Jake ~ Here is my stash I have a Kong, Wubba (a fluffy covered toy by Kong), a Dental Chew Dumb bell, A squeaky toy, a soft stuffed toy (make sure there are no eyes, tags or anything they can chew off), basket ball, cat tunnel (only for the puppy stage or small dogs ). I think thats it. BF

Jess ~ I got a bit confused reading your post, but I think I'm right in that instead of getting a puppy, you are now getting a 1yr old adult....am I right? Is he brindle or brown in colour? A huge congrats  I am so happy for you. Poppyx ~ Your pup looks so angelic with those gorgeous eyes. I love the pale colouring. BF

Lauren, I have had 3 dogs from interstate, 2 came in a crate owned by the airline, so I just took the pup. The other one, the breeder supplied the crate (one of those plastic ones, with 2 halves that snap together and has a wire cage door), this I got to take home. It was a small one but wouldn't have done her as an adult. Maybe ask your breeder if the crate is supplied by the pet transport company or the airline? BF

I agree some people use pups as a play thing, to be used and thrown away when its outgrown its usefulness.... Zensu ~ I'd be kicking my OH back if I was you BF

I just wanted to say as I have been in your friends shoes, it saddens me to know what I did might be seen as the wrong thing to do by some of you here.... I had a gorgeous pup, that looking back since we had her had always been sick on and off for the 8 months she was with us. We used all our savings....$1,000's....and blood tests, xrays, stool and urine samples, she even had exploratory surgery to see if they could find something that was causing her temp spikes, vomiting, and her feelings of misery. They found she had cancer, but didn't know where. Yes we could have taken her to the city and had specialists test her....but the illness was becoming more frequent, and she spent more time ill than happy and alert, so at 11 months of age we did what we thought was best, we had her put to sleep. Yes the money was a consideration as they said it could sore into the $10,000's and they still might not be able to help her. Money we didn't have nor could we get. When I looked into her face on the last day, a day she was in good spirits and health, I was heartbroken and didn't want to go through with it....but I knew tomorrow or the next day she would be ill again, her temp would rise and she would be miserable. I couldn't let her go through a life, though short, like that anymore. So yes sometimes unless you have walked in these people's shoes, don't judge BF ps: I didn't have pet insurance then, I didn't even know it existed, next dog is definitely getting pet insurance.

Lauren, I know what your getting at I'll say what I am using the crate for, but really its an individual thing for you and your dog. I need the crate, as I keep my cat in the laundry at night, I used to keep my last dog in there too, dog on the lower section, cat on the upper section (washing machine, table and freezer). But the cat would wake the pup up and she would cry until we got up....drove us mad. It wasn't just for wanting to go outside either. So I am using the crate for the dog in the lounge to sleep in mainly (for when she is a pup and adult) she may sleep on the beds later, but I still haven't made up my mind yet. As I have 4 grandchildren, I want to be able to have the dog in the lounge, but not bothered by the kids poking, prodding or trying to pick up the dog, so its more of a safety zone for the dog. Also there have been times when we have had workers come and do work in the house (plumber, electrician) and it would be nice to have a place to put the dog while they are walking in and out the house, and she won't get tripped over or hurt. As being put outside isn't always a good option (too cold, too hot, raining etc). I want the crate to be more a safe zone, quiet time kind of thing for the dog. I do have a larger than needed size crate, so it will do her nicely as an adult. If you only think you will only ever use it for toilet training, and not use it as they get older, then just get the smaller puppy size. But if you think you might be able to use it later, for maybe some of the reasons I have suggested then get the larger adult size. I think a crate might always come in handy at sometime in the dogs life...I have know a dog that was injured and needed restricted movement, other than the odd time out, the dog was kept confined in the crate for 2 weeks until it was better. You can also use it if you have lots of kids over and you don't want your dog jumping up (this gets me when I go to peoples places) you can crate them until they have calmed down enough (with the crate where ever all the action is of course) so they can be let out. But like I said it depends on what you want to use it for and if you can see a use for it later. As they fold down into a large briefcase size, they are easy to store away under a bed. But just knowing you have it is a blessing in itself sometimes. BF

Poppyx ~ ARGH!!! isn't it maddening when they do this, surely they would have left an inanimate object behind and took a live animal instead....its not like they can just stack it away for later.....I hope they are taking her out the crate for toilet breaks and feeding her? Hopefully she is now on her way. Mich & Jake ~ I used to trim the nails of my dogs, until I cut too close to the quick....I have never heard a dog cry to loudly and for so long. I thought I had killed her, I rang the vet and they told me to put vaseline in the nail and it will stop bleeding soon....it did but its been 15 years and I have never touched a nail clipper again. I just take the dogs to the vets, and get it done, free, when they have their boosters or when they need to go in for something else. Even they have cut too close.....I cringe when I think of it, its a horrible experience..... Fiona ~ Sorry I can't help, as I have never brought from them. I got my crate from Ebay for $36 for the crate and $20 registered post Australia wide. Its an excellent crate and came with a divider, very good quality. The ebay seller is ozdirectsell, I bid on it in an auction, not a Buy It Now one. Great value for money. Ok back to the books.....I keep saying that don't I.....oooops after I vote I mean BF

Mich & Jake ~ Georgia is gorgeous. I love the look on her face, she looks so intelligent. Poppyx ~ Good Luck today, I bet your clock watching as I type.... Costasmum ~ Thanks. I consider myself lucky actually. Because OH has reached retiring age, he has just applied for his super....so we are getting the kitchen renovated. The plans have all been done, quotes given, colours and styles picked out ages ago. But never had the money.....well we did but the erection of the garage blew our budget out the water and the kitchen had to get put on hold. So we are now going ahead with it. I have a gorgeous English oven sitting in our garage waiting to go in.....http://www.andico.com.au/productpages/falcon/classic90electric.html its the cream one with the brass knobs. The kitchen is cream and black......I can't wait for this..... Don't you hate feeling guilty about spending money? Every time we do something for the house I have not batted an eyelid about the price.....but the kitchen is all my idea and design.....but I feel guilty about the money being spent on it though its nowhere near as expensive as some kitchens I have seen.....but still...I can't help feeling bad about it. Its horrible to feel this way, just because its something you want.....or need. There I go again doing the guilt trip....story of my life. At least I have something else to take my mind off my little girl for a while.......nope that doesn't work OK thats it from me. BF

Poppyx ~ Good Luck for tomorrow Well as this breeder hasn't bothered to reply, she is now off my list. I am so glad I won't be buying a puppy from her. I don't feel bad about it now, I realise there is a problem and its not with me. I have no idea how this woman manages to sell puppies.....I feel the pup was not meant for me....and I'm grateful now it wasn't. OH cut down our Cherry Tree today....we had the biggest harvest of Cherries last year, over 10kg. They were so delicious. I wish we could have kept it, but its poisonous and so its out of our garden now. Ok back to the books BF

Lauren ~ I'm not sure on size for a larger dog, I got the 36" one for my French Bulldog, that turned into a Pug Rajacadoo ~ Congrats on the new puppy. And welcome to the thread. Lots of pics.... Poppyx ~ Well done. My dog is going to cost between $1400 to $1500 but worth every penny. I have just had contact with the breeder with the 5wk old puppy, and we both misinterpreted what each was saying and ended up in a heated discussion I hate emails for this very reason it all started when I asked for a picture of the pup. She didn't know how to send one, so I asked for a mms via mobile and she said her phone doesn't take pictures and she didn't know how to do it, so she thinks we better leave things as they are.....I was so upset by her refusing to sell me a pup, that I thought she was making excuses and wasn't being honest and just tell me what I had done wrong for her to say no.....anyway I have emailed her back apologising for pretty much being an idiot, and for not understanding what she was saying, and that with emails you can't get through what you mean....so now waiting for a reply. She wanted us to come and meet her and the pup, but she lives 3hrs one way. OH works shift work and I need him to drive me, plus its not just drop everything and go, its an all day trip. The only time I can go is 6th April..... I feel like an idiot for getting her emails wrong, though she did it to me too. Just proves how quickly things can go pear shaped, so doesn't look like I will get this puppy after all.... BF
-
Fiona ~ I'm not real fussed about showing, so I don't care if I get a mains or limited registered pup....it just means something else I have to do, and my life is so full as it is, there's just nothing of me left. Pups start showing at 3 months, desexed at 6 months so they have 6mth classes in the neutered section for puppies. I was told they did it mainly as it disadvantaged those who had show quality dogs but wanted or had to desex their dogs. I think its great they have changed this now. Lily ~ Yes its very exciting, I have just come online again hoping to have heard back from the breeder that this puppy is sold or available. Hopefully she has pictures. If she's ours I'll be in here like a shot and show her off to everyone.....waiting, waiting, waiting.... :D Poppyx ~ I did updates on my computer today, so I put the laptop on the chair and got stuck into my studying, I have my first assignment in 2 weeks, and I haven't done hardly any of the work or readings yet so I managed to get through some of it, still lots to go....but getting there. BF
-
Costamum ~ Oh my.....are they planning on using a solid gold crate for the trip. I cannot believe its $1200 for a pup to fly....do you have any friends or family who could look after the pup at your place or theirs? I have been to two kennels.....and no way in hell would I take my dog back to either of them....it was awful.... The only time we are going away soon is for my son's wedding and thats only overnight. But the pup (the one I have just managed to scrounge the deposit for) is 8 weeks 5 days after...phew so that works out great for us. Now just to talk OH into maxing out the credit card Knowing him he'll jump at the chance cross your fingers BF
-
Poppyx ~ At least your baby will get to sleep in the car on the way home....what an exhausting day that will be. But at least now you have a day and time....so I have been trying to catch up on my studies.....I am so behind, but its hard to think narrative novels V's Pug puppies..... I think you can guess which wins hands down so I have been forcing myself to do studying....so slowly getting there. I'm glad I will be having a 6 month break after this unit. I want to be with my baby, and I have the birth of Grandchild #5 coming in September, and I won't miss that for the world. At the moment we have been trying to see if we can get together enough money to put a deposit on the 5 week old pug I originally found, she's now 5 weeks 5 days. If not we should have the total amount when she turns 8 weeks. We are just hoping she is still for sale then.....if not its still ok as we have the other 2 breeders with pregnant females....so no biggy.....but....we'd love to get this little girl. So its just a matter of waiting and seeing how things go....my fingers are crossed, so are the girls and OH... BF

Anytime Jess, I am always here, or never far away. As soon as I know for sure the dates I'll update my ticker Poppyx ~ 4 Days...jeepers I'd be a nervous wreck.....hope it goes fast for you....And promise lots of pictures OK? Or we will gang up on you and stick our tongues out at you BF
