  1. We have our first show sept 12 it's a Bullmastiff specialty show so we will meet all the other Bully people. Leo still doesn't quiet grasp the concept of everything (neither do i for that matter! ) so we'll see how it turns out! But I just heard back from our breeder and she is going to enter Leo's daddy in it too, so she'll be there to show me the ropes and what not and if I want she said she will handle Leo for me. It's in Sydney somewhere too I think..So I will also have to shake the nerves of driving through the city! This will be the only show we will do in sydders I think. Too far away! And well done Fletch! He is getting big and looking all grown up! Oh and thanks for all the help Bec. I'm still pretty useless and working things out but hopefully one day i'll get it! haha.

    Absolute Nutter

My aunty got a pug, he is 9 months and still crazy like you are describing- absolutely 'feral' in my words
  3. Yeh that's the type of muzzling i'm talking about, it's so much easier as you can have a lot of extra space in the loop you don't have to maneuver mouths and use your hands as much to get them restrained. And for bandaging we learnt, cotton wool, tape ends, guaze bandage, another bandage (can't think of the name), then is it elastoplast?. There's a name for that type of bandaging too...but can't think of it for the life of me. It's a mans name or something. That's why i've got all those different types. Oh, I have paddle pop sticks too. That's more for wildlife though- can be used to check down throats and used as splints. I need a restocking, I used some of my bandages, and i've had some friends raid through it for stuffs for their kids too. It does come in really handy. Mines always in the boot of my car.
  4. Yeh i've got green ones of them- I love them! The bandages came in handy when she pulled a stitch, I just patched her up and off we went. I've got the muzzle and those few other bits and pieces just incase there's a stray or something, that I may need to muzzle- I probably wouldn't get close enough to muzzle it but you never know- Or for if one of my kids get a bit snappy cause they're in pain. And it isn't really a muzzle, it's is a stronger bandage material that can be used just to hold them shut- you know, the make shift muzzle. I looked at a muzzle but you never know what size you may need, and if you know how to 'make' a muzzle, a tough bit of material should successfully restrain many diff sized animals. I said muzzle just for a thought for someone to put in there- really it's all just precaution, hopefully a lot of it doesn't ever need to be used!
  5. Haha, although that isn't such a bad thing. You should start charging for replies And he is anything but tiny- my little baby is 17kgs When I tell people to come meet my puppy they come, look at both the dogs and ask where is he
  6. I made up my own first aid kit. It's pretty schmick if I don't say so myself On the outside I have quiet a few diff vet numbers, in diff areas/after hours, rspca, pound, also the wires number and my local police station. In it I have surgical scissors (not so much to cut something open, but to cut something of- string etc if it's caught in.Or if theres a kangaroo and it has a joey to cut the teet so I can take the baby), forceps/ tweezers, syringe (for irrigation), thermometre, bowl, dressings (gauze, cotton wool, elastoplast, and a few others), saline, fly repellent (for myself lol), cool packs, disposable gloves, muzzle, small plastic containers/zip lock bags, plastic bags, a lead and pillow case, towel, torch, pen and notebook, tape, anit septic cream (any medications you want in there). I don't know how many of those things i'd actually ever use/need, but it can come in handy for both people and animals. Luckily I have only had to use it once, when my dog pulled a stitch on the way home from the vets!
  7. Thanks I think I know there isn't really anything to be worried about and know what I have to do, i'm just paranoid and don't want to take chances, rather the "better to be safe then sorry method" I need reassurance. And you, and I think it's jed aswell, are machines, you guys 'know everything' -so to speak, such great help to have on here. Ya's just have a way of putting things to make you think "yeh-der" aswell. Not to get corny or anything
  8. So I had Leo at the vets on sunday because he had 'acute' vomiting- the fed said it was some form of gastro (forgive me i'm useless and forget) that his tummy was very rumbly but because he was alert not dehydrated and all his vital signs it wasn't that bad- he gave him an injection for the vomiting, to stop it, and some tablets if it keeps up. He also said to expect some diarrhea, and not to be worried if it happens. It's now friday (he started being sick on sat, so 6 days later) and i've noticed a bit of diarrhea, should I be worried or is this normal? Could his tummy still be upset? I did give him carcasses for the first time this week last night and he has had some treats and what not (not excessive though)- should I put him back on just bikkies for another week? He is still bright and alert and his happy self, he isn't dehydrated, his gums are nice and pink, his tummy isn't sore to touch/press, all his vital signs seem normal and everything seems to be in order, i'm just a bit of a paranoid parent I guess. His gums are a bit red, but he is teething, could he have diarrhea because of the teething? (I may be going out on a limb here haha, I just know babies can get it when they're teething and all sorts of funny things) He is due for his 16week needles next week, so I will talk to the vet again then- hopefully it has stopped though. I just don't if I should worry or not- I need some guidance.
  9. When was Toby born? That is nearly the same as Leo, I think he is a little bit later in sept though
  10. Yeh I was hoping to be able to enter that one...I guess we'll have to wait and see..Surely it shouldn't be too far away!
  11. Haha so it isn't that scary?! When is the next one at Maitland? (if there is) ..Just curious!
  12. Only a couple of weeks from memory. What show were you planning on doing? Well didn't have any particular one I was hoping for, I just want to get the first over and done with before I back out ;) I know there is one at hillsborough early sept, and in august too (from memory) so probably just one of those, because he will still be in baby puppy then. I sent mine two weeks ago, so it shouldn't be far off?
  13. How long did it take everyone to get their membership/registration back? It's been quiet a while and mine still hasn't come so just wondering what the average was :D we wanted to get into one of the shows coming up but don't know if it'll be happening if we don't get it!
  14. You will do great. You both will! I can't make it tomorrow to cheer you on, Leo is sick-well a bit "off" and has had a few vomits.. I don't know what's up so am going to see how he shapes up over night, and see whether I need to take him to the vets tomorrow, and i'm sick too- kinda funny in a weird way. But have fun and goodluck! Will be thinking of ya's and wanna hear the results as soon as ya's get home!
  15. Just be sure when your pup starts inhaling the necks to put him on something bigger (wings, carcasses, something of the sort) I took my boy of necks at about 11 weeks old and put him on carcasses
  16. Aw he looks so good! Leo would love him, a big fluffy toy to chew on Be sure to let us know how you go!
  17. Leo is the same, everytime someone comes to give him the once over why we have him in his stand he gets so excited and just wants kisses and cuddles. Haha, gotta break that habit. He wants to say hello to all the other dogs aswell, he is too social for this Bullmastiffs are like pugs- basically no preparation before going in, well so i've heard. "the lazy mans show dog" they're known as
  18. Oh, you will be fine! Yeh, I should probably make it, so I will look out for you! (if I don't come and say hi it's just because I chickened out haha, but will def be cheering you on!)...What is the address for the grounds there? (need it for the gps as i'm useless with directions!) I was first there! So sat and I thought "maybe i'm at the wrong place?!" lol. The class was quiet small, which was good for a first time, only about 4 people, I think because the usual trainer wasn't going to be there.. They all made me feel welcomed though. Were lovely. Commented on how lovely he was and such a good boy which made me feel good too haha.
  19. So went to our first training tonight, wasn't as scary as I expected..I think maybe I was expecting trolls?! lol (oh, no offence to showies, i'm just a really nervous/anxious person!) Leo is such a darling, he is vv people orientated (which is such a good thing) but everytime she'd come to feel him while we were trying to get him to stand he would go all wobbly and ask for kisses, or, in his case, demand them It wasn't the usual lady (though being my first time i've never met the usual) but she was lovely (can't remember her name for the life of me) but she shows newfs, and said she will be at morissette on the 26th if I go check it out to go say hello and she will show me a few more of the ropes! We were only there half hour, before he was plonking on the ground all tuckered out haha. It's good that it's not full on for him though, it's really just teaching me what to do and then teach me to be able to teach him, which is just what I wanted. And it was great to hear that she thinks he is great, especially from someone who actually knows what they're talking about Such a long post with really no substance, i'm sorry! Here is a pic of him: (ok, me trying to get him to stand, but it was hard trying to take the picture myself, while trying to get him to stand, so it is a tad crooked/blurry lol) ..And a second one ..just because! He is 13 weeks tomorrow
  20. Lol, thanks, something to look forward too I am the most clumsiest person, and i've done it so many times that I now have an irrational fear of slipping over in the rain..anywhere wet really
  21. Whereabouts are you going to do show training? We are going to Raymond Terrace, haven't heard any reviews of them so will see how it is, if not we've got hillsborough lined up! Ohhh newbies AND locals I am going to hillsborough training Nicky was awesome. Let me know how you get on at the terrace, who knows might see you at training. I have the black and white fluffy who des not enjoy getting his feet damp on a tuesday night. Can you PM me details for the terrace pls? Bec Haha yeh, someone to laugh with when I fall over infront of everyone?! I sure can do that for you, details coming your way! If it isn't horrible stormy weather we are going on wednesday (also if I have my dates right ) so i'll let ya know how it is!
  22. Apparently Bullmastiffs are a lot like pugs too. Every second person thinks Leo is a pug, every other person thinks he is a Boxer. Then when I say no, Bullmastiff, they tell me I shouldn't have got one of those because they are killers. rolleyes.gif You can't win!
  23. Whereabouts are you going to do show training? We are going to Raymond Terrace, haven't heard any reviews of them so will see how it is, if not we've got hillsborough lined up!
  24. We go to our first show training class on weds (if it doesn't rain) and I am nervous about that, let alone going to an actual show! Leo is very unmotivated and lazy, so we will see how it goes! lol.
