the only place i would recommend is urbandogtraining.com.au they are the best the ladies name is Danielle, she does one on one sessions or you can do group sessions if you change ur mind later. she is a behaviourist (i think thats how u spell it) so she will teach you alot about your dog and how to go about fixing any problems, you can also find urban dog training on facebook oh they are around carina area but she does house calls and i have seen her go as far south as ormeau prob even further

kelpie hound mum i have to say my OH and family think like yours does lol we can have dinner and lock raz in his crate and he is quite happy to stay in there cause he knows he gets rewarded (lots of treats) he even goes in without prompting. I just wish we had listened to our trainers along time ago and done the training when he was a baby. Now my OH cant ignore the whingeing that follows when we lock him in at night. though we are happy he sleeps in his own bed happily and we all sleep the night, i think raz is semi crate trained and if i had to lock him in i could but i dont know how he would fare for hours at a time :/ he also gets time outs in his crate so can be in there for up to 5 mins at a time (its better than him scratching at our doors)

What To Do If A Dog Off Lead Attacks Your Dog
dandybrush replied to miss shel's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have had a couple of near misses, nothing tooo bad yet (fingers crossed ever) one time i was walking a moodle and mini poodle and a husky type thing ran up behind very fast, i turned and yelled arrgh at it and it backed off and didnt persue. When i was walking raz as a baby a staffy type thing got out and i tried the same trick but that didnt deter it it just ran around and went for raz lucky i had devon that fell out of my pouch and that detered it, also my husband was there and he just picked raz up I have never thought to kick, i might try to remember that one if im ever in a bad situation, but yes i do yell/ growl -
have to say thats very funny lol, never happened to me though

wow.. *shed a tear for you* such a sad story yet beautiful, he wil be waiting for you over the rainbow bridge
-
can i ask how you got 100% with you're coolie, with mine he comes in everyday situations but soon as its a bit different and more exciting to be elsewhere he wont come. Does anyone have any exercises i could do to work on his recall and i do not intend to buy a whistle, i want him to come even if he doesnt want to come if you know what i mean
-
what beautiful dogs they did not deserve what happened to them, makes me sick that that could happen to anyone, it takes on careless person to be walking the same time as me and my baby and the same thing could happen to me hope you're aunt and her pups come through this with confidence and continue to be happy

kongs are everywhere most pet shops and clickers not too sure, got mine from our trainer, until your dog is crate trained i would suggest a wire crate (less easy to destroy) once trained you could get a soft crate if you wanted

my pup is nearly 2 now, and my one regret is i didnt crate train him, i know i could do it now but my OH doesnt have the patience to withstand the whingeing that raz does :/ he eats in his crate and i can lock him in for a couple of minutes, but he doesnt love it and cannot stay in it too long or the whingeing starts. even if you dont use the crate every day as they get older it can/would come in handy for some situations. so definately if you have the time and patience to out persist your dog i would recommend it

oh thats great news i often wonder how my boy will go with kids. i hope he "gets" it

What Is So Bad About A Halti/gentle Leader
dandybrush replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I use a halti on my dog. I love it it gives me more control, I have one that when he pulls it gets tighter...teaching him not to pull. I use it purely as a training tool, granted he doesnt like it but he bears it once its on and acts just the same, only lighter on the leash. when i say i use it to train, my dog pulls on the lead (very bad habit) so i give him 1 chance, i go for my walk start with the halti off, i carry it soon as he pulls i say "to bad" and it goes on, he hardly pulls on our daily walks now cause he knows whats going to happen if he does. He mostly wears it in new/exciting situations so im not constantly tugging at his throat, he pulls on himself for pulling on the leash. So i see nothing wrong with haltis, if it makes it easier for the owner. Long as they dont use them like a check chain and tug sharply on them, that is wrong in my books -
I have to agree, your dog is awesome. The focus and up and go he has is wonderful. I really admire this working breed. Aww, thanks He says thanks for the dog bikky, too! I gave it to him in his crate once he'd settled down some at home, he didn't want to eat it at first, but after I threatened to eat it myself he ate it, and then spent a good 5mins snuffling for all the crumbs he'd spread everywhere, so he must've enjoyed it LOL As much as the little bugger shits me to tears, and it might look like I am always cranky with him (because he is such a loon in public), I really do love my nutcase Agreed! Huski, Daisy is definitely not boring You have done very well with her I think its normal for dogs to act differently in public K9 cause they just get soo excited raz is the same, you do have a gorgeous dog, i love his focus on you and his toys

i have to say i love that story what a beautiful dog

Haha - I think he's the cutest too but i'm a bit biased. It's a shame the blue eye is a major fault that means we can't show cause as rocco said last night "really? but it's so cute!" lol. I think it makes him look cheeky! Sophie and Raz are BFF"s - lol. There's some dogs she just decides are her bestest freinds - Chase's mum Swazi is one, Nala, Lottie, Raz and Danny are her besties too - haha. I can tell as she just gets soooo excited with little whines and big tail wag's when she sees them. And I think she has a special place in her heart for Coconut now too - haha. What can I say - she's a hussy. She was DA and never socialised when we got her 6 months ago so I couldn't be happier with how she is now in comparison. It would be interesting to see them play together...one day i didnt realise a blue eye could be a fault how bizarre :/ you guys must have put alot of work into her to get her to be sociable

basically my trainers said you should not take one step while the dog is pulling, so when you're dog pulls you stop, coax him bak to you then continue, when he pulls you stop coax him back then continue...that can be a very long process...but it works for them, I myself have a halti for raz (which he hates) so i give him a chance soon as he pulls the halti goes on, he has learned to not get the halti he doesnt pull, so now he only really pulls in exciting circumstances not on our regurlar daily walks

She's well behaved sometimes and especially now more than she used to be but there are a few DOLers who will remember the donut incident at a DOL meet not that long ago And she stole my lunch today! She's a total bugger!! have to say i was very impressed, that was one focused pooch
-
have to say Chase is the cutest BC with his blue eye and i think raz and Sophie got on quite well
-
Apologies for my nutcase jumping up on you when you were retrieving Raz, he just can't help himself when it comes to tug toys *embarrased look* I too can't wait to see how the finished shots turn out! And it was so great to see so many well-behaved dogs all in one place dude dont worry about it i dont think ur nutcase actually touched me i dont blame him normally raz is very focused on his tug, i think he was just tired by the end. Looking forward to the end result also
