  1. ok we got my baby in 2008 he was 9 weeks old. My OH and i had been married 1 week, we walked into a pet shop (very bad i know) and fell in love had never heard of a coolie before, went away for half hour to discuss and research, only wanted a boy, so went back asked if he was a boy, yes, gave him a cuddle, and the rest is history he was the cutest little baby, we were always going to get a pup, just didnt plan when lol we were soo not prepared, i didnt crate train him first thing i will do with any new puppies i get he is kinda crate trained now, will sleep in his crate by choice, i have done preschool, advanced preschool, clicks and tricks, off leash courses and now we are doing agility he has also had a go at hearding hope that answered your questions
  2. underwood park is also near daisy hill forest if we wanted to take our dogs for a walk bush as well, is always an option
  3. oh no!! nope not putting my baby on that then, might just have to spend the money on advantix
  4. aw isnt ava a little cutie raz loves the vets too, when he got done, he basically pulled the vet out the back didnt even say goodbye to me, when we go for his shots now he is still always super excited to be there
  5. good one poodle fan im not moving what is a organophosphate? how does that affect the dogs? might just have to go back on advantix, i was finding it too exy which is why i changed to the tick collar
  6. sorry what do you mean on a coated breed? my boy has a short coat..
  7. ok i have looked through the tick thread pinned in the forum proban seems to be the best for ticks, however they have to bite to be stopped, so from what i understand they should be on proban and something else to stop them. i want to know what you are using for ticks, and does it work? (have you had any ticks?) my boy wears a tick collar atm, but he swims, so does that mean it wont be working?
  8. my boy get Bonnie family dog biscuits, 1 cup and 1 heaped table spoon of fresh mince for dinner sometimes he will not get any mince and will get a brisket, chicken wing/or 2, roo tail (some kind of bone)
  9. ok well im up for it, i have always wanted to try kedron brook off leash dog park (for those who dont know, it has a pond but is not fully fenced from what i understand, could be perfect) im free any day of the weekend, i would prefer a saturday as normally on sundays im too lazy to do anything lol (but can do sunday) morning would be best for me also southside, my local dog park is on Underwood road, there are softball fields also, that may be empty long as we dont think our dogs will run away, they have more space
  10. lol um...no, too much like hard work, but i am looking to take my pup for a day out somewhere if anyone is interested, im thinking either a weekend at nudgee (sat or sunday) or a monday arvo out at wellington point for a walk out and back however i can try to organise something if you want
  11. well thanx for answering my questions KTB wuffles - do you give your dogs bones when you are away, or kongs? do they ever fight or steal each others? how do you stop the dominant dog from pushing the other one off their bed or pushing in for pats? sorry am thinking about a second dog myself but i would hate for this to have bad effects on my training of raz and his personality now
  12. KTB, can i ask, how old is Elbie now? are they both crate trained, or are you crate training? will you make sure to give individual attention/training time or will you just play/train them together? do you have kids or are you planning on it? sorry, just some questions that seem to concern me when i keep thinking about a second dog
  13. oh wow you got your second vacume...that was very fast, i thought you were just thinking about it, sure is a little cutie let us know how the meeting goes
  14. gosh i wish there was somewhere like that place in brissy, that looks like a perfect doggy play setting, i have to let raz outside our local dog park to go swimming in the duck pond, would be nice to have water in the dog park
  15. when we got raz home, we locked him in the garage with a makeshift chicken wire fence, with his cone on his head. when i got home after work, he had the cone off his head and was out of the garage i figured that was worse for his stitches than leaving him in the yard with no cone, so thats what he got, after a couple more days in the garage, but we managed to keep him in there too gosh it sure is hard knowing if you are making the right decisions and if you are not stuffing up your pup, i worry all the time about the impact my decisions have on my baby boy :D the sneezing one is easy, you can do it 2 ways, hold onto a treat, and the dog will think about what to offer you to get the treat, after trying all their tricks they become stressed and will sneeze, click and reward. thats how i did it, i would reward heavily now its his first backup trick. sometimes ill be working on his heel and he will be trotting along beside me sneezing away trying to get that treat the other way to get the sneeze is to spray something like hairspray, aerogard, windex (something they sneeze with) and then same thing click and reward the wiping nose thing, i wanted him to use his paw on his nose, i did this by putting sticky tape on top of his nose when he would wipe at it i would reward heavily, when i stopped using the tape and i was asking for the trick he started wiping his nose along the ground, so i went with that, if thats what he is going to offer ill reward that.
  16. i'll set up my camera and see if i can catch his trick of sneezing lol
  17. haha, well let me know when you have a group and what the majority ages are, i do have friends in their 30's i seem to get on with older pple, haha, but if its all um...older pple i might have to skip I just have the 1 doggie im wanting to find him more doggy friends as he doesnt really play with many dogs, he seem to ignore them mostly to play with me
  18. someone needs to be the meet organiser i think, a day should be picked and the others add their names, with a yes or no how many dogs and what food to bring. i think maybe once every 6 months so twice a year we meet (can meet more if others want) and once we meet northside, the second time we meet southside. thats just what i think...have we had the meet yet? did i miss it?
  19. me too though I will probably have a bit of a laugh if it is just a vacume cleaner we are all in anticipation about. I wonder how many people will be lurking/reading this forum between the hours of 12-2 and onwards in an attempt to discover the answer to the whole mystery. thats a cool trick, i might see if i can teach raz to go to a point from a distance. raz's fall back tricks when he isnt sure what im asking is No. 1 Sneeze No. 2 spin (turn left) or turn (turn right) 3. then he backs up and tries every other trick he knows
  20. what is "finish"? raz can sneeze on command, i have now taught him to wipe his nose on the ground so i can get him to sneeze then wipe his nose haha
  21. i had raz done at 4.5 months also, and he didnt need the cone either
