  1. i mean she is adorable and its nothing against her...i just dunno how well im going to cope as a 2 dog home, raz and i used to spend all our time together...now i have to share him and myself with the little girl i always wanted 2 kids...i guess this will be a good learning experience for me maybe once we bond to the newcomer, it will be the 3 of us instead of the 2 of us maybe
  2. Sammie - Im in the same boat as you!! i love my razzle soooooo much, i really dont know how im going to share my time, the pup I have is on trial, but i dunno if she will be returned, though i still have concerns for my relationship with my older boy (the puppy love of my life) he too has been a bit put out with the new girls presence....and with a new rug on the floor he has stopped sleepign near me i hope he adjusts and comes bak to being his old self else this little girl i have will be going bak...
  3. keira ill be at puppy play group on sunday if you wanna come for puppy cuddles...are you still in puppy? or is your girl in adolescent now? i might be able to make the play date too, will just bring raz though
  4. well raz was there when we picked her up, and they basically were home together since, he was a bit put off i think an annoying puppy jumping at him, but this morning he had a play with her, i dont think it will take long for them to bond
  5. well hey guys, i know im not always following this thread, but i thought u would appreciate some of these pics... sunday arvo on the way home: Monday arvo ears up already!! her name is Willow (atm unless we decide on something else)
  6. omg im in love with the baby westies!! *reaches in and takes a pup...
  7. maybe do some focus work on him? click and treat when he stares in your eyes, then get a friend to come to the door and continue to get the dog to focus on you, and reward for looking at you and quiet, start with the person at the bottom of the driveway if you have to, then get them to slowly move forwards only at the dogs level, this should teach a new behaviour in when someone comes to visit go look at mum (iykwim) might not totally cure it but if you get the focus and quiet mostly then i say its effective sorry thats all i can say either that crate the dog in a diff room and shut the door so the noise is less...and only let them out once quiet
  8. before i had a crate raz had time outs in the bathroom...just be prepared for scratched doors...if i had the crate i would have used it, but i see your point, maybe tie his leash up to something and make that the naughty corner?
  9. do you use time outs? i would suggest that when he does this behaviour to plop him in his crate to settle in a short time out..when he does it again, straight bak in the crate. also keep doing what you are doing, rewarding the good behaviours he will learn eventually, you have to outpersist him, i learned persistance with my pup, working dogs are very persistant, if he does it 10 times, just crate him 10 times, dont give up im sure there are going to be many diff options from pple, thats just what i would try myself, good luck
  10. awwww, i wish i hadnt lost all my baby razzle pics :D
  11. i do agree, any puppy is going to make me go gaga lol
  12. aww those samoyed are adorable i would have to say that mini poodles and koolies are the cutest puppies
  13. yeah thanks star i have mentioned other options to her
  14. thanks yeah, sorry erny, thats all the info i have, i was told its a common fault in the Maltese breed and yes poodlefan she has pulled out of agility, i think its for the best also
  15. how i taught my boy to walk backwards, was i would walk towards him, then click and reward when he backed up. eventually i would just lean towards him and click reward, then i moved to not moving and he would just offer the back up without me leaning, then i added the word and he does it fine now
  16. done i bought 2 for my 1 dog with 4 crates hes not toooo spoilt
  17. that sounds alright sorry i have the flu atm...not feeling like much of anything, should be right by then though fxed
  18. A question for maltese owners and/or vet nurses on here my sisters dog a little maltese x pomeranien x poodle has just been diagnosed with a joint issue she was told is common in the maltese breed. apparently his left or right, cant remember which foot front foot, has a weak joint at the ankle? and apparently at any time (could be this year or 10 years) this joint is going to collapse. He said the dog will not be in any pain but that he will then begin to wear a brace on that foot, to keep it upright (surgery is an option, but expensive) now she had him enrolled in agility to start next week (she is pulling out now) but my thoughts were the jumping at agility could cause the collapse to happen sooner? would i be right, if she was to want to do agility could he wear the brace now before it were to collapse? anyone had any experience with this?
  19. seriously feed them what you want, its a bit trial and error. start with a good brand you know of like royal canin or canidae and some decent pet mince and fresh bones etc i tried to look into the best brands, i raised my boy on lucky dog puppy biscuits, then he had lucky dog adult biscuits, then he had adult bonnie and now we are on royal canin, and he seems to love it. I like lucky dog i know its a cereal based food, but its what i always said i would feed my own dog ;) bonnie is cereal based also, though i believe that if you give them fresh bones and fresh mince then you are still giving them what they need i have moved onto royal canin cause i like you wanted to put my boy on something better for him (its what his kennel uses) and so i bought it to try and he seems to really like it, i like the size of the biscuist better, and even my friends dog wants the biscuits when they visit i think he has a brighter coat maybe from the food ;) i know some pple can tell a huge difference when their dog eats good verse bad food i cant though :D so dont read soo much into it all, just feed a food you want to feed and are comfortable with/can afford its a bit of trial and error, you can change their food (by adding the new stuff into their diet slowely) at any time you like :D just have a try of everything if you want, or buy the one you always wanted to buy :D there are soo many out there, you could just discuss it all day
  20. what a beautiful old man he was  just gorgeous, im sorry there is nothing i can say, but know that i am thinking of you in this difficult time
  21. im finding all these replys interesting...as i keep considering then changing my mind on getting a second dog ktb you sound like you are doing well, did elbie lose any focus on you at all when hoover came along? or did you end up with 2 dogs focusing on you? did hoover ever focus on elbie more than you? i have heard of second dogs bonding more to the first dog than the pple
