  1. ok other agility friends question Now at home raz is fine in his crate will snooze etc, at agility he just cries constantly so my plan: is to take him and just crate him, i will start to train him again when he has learned to settle in his crate, there just a bit of high pitched squeaking, then he started scratching near the end (soft crate btw) figured out that got attention, i had to stop him he did get a hole in the screen!! so he got louder, i had to put him in the car next time im bringing the wire crate and he can cry to his hearts content :D and i will ignore ignore ignore, he is ok in his crate at home will snooze if left in it but for some reason when we are at agility he just get too stressed and he equates the agility to stress, i need him to calm down if you have any ideas on how i can do it differently let me know any help would be appreciated
  2. i suggest for the next week or so leash walks only when you see another dog and he starts to ignore you say leave it then you wait have treats ready soon as he looks to you reward treat after treat give him heaps, eventually it will not take as long for him to look at you before you have to treat. second thing i would do is take him to the park (if there is grass next to the dog park) and do some training, once you have it good at home take him to the park and train him with the distractions, if he is good at the end you can then release him to play if he doesnt focus on you at all no play at the end. what i would do to start is go and sit next to the park and make a kissing sound say to get his attention and reward, again lots and lots of treats (even a game of tug, whatever motivates him) eventually he will be focusing on you next to the park and you can then commence your training take it slow, maybe your first trip out you can just sit and reward for eye contact with you, then go home then the next day reward for eye contact with some obedience work then home etc. hope that makes sense and gives you something to think about or to try
  3. i would recommend teach the puppy "leave it" and then use that on the cat and time out every time she doesnt comply with "leave it" only bring in the time outs when she knows what leave it means, start small. also for time outs i would recommend you lock puppy in the bathroom or laundry for a min or 2 as this is more of a punishment then putting them where they can see you
  4. sorry i cant help with that one
  5. oh what happened over the weekend? gosh glad she is still squeaking for you then sorry dont answer that, my condolences for your loss i did read the other thread, i just didnt link them to this one terribly sorry

  7. love the jarmies they seem to be a good fit too
  8. msk in all honesty i was exactly the same as you are with my new pup, cept for the not eating and being sick part but as soon as i got her home i was a bit sad i wanted things to go bak to the way they were with me and my first dog. my older boy and i have the best relationship and we do/did everything together now i have to share my time, which im still struggling with, but not so much anymore, give the pup time, your cats will be bak in the house playing before you know it, my older boy wouldnt lie on the rug in the loungeroom when we first brought pup home, i didnt even notice when he started to do it again, if you stop stressing about it will just happen how its supposed to, buy some treats and toy, do some sit, and drop with the pup play with it and give it time im sure everything will work out (can i also say i was the same with my first pup to, i thought i would never get time alone with OH again!! i was quite upset, but i cant see my life without him now)
  9. lulusmum she is gorgeous and good work with the treats, training and cuddles already!! see nothing to worry about
  10. im not sure, but if fussing her is scaring her, maybe carry her favourite treat on you for a while and when she behaves reward with a treat, maybe when she settles a bit she will happily let you pat her (dont pat her on the head, rub her shoulders or back) start training now to, just sit, drop, stand or whatever you like using the treats as a reward i think you will be fine, she just has to adjust, i would go the treat route myself im sure other pple will have better ideas
