  1. damn.. how scary!! what did they say? any idea who would of reported you?
  2. oh, i hope the little dog is ok. i'm not a fan of fenced dog parks... I've seen too many incident at fence dog parks. i will only go in them if the place is near empty. the dog park i go to, it's open and big... so there is plenty room for everyone. charlie doesn't play with dogs often, but likes going down there to watch other dogs or often just say hello and then continue his merry way. we rarely stay in one place at parks too and take a very small stroll around the park off leash. charlie doesn't cause trouble.. he will rarely approach a dog first. dogs that approach him usually are respectful.. although there has been time where the boyfriend or i have to stand in front of charlie to distract them till they calm down to meet charlie. haven't taken Emmy yet... but she's a lunatic, so she won't go down there till she settles down more.
  3. Us too I bought mine from the supermarket for about $5, looks similar to this: Same
  4. If you keep reinforcing something they are already doing and offered themselves, it becomes a VERY reinforcing thing to be looking at mum (or dad ), and it was all the dog's idea ;) Is that how my first reply sounds like? it's not what i meant. i meant, if i got all their focus... i'm not using the "look at me" command. but, if they lose focus, that's when i use the command, as a reminder. i hope that make sense Sorry, don't think my post was too clear. I was trying to explain why some choose not to ask for them to pay attention. If you mark them when they do it on their own, and reward big time, they soon want to offer it all the time. And if you wait for them to do it instead of asking for, it makes them think it's their idea to watch you which is a good thing ;) Ok, that makes sense.

  6. Why shouldn't we command a dog to watch when they are looking away? I do have the "look at me" command and use it I don't like them focus too much on my hands or the treat or a particular object. They have to focus on me. Charlie doesn't need the look at me command now because he knows the drill. But, I do have a 14 weeks old puppy, that's in training with no attention span. I'm not going to use her name to get her attention.. in fact, I rarely use her name in training. If they are looking at me.. why i tell them to do something they are already doing? that's just silly I also use the "look at me" command when I'm feeding Emmy too. When feed her, she has to sit and her eyes are always on me... sometimes she get distracted (and she does VERY easily), and i will say 'look at mummy' as a reminder.
  7. Riddick is tooo adorable!!! I have the "look at mummy' command... which means they must look into my eyes. The boyfriend want to change that command to 'focus' or 'look at me' though When we are training, the dogs don't know which hand they are going to get fed from either... then again, they know they won't get a treat if they don't look at me first.
  8. Thanks for everyone's suggestion! GardenofEden - my breeder said the same thing. She said, give it time. I didn't want to try Angeleyes till it was absolutely necessary because it is pricey. Tomato pastes, apple cider vinegar and Optrex is on the the list to try first.

  10. way way too cute!!! looks like Joey had an awesome day!!
  11. With Charlie.. i went to second, thirds and forth opinions. I'm pretty upfront person, so I tell the vets/specialist everything, who've I see, what has been done. Everyone understood... sash even printed out Charlie's whole medicial history for me, as well as Charlie's normal vet. We took that to other specialist, uni etc. No one was offended and they understood, that you're doing what's best for your pet and it's not judging them on their work.
  12. awww... post a pic up of Mufti up here!!! i want to see him! please i've started with paste with emmy yesterday. she's a total guts so she licked it out of the spoon quick smart. Charlie didn't want to be left out, so we gave him a lick too..
  13. Personally, I've never fed my dogs tin food, so I won't know if they are a good or bad. From what I've been told, it's mostly water in it anyway.
  14. Oh, poor Bitty!! Oh, it is great Emmy lets me know. But, Emmy tells me everything She is a chatterbox. She tells me when she is awake. when she wants to go to sleep. when she is hungry. when she is full... you get the idea..
  15. At puppy school.. one of the instructors said that a female dog/pup is harder to house train then a male dog/pup? What do you guys think and say? Me, personally, it's all depend on the dog and how consistent the person is on it. Admittedly, Charlie got house training very quickly (he hasn't made a mistake in the house since 12 weeks). Emmy hasn't quite got the concept of it just yet... she just goes to the backdoor and sticks her head out of the doggie door and barks to let us know she needs to go. She hasn't got the part where she can walk through the doggie door and ran to the yard just yet by herself just yet... she needs someone (or Charlie) to go with her. But, she is a puppy and is still learning.
  16. awww... lovely pics! Lady does look very happy in her carriage! Sounds like you all had a great day!
  17. Well, after finding out that my area is a high risk tick area recently. My 2 will be going on tick prevention all year round now. Especially that i have 2 small breed dogs too.
  18. mostly canned... once in a while, I will give them fresh one (i work near a fish market).
  19. I think you should get a behaviourist in to come and help you guys out. Charlie was desexed at 6-7 months, and it didn't changed him aside that he no longer violates the big stuff duck we have at home name 'Ducky'. His personality and attitude still remains the same though.
  20. I'm so glad that your sneaky escape artist is alright!
  21. i just give my dogs sardines once a week...
  22. After giving Charlie a formal name, I felt it would be fair that I would give my second pup formal names too I always love the name Emmy, but it didn't sound formal enough. Emma and Emily is too common, and I read a book and saw the name Emmaline and fell in love with it. So classy and old fashion-like. Charlie second name is Wentworth.. so I thought I'll keep the 'W' second name theme going. Although I'm a fan of supernatural... it was actually the boyfriend who thought of the name Winchester. He was reading up on guns and out of the blue he was like 'Winchester will be a good second name for our next dog right?' So, that's is how Emmy got her name... Emmaline Winchester
  23. wow... that's really good puggerup! well done!
  24. Never believed in the crate but have learnt it's a very handy tool to have around. I use to be firm with training with the dogs but now, I'm lighten up and start being creative with training my dogs. Started with Charlie, he was praised motivated, so cuddles and kisses was all it was needed to train him most of the time. Then, i realise how important it is to be creative when Emmy came along. Firm tones makes her nervous and she won't listen to me and she has no attention span. So, working with her has to be fun and interesting.
