Ready To Welcome A Puppy Into The Home Too!
W Sibs replied to Lynlovesdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ohhh... even though I don't have a Sammy or Lappie (one day in the future I will get one of each!) I would love to come and have some Lappies and Sammys cuddles. I have a Japanese Spitz though. -
HAHA... love the photos!! They look like they are having way too much fun

Hmmm.... Funny you say about tug and rip things up... right now, she is tearing apart a cardboard box and making growling noises as she is doing it. For tug, she is a hardcore tug-a-warer... she will NOT let the object go (i recently found out that if i blow in her nose she will automatically let the object go).. we are still working on the command 'Give'. Charlie likes tug-a-war but he doesn't have the same excitment as Emmy... then again, she puts all her energy into everything she does. We got to organise play date soon.. so you can meet her! Not looking foward on finding dead birds... I have to already deal with other dead insects that Charlie accidently kills and bring to me. Yeah... it was really interesting to watch her this morning. I want to film her the next time she does it!

Nope not yet... just tomato paste at the moment. She has half a teaspoon every morning before breakfast. She is loving it.

Dog 1 - CKCS x Shih Tzu - He is a companion dog and he does a really good job. He needs to be with his humans most of the time. Even if it's just lazing around or going for walk, as long as he is with his humans, he is at his element. - He gets walks daily, he has his 10 minutes training in the morning and evening. We play games likes Search to keep his brain working. But, boredom is never big thing for him, because he takes his sleeping very seriously Dog 2 - Japanese Spitz - Right now, her job is to be a puppy. Learning house rules, learning basic training and learning to be socialable. - She is currently doing basic obedience but later down the track, we will be trying agility and flyball. - She gets 2 daily walks (usually 10 - 15 minutes each walk). Along side training, she is learning how to do tricks. We play fetch and tug a war. She loves chew toys or loves chewing on icy cold face wash towel that I have in the freezer for her. They also play together a lot. We have a big yard for them to run around and explore in. Neither my dogs are destructive (although Emmy is still young and has potential to destroy the house if I don't exercise her). They get a lot of attention separately and the boyfriend and I work hard to make sure that both their individual needs are met daily.

Another favorite of mine... Emmy is getting so big!! Charlie looks so different with his fur cut!
-
I still keep in contact with Emmy's breeder through letters and phone calls

Pointing? when they spot prey and are telling you where it is like pic below Ohhh.. that's cool!!! When SB said pointing.. I'm picturing a dog pointing his paw in front of him
-
LOL.. Charlie doesn't stalk either... he is a rusher!

Pointing?

it is great to know that she has this prey drive and she is so focussed cause it is excellent for obendience or trialling or whatever you want to do with her....just be prepared to find some dead birds one day...i have to pick dead birds up a few times a month i was just thinking... it would be awesome to use that focus in her training. I'm not a fan of birds.. dead or live

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
W Sibs replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
"I can't keep my dog anymore. my new boyfriend is jealous because I got the dog with my ex. we are going to get a new puppy together." This girl was giving up her 8 years old Labrador x and told my dad. My dad took the dog home and the dog lived with us for another 3 years before going to Rainbow Bridge. "I wanted a white dog but now it's a creamy colour" This was a couple giving up a Maltese x (my Aunty still has this dog) "We learn that cats are easier to look after. So we got rid of our dog and got a cat." My sister's friend told me over this over dinner a few years back. The dog was about 6 years old. Luckily, the couple's other friend took that dog in. -
well, that's a relief... She is my second puppy and I'm still learning... Charlie was never a normal puppy... so he never did any of this! lol
-
That's pretty much his attitude when I take his photos... he will stand still after a while with that face and if I take too long of taking his photo... he will walk away as though saying 'well, you had your chance. you blew it.' Emmy does look bigger then him. I will post another pic of them together later tonight... i took several (hundreds) photos of them together... I just have to pick out the photos where Charlie isn't giving me evil or pretending that I'm not there.

Our kelpie does it to the puppy Bundy pings along oblivious and Diesel is just watching waiting ready to pounce.. You just have to shut your eyes as he bodyslams Oh dear! Poor Bundy!! I have a feeling when Emmy gets older... i'll be finding dead birds in the yard. She's amazingly fast and my little girl can fly!! Thankfully, Emmy doesn't stalk Charlie...

Hmm.. yeah. I guess i find it strange because I've never seen her so intense before...

Why Dog Trainers Should Train Chickens
W Sibs replied to corvus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I would give a try training a chicken... but I'm scared of them! My dad has trained his cat (brother's ex cat) like a dog... Evil Ninja now knows how to play fetch, goes to toilet on command, and must sit and and wait for his food. -
This morning, I went to look for Emmy and found her in the backyard hiding in the grass eye-ing 2 birds in the yard. She was laying very very still, then will creep slowly forward, then back on laying still again. She just started stalking them and never lost her focus on them. Before I could called out to her, she went to launch at one of the bird (the bird got away). She is still a puppy... so I've never seen this behaviour with a puppy so young before.. so is this normal? I've never seen her so focus before. It was very impressive. Is this prey drive?

Worst Excuses For Re-homing Or Surrendering A Pet
W Sibs replied to PeiPei's topic in General Dog Discussion
my ex's friend gave up their 1 years old dog because it was no longer cute -
We picked up Emmy from VIC and we are from NSW... about 11 hours drive. I put her little blanket on the passenger side foot rest (this was where she was majority of the car ride) the harness and booster chair (she enjoyed looking outside of the window and she didn't mind the harness at all) but, of course, part of the trip she was in my arms too
