  1. My boy started cocking his leg at 3-4 months old. He got desexed 6-7 months. Still does it when we go on our walks but squats when he is at home in the backyard
  2. she is gorgeous...!! i love her colouring! greyhounds and whippets are really growing on me.
  3. No set age for me, once the first dog is trained to what I want, i would then get a second dog - Kaos came along when Atlas was 18 months old, Had I been happy with Atlas when he was 6 months old, i would have gotten a second dog then Same with me. I would of gotten a second puppy when Charlie was 6 months (and began looking and had narrowed down to what breeds to get - it wasn't a Japanese Spitz either!) but situation changed. Knew I was going to always get another dog but I really had to wait till the time felt/was right.
  4. Having a second dog is awesome We got Emmy when Charlie was over a year old. The best decision the boyfriend and I've made. Emmy has bought all of us so much happiness and joy. My 2 absolutely love and adore each other
  5. Yeah he does have health issues. But, he has always been like this even as a puppy. He rarely play with other dogs... although the dog park is the place where he is most happiest
  6. Interesting conversation I had a talk with one of the boyfriend's friend at the park about this. He is convince a proper socialise dog is a dog that should/will play with any dog.. all breed, sex or age. Which is fair enough. Mine is a dog who is secure and confident around other dogs, but not necessary have the need to play or have an interaction with them. So, what is your definition of a well socialised dog? This all started when he commented that Charlie is anti social (then added that I shouldn't bring him to the park till he is better socialised) because his dogs tried to engaged Charlie into play but Charlie was just laying on the ground chewing on a stick ignoring them. They were barking at him and nudging Charlie, but Charlie was just simply ignoring them. Thing is, Charlie rarely play with other dogs. He is happy to say hello and then go on his merry way and do his own thing or just sit and watch other dogs play.
  7. I haven't been on in a few days and to see you update, Jed. It warms the heart!! (I'm at work blaming my tears on allergies) You were amazing on tv (although Mother Moocher is right... stop scratching your hands! ) Charlie, Emmy, the boyfriend and I are still sending over healing vibes to you. We still think and pray of all you have lost, but we are thrilled that YOU are still here and getting better
  8. another favorite sleeping pic of Emmy
  9. *blow raspberry on Porthus's pink belly*
  10. Awww.. don't feel bad. When Charlie got desexed the only person who felt bad was the boyfriend... I spend more time comforting him then Charlie. Charlie was back to normal within a day.
  11. OMG... he has a face that I just want to smother with kisses!! awww
  12. OMG!!! HI! Best thing I've read online for a very long time!!! *i just got dust in my eyes.. leave me alone*
  13. Emmy is the worst pup I've ever had to toilet trained it took a her a while to get the toilet training business, and I still come home finding mistakes around the house (it's when I come home from work). It's annoying... but she does little poos and not had to clean up. (she does pee on command though) Emmy is full one. That's why I train her so much!!! I'm trying to tire out her crazy little brain of hers... it's sort of working, but not really. I have to run around the backyard with her every morning and every night, to wear her down a little bit. It does help that she has an older brother who's the best dog ever. She copies him, so when I'm training him... she sits and watch and then tries to copy because she knows she will get a treat for it. Yeah, my 2 love and adore each other
  14. Sometimes it takes some puppies to get use of puppy pre school. Give it time When Charlie went.. the first night he mostly stayed under my chair and just to watch what was going around him. The second week, he was brave enough to to venture out to play with other dogs. He stayed away from the hyperactive dogs though. He is a sweet and gentle boy. Oh, then there is Miss Emmy... first class, she shocked the hell out of me when she was so good, sweet and on her best behaviour. Second lesson, her true colour showed! She was rough housing with all the dogs in there, beat them up if they didn't let her get what she wants She and another staffy played together and sometimes it got rough, that they were separated. If you are in Sydney... we can let our pups play together. Emmy plays rough though, she growls when she plays too (nothing aggressive though.. she growls when she digs on her bed, growls before she jumps off the couch, growls when she plays). Charlie puts Emmy in her place when she gets to much... a warning bark from Big Bro stops her in her tracks and settles her down. One time, she was too much for him, he sat on her!!
  15. all the puppies on this forum are clever!!! and sooo soooo soooo cute!!!!
  16. Yes, she does sleep in my bed. She stretches out at the end of the bed. It's easy for me to take her out at nights when she still woke up 2 times a night to go outside to do her business. one of my fave photo of Emmy sleeping This website explains it much better than I could ever explain it! Target training
  17. I'm going to enter Emmy for kicks and giggles... Although, I doubt she will be chosen though. I think she will be a pain to work with. She's such a Diva and will throw tantrums if she doesn't have her own way..
  18. That would be fun and I love Peter Alexander stuff but Japanese Spitz is not on the list
  19. Cool Thread!! Emmy is 15 weeks old. Curious, adventurous, feisty, fearless and has a great love for life. She wakes up excited for the day to start!!! She is very affectionate when she wakes up and insist to have her cuddles from me, the boyfriend and Charlie before she gets off the bed. She makes us laugh every single day because we knows what she's going to do next. She only has 2 modes.. fast and faster. She is still known as my Feral Child but in honesty, she is really a joy!! She pass Puppy Pre School with honours ( ) and currently enrolled in K9 College. She is doing good in that class, despite she doesn't have much attention span. Tricks she knows: High Five Low Five Crawl Bow Shake Hands Where's Daddy? Where's Mummy? Roll Over (and roll back again - but she does this herself) Bedtime (she runs into the bedroom and jumps on the bed) Lights Out (she lays down to her area of the bed to sleep) Training she knows: Sit Drop Stand Wait Leave it Come (although her version of Come is literally launching in my arms and her paws hugging my face.. but, at least she has a solid recall, huh?) Give We started on Target training with her, but stopped and started with Clicker Training (due to K9 College training method). We are still working on toilet training. She is awesome when we are at home and can take herself outside, but when we aren't home then she gets naughty. She sleeps through the night now though. Walking on the leash with her is interesting... she can walk nicely on the leash, but most of the time, she forgets she's on the leash and will make a run on something she wants to investigate. Oh yeah, she is a tantrum throwers too. I fall in love with her every single day!
  20. I have to say that Charlie isn't the fan of cold... worst now that he is nearly bald (although his fur is growing back pretty fast). He is his sweater all day, and in the morning when Emmy and I are running around outside, he is buried under my blanket in the bed... only comes out into the living room, if the heater is on
  21. This is how Emmy's breeder vetted me. No questionaire. Just long conversations getting to know each other, talk about the breed, talk about our history with dogs, Charlie's health etc... then she offered me Emmy
