  1. About a year ago... I had a house guest name Cooper (maltese x shih tzu) for about 5 weeks while his family were going to France. He was partly deaf, hyperactive and no mannered 13 years old dog, who there was a time, that drove me up the wall, but a delightful houseguest. Charlie and him adored each other. Today, I found out that he has brain cancer. He has been having seizures for the past few months and no one really knew why... till today. The pass few months, he has slowed down a lot. He can no longer hold his bladder and sleeps a lot more. The vets gave him some pain meds to stop the pain of the swelling of the brain... there is nothing else anyone can do.
  2. 8 hours is the longest either one of my dogs will go without human company... if I have to go out and have plans, I arrange someone to look after them.
  3. Ignore. Or give your pup a toy to play with while you eat or crate/pen your pup.
  4. I love the photo becandcharch!!! I have witness the Ninja Rover.. one minute he was at the dog way and next he was under my feet. Never heard him or see him move!!!
  5. Only my mum does it... all my friends and other family members knows the rules on not feeding Charlie or Emmy random things. They all think I'm crazy dog person, but they all love my dogs and so they just follow the rules. Charlie doesn't take food off people he doesn't know... something he has always done, and I've never discouraged it. Emmy is guts.. eats everything and anything you give her. The boyfriend and I are guilty of sometimes sharing our food with the dogs. Emmy licks my bowl/plate after dinner sometimes (it's either her or the boyfriend).
  6. Charlie has mastered the whole big SIGH when he doesn't get his own way. He turns his back towards me, flop down on the floor and gives me the big sigh too. Emmy is easily distracted to sulk. I step on her foot accidently and she LIMPS away being all pathetic shooting me the 'you hurt me mummy... you're mean" looks, but I walk into the kitchen and she perks up and rushes towards the kitchen hoping she will get a treat from her favorite thing in the world... the fridge! she will roll on her back so I can check her foot and everything.
  7. I use Aloveen shampoo and conditioner. Emmy gets bathe whenever needed. She has a habit of getting in the shower with me basically every night now though, so once I dry her, I rub in the conditioner throughout her body. She always smells so nice and is very very white. Although, I wish she stops coming into the shower with me (she knows how to open my shower sliding door herself).
  8. Oh no... poor Morrison! :D to you. Did this happen on the streets? Parks? Like the other suggested.. once Morrison gets better, arrange doggie play dates for him with calm dogs.
  9. Serious? Absolutely. Google it. Low levels of antibiotics cure eyestaining too. I'd not recommend that as a long term way of dealing with it either. I will google it!! Thanks!! Sorry for taking over your thread sosboots.
  10. Chicken wings, frames and necks are very popular in my house, as well as turkey necks and lamb bones. They get bones basically every single day.. either for dinner or lunch. They are also fed BARF and at least once a week they get sardines or something fishy. Emmy's dry food is Advance Puppy Plus. Charlie is now on Advance Adult food too.
  11. also apple cider vinegar in her water will help with the tear stains too. A groomer, I think, on this forum suggested it to me, and I tried it. It looks like it's working. Emmy gets half a teaspoon of tomato paste every morning before breakfast and she loves it. The stains around the eyes are fading.
  12. Hi Welcome. 1. My little one has tear stains too and I started a thread about it a while ago tear stains I have to say that tomato paste is working... I've seen a difference! 2. As for licking... ummm.. some dogs are just lickers? I taught mine to lick on command, and that's stopped them from licking crazily. 3. some dogs pee when they get excited (my two don't). what do your friends do when they see your pup? Do they ignore the pup or go cuddle and play with your pup? I ignore (and get my visitors) to ignore my dogs if they are excited. They only get patted and attention when they are calm.
  13. My little girl has a fleece blanket and pillow (in the bathroom) or a mink blanket (in the living room)
  14. This happens to me too. The boyfriend and I will step in between the dog and Charlie... we distract the other dog to come over for a pat or simply block off the rush from Charlie. I will say 99% of the time the dogs are over excited and will come for the pat and then we distract the dog till Charlie comes over to say the hello. If Charlie keeps his distance, we call the owner over to get their dog/s.
  15. Emmy loves chomping on them but she doesn't really eat them... so carrots is strictly an outside food now.
  16. Emmy is about 3 kg... i give her half a carrot to chomp on (she loves it more after I put it in the freezer). I usually give it to her every second day, because I also give her a bone every other day.
  17. everything is usually more expensive on the east coast
  18. The Siblings napping together...
  19. It all does come to do the dog temperament, training, how much you spend time with the dogs... I have 2 small breed dogs (Cav x and Japanese Spitz) and they only bark when there is a reason to bark (eg, unfamiliar noise) or when they are playing. Other from that, they are pretty quiet. Our neighbour has as Pug that never shuts up when it's left outside and I always thought that Pugs were quiet little dogs
  20. I would use to say behind me or beside me... Charlie still walks beside me or behind me, but that's because he walks slowly now and takes his time doing things. I wouldn't actually call my walks with Emmy.. Walks. It's more of an adventure. You can never know what Miss Em would do or want to do. I would like her to walk beside me without pulling and just enjoy simply walking beside me, but we are still working on it.
