I was told that some dogs just like eating grass Emmy likes licking the dew off the grass in the morning, but if she eats grass, she will sometimes throws up. Not all the time, but it has happened on one or two occasion. Charlie always graze and he never threw up eating it. My dogs will pull out the grass and eat the root of the grass too.

I call both my dogs mutts. Although, Emmy is a purebred. There is no discrimination in my household It all depends on how people say and the reason on saying it.

Emmy nips harder when she is hungry too. If she is more hyper (then usual).. it means she is hungry and tired. So, after a good feed, she will go outside do her business, and get on the couch for a snooze. But she doesn't get fed till she calms down.

Wizzle: I kinda don't agree denying a pup water (especially as youngs as yours) water. Certain weathers, the pup needs to drink. But, I agree with taking pup out after eat, play and sleep is a good idea. it's all about being consistence about it.

Like aussielover said, he is probably excited. Is there a reason why you can't let him out and have a run around, while you guys get ready for work... or your husband? Emmy wakes up all happy and excited about starting the day.. she goes and makes sure that the boyfriend, Charlie and I know that she is awake and she is happy. I take her outside to do her business.. then we come back inside for serious morning cuddles time On weekends, she knows it's sleep in time, so once we get back in bed.. she goes and cuddle right now to the boyfriend and goes back to sleep.

I skin the chicken wings and cut it at the joints and give them to my 2. I give the wing tips to either my friend who foster cats.

Emmy loves the broom... she sees it and does her happy spins, and then she goes on attack mode when I start sweeping. Very cute. But I don't mind it and I find it amusing... but if things get to much, i can easily distract her with something else (usually a treat).

The boyfriends will always stop to pat a Malamute.. he will deny it but they are his favorite breed. when our neighbours malamute comes out, the boyfriend will always go over for a pat and occassionally sneak in some treats for her. She is beautiful. Got upset when he sees Malamutes pups in pet stores... not really other dogs, only the Mallys. I just love spitz breed... always going to have one (or two or three). We are going to have disagreements when it's time for our next dog!! Growing up with mostly cross breeds, I'm always going to have a soft spot for them too.

Since I got Charlie I've never been able to have a whole banana or apple to myself at home. He must always insist with share. Now, with Emmy, she is the same. I use to make a fruit salad to take to training for Charlie.

There is an offleash park at Gladesville/Huntley Cove. It's private so it's nowhere near traffic, and there is a water area too (people go fishing and some dogs likes jumping into them). It's our favorite dog park.

Charlie is not a pushy dog at all and because of that, whatever Charlie wants, Charlie gets. But, he he knows he isn't allow to jump on the bed or use the stairs, so he will let out a bark to let us know that he is stuck or wants to go up or down. Now that Emmy has settled down... we realise that she's not pushy at all, although, if you push her into doing something she doesn't want to do.. she will push back. But, depending on the situations, it mostly comes down to deaf ears. Only time when she can be pushy is when someone is eating, she will jump on the person hoping to get some. But, we just gently push her off and ignore.

Nothing has really changed after getting Emmy, only I have a little more time for me, because my 2 have each other to play instead of Charlie following me around. But, sometimes, I get 2 dogs following me around instead of one. The boyfriend and I make sure that both dogs needs are fulfilled, and both get a lot of individual attention too. Emmy just fit in the family straight away, so we never had any drama about her settling her.

Emmy is going through her bitey phase now... and she has razor sharp teeth. I have cuts, scratches and dents in my hands and wrist to prove it.. It's a firm UH HUH and a gentle push away and getting ignored for a few seconds... then I give her a toy for her to chew on. Or, I give her some ice, just in case her gums are sore (because she is teething). Emmy sees ice and thinks it's her birthday. With kids, once the puppy get excited... get them to stop playing. Get all the kids to stand up, cross their arms around their chest and look at anything but the puppy. Then ignore. Tell them to be calm, because once the puppy realise that no one is playing with it... it will calm down too. Play with puppy when it's calm. Ignore puppy when it's excited and bitey. This is how I teach my friend's kids when Emmy gets excited playing with them. My friend's 4 years old, is the best at it. When Emmy just using her mouth in play, he stands up and tell her 'uh huh.. not playing with you'.. cross his arms, looks in the air and stands very still... till Emmy quits being crazy. Then makes Emmy sits, and pick up a toy and throw it, so Emmy can fetch.

Ohh.. poor Tango. Sending healing vibes to him. E collar is just a plastic thing around his head. None of my dogs ever had to wear one... so I don't know how it works.

I am going away this weekend so I can have a solid 8 hours sleeps with no interuption... I've haven't had a solid 8 hours sleeps since I got Emmy. First thing I asked the place I'm going too was how comfortable their bed was.

LOL.. how random. My boyfriend email me this list this morning out of the blue: Finnish Lapphund - Terrence Whitaker Samoyed - Sampson Worthington Malamute - Maximus Maximus He has even named our future dogs I think my household will always be a Spitz Breed household.

Hehehe, yes we're in Sydney! We live near Greystanes... I have been searching for other Japanese Spitzs for playdates... Surely Codi can't be a snob to his own kind? Lol. My Cavalier lives with mum in the Hills... I didn't take her when I moved out as my new house has no yard and she grew up there with a big backyard. Not to mention mum would be lonely without her. Hmm, must find out more about PAX? I was also recommended getting someone to come and house sit and mind the dog... I have to say I wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of someone in my home for 2 weeks though? Can you leave Codi at your mum's place?

Ohhh... a Japanese Spitz in Sydney, who's on this forum.. where about in sydney are you at? Hanrob is kinda a rip off in my opinion. I hear rave review about PAX too haha.. i have a cav x too!

My Charlie doesn't really like playing fetched either. He does sometimes, but most of the time, I throw the ball and he looks at me as though saying 'you gotta be kidding, right?' then turns away and walk off to another toy to chew on. He likes sniffing stuff and so my games are with him are smelling and searching based games. Hide his treats around the yard or house, and make him search for it. It makes him use his brains too. Emmy likes playing fetch (not with a ball.. but with a stuff toy).. but she loves chasing games!! I get her some cat toys.. the one with a stick and there is a toy hanging off a string. She sees that, and she goes mental.. I hold the stick and tease her with it... she will stalk it, launch at it and we spend literally hours playing that toy. We even bought a toy mouse that runs around the house... both my dogs are in love with that toy. They catch it and give it back to me, so I can wind it up again and let it go so they can chase it again. It's the cutest thing. So, it's just finding what your dog likes doing and make a game out of it. Or did you want to teach your Charlie how to fetch?

my brother's beagle is like that when he stayed with me on the weekend. What I did with him, was gently push him off the couch and make him sit.. then reward him. and keep repeating him. if he is on the couch, he just going to get pushed off and get nothing. once he is on the floor, he gets a treat (he is a sucker for food) and a huge play sessions and plenty of cuddles (he is a huge sook too). He learnt that on the couch he won't get food and attention, but if he is on the floor.. he does. So, after a few times, he rather hang out on the floor because that's where the action is I'm lucky because he only sleeps in his crate..
