  1. that's great they are taking it seriously!!
  2. Dogs don't have power vacuums. Who steps up when you aren't there? That's the question I've been asking... I think, right now, I would have to say Charlie, because is more confident and Emmy is still a pup.
  3. Interesting... I'm definitely boss at home. Just wondering when Emmy comes out of her puppy hood if she will take the top position (like everyone says she will), but seriously she seems like the dog who would rather follow then lead. Charlie is just... well, Charlie. He is a mama's boy.. so as long as he has his mummy, he is happy.
  4. Everyone keeps telling me that when Emmy gets older, she's going to the boss over Charlie. She's going to be the dominant one at home. I don't see it... my 2 takes their turn bossing (and tormenting) each other, they are fine sharing food, toys and they just follow each other around. Emmy runs to Charlie when she isn't feeling sure about anything, and it's always her that will seek him out for affection too. Charlie lets Emmy do whatever but will put her in her place if she gets out of line. Then, again, if Charlie is being a pain in the butt, Emmy will make is very clear that she doesn't like him doing that. So, in multi dog household, does one dog have to be in charge of the doggie pack? Someone told me that there is always going to be one dog that is going to be in charge. But, with my 2, I can't see either one of them in charge over the other. Then, again, Emmy is still a puppy... so things can change. Growing up.... I don't remember any of my old dogs were boss. There were definitely grumpy ones and ones that has issues, but I wouldn't consider them alpha dog. Dad was the boss at home.
  5. if Charlie's paws get wet... he will shake his body as though his whole body is drenched. when he is actually all wet all over... he will throw a tantrum till you put a towel on the floor and he sits there looking at me in a pathetic sad look as though 'mummy i'm wet. i don't like it' and I have to dry him off with a towel and get the blow drier out till he is satisfied again. he won't shake his body to help me dry him quicker.
  6. Deals direct has crates that's reasonable price... I'm totally against crate training at first, but now I think it's very handy crate
  7. Maybe because Hannah is excited about her dinner?
  8. :D that's horrible!! sending all healing vibes and positive vibes towards you guys!!!
  9. awww.. that's awesome!! I love the pic of them sleeping together!
  10. Someone suggested that Charlie should be one (pre sickness) because he has the right temperament for it and he is really really good with children. I love Rover and Jedi. At the picnic, I kept sneaking pats and cuddles whenever they were close by
  11. Emmy spins when she gets excited about something, always anti clock wise and she only spins twice.
  12. While eating.. Emmy takes a big mouthful out of her bowl and spit it out to the ground and then eat it from the floor. We have changed bowls, used plates and everything... she will still do that. While she is eating biscuits, she only gets 3 out at the time.. sits down and slowly and carefully chew them and the gets up for 3 more.. Charlie has a thing for people blowing their nose too. He insist to have the tissue or hankie after the person has used it Oh, and when he eat fish.. he thinks he is a cat.. he will lick his paws afterward. He only does it after he eat fish.. I think he copies that off my dad's cat and they shared a tin of sardines together when he was younger.
  13. Charlie has free rein of the whole house from day dot. He was toilet trained by 12 weeks... and if he did any pee or poo inside, he will find newspaper and do it on that... but we always had the back door open for him to come in and out. He isn't a destructive pup at all. Emmy is another story. I've only just started to leave my bedroom door open at night where she gets access to the hallway, bathroom, kitchen/dining area (i leave the backdoor open for her so she can take herself outside and not wake me up anymore)... and so far so good. When I'm at work.. she only has access to the hallway, bathroom, living room, kitchen/dining and I have the backdoor open. So far so good. When I'm at home, she has free rein to the whole house except the study room, clothes room and toilet (she has a thing for toilet paper)... I'm starting to leave the bedroom door open now. She is a very curious pup and has the need to stick her nose into everything, then taste everything and leave her mark (teeth marks) onto everything she has sniffed. She has been so good lately... I decided to give her more "freedom". So far so good
  14. I'm glad I'm not the only one who says this ;) Or "Chuckster, you already have enough toys at home you don't need another one" he gives me a sad look with a toy in his mouth "you really really want that toy, huh?" still looking at me with the big brown eyes and i'm totally melting "ok, chuckster, you can get that toy... we just have to hide it from daddy and when you bring it out, we have to pretend it's an old toy you haven't played with for a while, ok?" the store people (we all are on first name base now) all think i'm a little loony too
  15. I do this for my Mr Wentworth... he isn't a fan of being wet. But, do what persephone said about taking walk in the rain and stuff. Emmy forget to do her business outside if it's raining because she is having too much fun catching it. She doesn't like me drying her off though
  16. All the time... my neighbours are convince that I'm a nutter. I have had the smirks, the WTF looks and other funny looks while I walk the dogs on a daily basis...
  17. I post this on the Spitz thread too.. but decided to post here too I just want to brag, how proud of Emmy lately! The past few weeks, she has settled down a lot she is still feisty and somewhat a brat, but also she is becoming more and more affectionate, focus and simply an awesome puppy (she always awesome.. but more so lately). On Saturday (before the lappie picnic) we went to Obedience and she was simply awesome. The other dogs were playing up, and there was a dog there that had DA.. and he was just sitting in class in the corner to watch the class. And, Emmy was placed to sit next to him (because she was the calmest in the class that day) and she was so good. It was as though she knew that dog had a problem, so she had to be calm. By the end of the class, they lay about a metre away from each other, and the other dog was very calm about it, and didn't even react when Emmy kicked him accidently when she got up and stretch... apparently according to the owners, that's the first! Then at the picnic.. i think she was tired.. but she was so good. She was wary with all the big (and noisy) dogs around, but she didn't throw tantrums or get feisty when other dogs came to her (she did back off a few times nervously though). She did a lot better than I imagine. That night, after a rest, my cousins with their new puppy. Miss Emmy was so good with him too. She played with it gently, she taught him how to play bow and play chase around the house.. when they played tug and war, Emmy was gentle and didn't tug so hard (because if she tugged hard.. that tiny 1.4kg puppy will be flying across the room!), she didn't mind when Casper (the little puppy) went to lay right next to her while chewing on a toy and she was resting (mind you they were all laying in Charlie's little day bed with Charlie already in here.. so it was a very tight squeeze in there).
  18. One dog we had was a fast and nervous eater, we had to put his bowl on box, that slowed down his eating a bit because it didn't let him have his head in his bowl. My mum also freezed his meals too.
