  1. Oh that's hilarious - I also sometimes tell Elbie to grow a pair and my OH has to remind me that we've had him desexed and then the guilt sinks in Thing is my dog is supposed to be a hardy, tough working dog. We were warned before we got our dog that kelpies could be aloof, didn't really want affection or human closeness etc. Hmmm. Sorry to hear about Charlie's backbone. Eek! He does so well though! Really? My friend has a kelpie and is a totally daddy's girl. Must always be with him and touching him all the time.. I always thought Kelpies are sooks! It's alright about Charlie's backbone.. he moves around really good and it doesn't bother him
  2. Yeah, i use it. I put a blanket on top. Charlie loves it. Emmy can tolerate it for a few minutes and the it's the cold wooden floors for her.
  3. Ohh.. I have a sook! Charlie. Biggest sook there is. Sometimes he wants to take a nap on the bed but doesn't want to be alone, so he sits on the bed and whinges. He puts his whole body, heart and souls in his whinge session.. it's really pathetic. When I walk into the bedroom, he quickly lies down and put his head on his paws and gives me the 'mummy, i want a nap. please nap with me' looks. So I lay down beside him (yes, he has me whipped). When Emmy goes out to the backyard and he doesn't want to follow.. he will sit in the living room and whinge and cry till she cames back... but she usually comes back and launches at him, then he whinges because she is not nice at him But the worst is when the boyfriend goes home... he will sit by the door, looking out at the window giving him the most saddest puppy does eyes, then walks over to me and sits beside me and whines.. till I tell him to shut up and stop being pathetic. I use to say 'grow a pair' but I had him castrated. then I said 'where's your back bone, man?' and he literally doesn't have one now.. so i had to stop using that too He is over a year old.. apparently he isn't going to grow out of it.
  4. Routine is a big thing in the household since we got Emmy. I do feel for you because i was in the same boat with you for 2 months when I got Emmy... I had to go away for the weekend somewhere to sleep! it was heaven!! I think it takes a while for you to figure out what works for you and Genevieve the best. I did try different ways of how to settle her down... I tried crate, I tried leaving her out in the living room, I tried ignoring her and then when we found something that worked.. it gets easier. Em and I have a big play session (usually fetch) and if she still wired, we got for a quick walk around the block, then she goes outside to do her business, then she waits for her pig ear or kanga bone on her heated bed on the floor and once I give it to her she settles down. In the mean time, I have Charlie settled on the bed. When I tell her light's out, Emmy jumps on the bed and makes her self comfortable. Charlie, even has a puppy, is a night owl. He will get up at 2 - 2.30am, I will put him on the floor and he will go and start chewing on the pig ear or kanga bone I have Emmy earlier in the night and then fall asleep on the heated bed till the alarm goes off, then I pick him up to put in bed for our morning cuddles. Then he remains in bed sleeping while I take Emmy out for her morning walk..
  5. take to the vet to see what they say what to put on it? need to know why the dog is itchy before treating it
  6. Is Emmy a pink girl by any chance? I think she may have a bit in common with Genevieve! I love the paws on it! Yep... everything about her is pink
  7. This is my understanding on reactive dogs. Emmy is not aggressive.. but she will react (bolting is her style) with things if she gets startled.
  8. how cosy! I love how your OH is spooning Shyla and Shyla's head is on his shoulder very cute..
  9. no competition.. Charlie!! sure.. he spends 80% sleeping...
  10. Yeah.. Emmy. I can start to read her better and better.. but there are times where it's still unpredictable. Emmy is very easily startled and is wary about new people, animals and situations. As long as I prepare her with things (like give her heads up when people are approaching or distract her with something), then she will be fine... still be a little stand offish but calm. when she gets more confident and secure, she will be good.
  11. I don't think he is allergic, but the vet gave him an antihistamine shot to be on the safe side. Golly these dogs turn out to be really bullies, don't they? You have no idea... i stepped on Emmy's paw and you should hear and see how she carried on... i'm surprised my neighbours hasn't called the RSPCA or something.. it was all cured once i gave her some cheese.
  12. Poor Zedley.. he isn't allergic to bees is he? Bad mummy You should see the looks Charlie gives me when I don't dry him quick enough when he gets wet..

    Puppy Limping

poor puppy Just wait for a few days and let her rest for a few day, if she's still limping.. you can ask for a xray
  17. i just had to take a photo of this...
  18. when charlie has an upset stomach.. I don't feed him anything for 24 hours. then give him a boil rice and chicken for a few days. hope your pup feels better soon!
  19. Charlie recovered within 24 hours... but sooked it up for 10 days I don't think Emmy has realise she had an operation (she was just desexed last Friday).. she's so busy living her life, she doesn't realise she has stitches in at the moment. Neither one of them licked their stitches.
  20. that'st much more awesome then the box I put at the end of my bed for Emmy!
