  1. Charlie is passive. Kind of. He is generally a very easy going guy, very laid back and is happy to do whatever I'm doing. I mean, it helps that he sleeps a lot too. But, at the same time, he is very curious guy. He needs to go and check things out and say hello to people, once he is does all that, he is satisfied and go back into his bed and watch (but mostly sleeps). This is a dog that we have to bribe and beg to get out of bed in the morning, because he refuse to wake up! The only thing that can perk him up and he gets excited about is going for a walk (or in our house.. it's "Lets Go"). He loves his outings. But nothing bothers Charlie. A bomb can go off outside and he won't react to it. He might give me a confused look, but then continue doing what he was doing. Emmy reacts to everything and very excitable. She must be part of EVERYTHING.
  2. They don't have a theme song.. but the boyfriend likes making up songs with their names in it. Both of them loves it, because they sing along with him
  3. Oh.. I thought Vic was on the state that breeder must microchip pups before selling Learn something new everyday on DOL!
  4. It's illegal to sell a puppy if they haven't been microchipped in some states and territory. All registered breeders will have to microchip their puppies before selling..
  5. Ohh.. my 2 loves Nina Ottosson toys... whenever I bring it out, I get a happy spin from Emmy and an approval bark from Charlie... they really get into it.
  6. I'm taking my 2 down Pyrmont (by the water) on Sunday (22nd August) about 1ish. If anyone is interested in coming out... COME The park is called Pirrama Park
  7. He sound like an amazing dog. RIP Paddy
  8. awww... Yeah. My mum rings up just to check up on 'her girl'... making sure that she's ok. I told her that Emmy has been teething, so she's coming on Monday to make her congee (asian rice soupy dish). my mum rarely ask if i'm doing ok or anything. My sister and the boyfriend's brother heart dog is Charlie... when i go away, there is usually a little war between those 2 on who gets to have Charlie... it's very funny. I have to admit that I have a very soft spot for Corvus's lappie, Kivi. I've met him a few times, and each time I meet him.. a I fall for him just a little bit more It's hard not too.. especially the cuddles he gives me.
  9. Yeah.. some people just don't get it or stupid. I feel your frustration too
  10. Charlie is a lot of people's heart dog too...
  11. Is your dog someone else heart dog? Emmy is my mum's heart dog. My mum goes bragging about Emmy to everyone... how cute she is, how smart she is, how awesome she is. Her friends pull our grandkids photos.. my mum shows them Emmy pics (I have to email her weekly photos of Miss Em to her) I've never ever seen my mum like this to any other dogs before... but from the moment she met Emmy, it was love at first sight. Whenever she comes to visit.. she always makes sure that Emmy has a gift (Charlie too, but Emmy more). She likes taking Emmy for a walks, she grooms Emmy too and always ask me to leave Emmy with her for a sleep over and stuff... oops.. i post this on wrong area.. should be in general dicussion but continue replying ;)
  12. aww.. woger. I love his huge grins though.. forgive him for anything if he shot me one of those smiles :p Like this one? ;) :) YES!!!!!! love it!
  13. Same. The current favourites with my tribe are the ones with a rattle in them. The latest craze here is this cat toys. It's a snail that when you pull a string, it shakes and moves. Emmy brings it over to me so I can pull the rope, so she walks around the house with this stuff snail shaking in her mouth Charlie likes chasing it.. it's slow and he is slow.. so love to chase it in his own speed
  14. Charlie does sometimes.. but that's because he forgets to stop and pee and how his body curves when he goes does his business when he squats. Usually he cock his leg up, but when he squats to do his business.. it can get messy. Yes, we give his legs a wash regularly too. There isn't anything I can really do about it but wash his legs all the time.
  15. aww.. woger. I love his huge grins though.. forgive him for anything if he shot me one of those smiles Ohh.. I know that look!!! Charlie is stubborn and determined little fella. - When we play "Search"... he won't give up till he finds every object he knows that I hid around the house. This can entertain him for hours! - If we have one of his toys on top of the draw and he wants it, he will sit there watching it.. waiting till I walk pass and bark at me till i get it for him. he could sit there for an hour watching that toy waiting for someone to walk into the room or pass. - He won't do anything till he ready to do it and he doesn't like to be rushed.
  16. I remember when Charlie was barely 3 months old, he got lost in the pillow case (with the pillow in there).. when he goes exploring on the bed as a pup. I come out of the shower and see my pillow bouncing around on the bed. When I got him out, he gave me the look saying 'Aww, ma, i was having fun in there' and tries to go back into the pillow case!
  17. woohoo!! that's awesome Good for you! and, what a good girl Georgia is
  18. The Afgan Hound Club of NSW organise lurecoursing during the winter months on a regular base (about monthly) at Erskine Park - here's the details of their May day, you would need to contact Susan to find out when the next one will be. Lure Coursing Fun Day Sunday May 9th, 2010 Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs, Erskine Park Lure coursing is a performance event developed in the early 70's by sighthound fanciers who hunted jackrabbits in the open field, which risked the harm caused by barbed wire fencing. They invented lure coursing as a safer, more controlled sport for sighthounds that would recreate the physical requirements of open field coursing, allowing them to continue testing the functional abilities of their sighthounds. Lure coursing aims to preserve and develop the coursing skills inherent in the sighthounds and to demonstrate that they can perform the functions for which they were originally bred. The hounds chase plastic bags on a course laid out to simulate escaping game. The plastic bags are pulled around on a nylon string course, propelled by a hand controlled motor. Who – The day is being run buy the Afghan Hound Club of NSW and all people and all breeds are welcome! What – The cost will be $4 for the first run $3 subsequent runs. 19. Charlie lost a little bit of weight when he was teething.. but once his teeth grew back, he ate non stop for a few days afterwards
  20. Aww.. poor thing! Charlie was a little like this.. but it was like all his teeth came out at once (seriously.. i checked his mouth and all of the top row of his teeth was missing.. a week later.. i checked again and all his bottom front teeth was gone).. I fed him some soft food like mince and I crushed up his kibbles and mixed some sardines in it... he loved it. The other day.. I saw Emmy losing a teeth, and I gave her a small block of frozen beef mince.. the ice numbed her gum and once it was soft enough, she ate the mince too (she bite into a chicken neck and lost the tooth in the chicken neck). She was happy with that. I give them a lot of ice or frozen stuff for them to chew on.. they really love it.
  21. Emmy was back to herself as soon as she woke up from the operation apparently. When I took her home, she was doing zoomies and jumping off things the minute we let her out in the backyard to do her business... I had her done on Friday, so I could have the weekend with her to supervise her. She was good.. she forgot she had surgery and she was too busy to lick her stitches. My worries was it has been raining, so I didn't want her stitches to get wet. I gave up trying to keep her calm and rested after a few hours though. Charlie I took a few days off.. but he was fine when he got home too. But, sooked the whole 10 days when he had the stitches... he never licked it or anything, but he knew it was there and he didn't like it.
