  1. Yeah we have also tried this! Same results as you! Guess which was the one who wandered around???? I've done this with Charlie and Emmy. Emmy got out within seconds, Charlie end up falling asleep waiting for me to get it off him. He didn't even wander. Just laid there calmly and waiting patiently... :p
  2. ;) I think he is the smart one...
  3. sending healing vibes to Mia and hugs you, your partner and Charlie!!
  4. is your pup crated trained? You can put the crate in your room... maybe she just wants to sleep near you guys. I think that would be better letting her sleep in a crate in your room is a lot better than letting her bark and cry for hours and you going to her so she can sleep. Charlie and Emmy has been sleeping in my bed or in my room from day one. now that weather is getting a little warmer, Charlie goes to the floor or the hallway to sleep now but Emmy is still young and still likes to sleep with me, but I think when summer hits she will want to sleep on the wooden floors or in the bathroom.
  5. No treats??? how did you train her then? toys? I'm surprised they expected all puppies to use toys as a reward. Yep.. what corvus said. The class provide the treats It was kibbles or dry liver treats (chicken roll if there was a difficult puppies)
  6. maybe it's a smaller breed thing? It's kinda a rare thing that my 2 are fed before 8pm but that's because I only fed them whenever I feel like feeding them And, I usually feel like that when I'm having a down time and just want to sit on the couch by myself for 10 minutes...
  7. are they doing anymore test on him? xray? MRI? spinal tap? It's hard not knowing what's wrong with your dog. I hope they find answers soon. Thinking about you guys and sending healing vibes over.
  8. Yep yep... Emmy has really soft and fluffy fur. It's thicker then her puppy fur, but still very soft and fluffy Same with Charlie.
  9. I was about to post: Until you wake up with a Whippet wrapped around your head or with its bum in your face. The more i hear about whippets the more I'm starting to warm up to them... they sound like clowns! Sorry pomchi for hijacking your thread!
  10. Take her to bed and have morning cuddles ;) Morning cuddles are the best way to start a day hmmmmm I have to disagree lol Having a whippet who insists on either being on top of you or under you is not the best start to the day!
  11. Thanks for heads up.. I hope they get the dog!!
  12. OMG.. how scary! I saw a GSD near Putney's shop loose a few days ago... he was scary! He charged my neighbours elderly pug but luckily there was a few people there to scare him off. My neighbour has reported the incident.

  14. yeah it could be, we are also going to try keeping her up a bit longer before she falls asleep and maybe a play session, see if it makes any difference, I don't mind getting up a bit earlier to let her out but 4am is a bit crazy. We're up at 5am :D We use to be up at 5.30am. Charlie, who use to sleep in to 8am, is up at 6am now. On weekends, we all sleep in till I get out of bed though ;) I find that keeping my 2 up longer doesn't effect what time they wake up... once they sun is out, Emmy is up. She takes herself outside to do her business, and is back on the bed again and lays there to wait till I wake up.
  15. My dogs wakes up earlier now that it's the change of season.. Maybe your pup is the same? I had to so minor adjustments to their morning schedule now.
  16. awww... Emmy was the bully and a complete Diva :D Maybe if your pup is like that you can try to tire him a little before class. Like have a play session or take him for a quick walk before class... so he goes to class a little bit calmer. I found this worked with Emmy. She won't act up in class as much if I tire her out just a little bit. When we get home for puppy class, she goes to her bed and have a nap too
  17. Em was like this. I bring her favorite toy to class so that can distract her while the teacher is talking... or we practice hand signal training. We weren't allow to bring pig ears or treats to puppy class.
  18. Thinking and sending healing vibe for you Jap Spitz! Hope you find out what's wrong with him soon.
  19. I do that too... He is a year old so his main socialisation skill has been done and set. If he gets a hip replacement, those 3 months is a great time to work on trick training When Charlie was sick and couldn't move much, but his brain was still alert.. we do a lot of trick training (mostly target training with his nose and both paws). But going for a drive wouldn't be so bad. Good time to take him out to the park for a picnic and people watching too. I hope your boy get better soon
  20. How old is your pup? I think if he needs to rest for 2 weeks, he won't ruin his social skills or anything. Sounds like you've done a lot of work with him and he sounds like he is a well adjusted pup, I wouldn't be too worried about it. When Charlie was sick... on the days where we felt like he is up to it, we took him on picnic, visit friends house, or just take him out to the cafe while we have lunch. he enjoyed it. He likes new places, meeting new people and checking our new surroundings. But, we only did that for his mental health and not so much socialising. He also likes going for drives
  21. OMG soooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!! Don't eat him!! Smother him with kisses and cuddle him all day instead!! Or better yet... send him to me so I will do it!!!
  22. Ohh.. that's pretty good!!! I need something like that for Emmy.. she finds her tag annoying and always trying to bite it off. Charlie and Emmy just as their name, the boyfriend and my mobile number. But their collar also has the National Register ID tag on it too. Both are also microchipped.
  23. My parents accidently fed Charlie's cat food when he stayed with them one afternoon... nothing happened except he didn't want his food and only wanted the whiskers instead

    Puppy Advise

Hi, congrates on your new pup. Aww... it's still a puppy and only been at his new place for a few days. He's still getting use to his new home so it's going to take a while before he feels comfortable going outside by himself. Just give him some time As he gets older, you can make the backyard fun for him.. like leave out toys for him, treat him outside etc. But, being home for 2 days, just give him time to settle in. As for chewing on furniture etc... give him a lot of toys to chew on, eg Kong. Tire the puppy out with some games and training. Ohh.. you have to post up pics of your new fella
