  1. Charlie is cross shih tzu and he has an underbite You can see his teeth in this pic.
  2. This is true. There are some very sensitive dogs out there.
  3. Maybe you need to find the source of why she is scared and work with it to stop the phobia. Do some desensitisation work with her? Emmy doesn't have any phobia now but she use to be a bolter. Run and hide. But, now, she is getting a lot better. If, she gets unsure and nervous about somethings but she has learned to stand back and wait to see what happens. If she is still unsure, she will go seeks out Charlie or myself or the boyfriend to lean against for comfort.
  4. Despite Charlie being my heart dog and has the best temperament ever... I will probably never get a cross breed again, unless I'm rescuing and I'll be only rescuing senior dogs, as they can live their life being spoilt, loved and happy.
  5. i wouldn't vaccinate my dogs if they aren't 100% either... my vets won't do it anyway.
  6. what a very confusing thread to read
  7. Yes, I believe that puppy do copy other dogs behaviour. I especially see it with my 2. Charlie has really helped me raise and train Emmy. And, I take full advantage of it. She watches Charlie for guidance and notice that if he does certain things then he gets rewarded, so she will do what he does. This has helped me teaching her how to "drop" and to "stand". Charlie is always great meeting strangers and other dogs so I use that to help Emmy, who's use to be, wary of them. I let Charlie go ahead and meet the people and dogs first, and watch Emmy watching. Then she will go over and say hello when people starting patting Charlie, or the dog is relax with Charlie. That helps her. I think she thinks 'oh, charlie is ok.. then i guess it's ok for me to say hello too. I might get some cuddles and pat too!" She has picked up some of his bad habits too... like bringing leaves, sticks and weed into the house. Walking around the house whinging because she doesn't know where to hide her treat. If I had a DA dog, then I wouldn't be getting another puppy/dog till I feel very confident that I have my DA under control. Saying that, each dog is different and you can never really raise the dog the same way. Some dogs needs a firmer hand then other dogs. Both of my 2 have their very own strong personalities too and both are trained in different styles. They have their own quirks and unique personalities.
  8. Charlie does this too He gives me the toy and then 2 seconds later, he wants it back and then invites me to chase him for the toy. I think it does calm him down when he is very excited about something, instead of jumping and carrying on, he grabs a toy to give to me. Emmy doesn't do it... she does her happy dance.
  9. I seriously think that Charlie believes he is a spitz breed!
  10. How old is your pup? Who was looking after Babe while you were gone? Sounds like you have to retrain her and remind her the house rules again!
  11. If you want to see what a real tick look like... you can stop by a vet and ask them. they usually have ticks in jars at the back.
  12. Possum also carry ticks. I use Advantix with my 2
  13. I don't think there is... it's just better to organise a small play group for your puppy with other pups or dogs that are good with other puppies. Not to scare them off.
  14. I'm sorry for your loss. RIP Miss Mimi
  15. thanks they make my life full of love, happiness and joy
  16. It's been a while since I've posted pics of my 2... What is over there? Pinky and the The Brain Emmy: Happy Charlie: Happy My boy My joy
  17. Ohhh... what a cutie!! Happy birthday Monkey!!
  18. Funny HE'S the size of a person and now Druid the irish wolfhound has begun acting like one, too. The Manly Daily reports the 75kg fella performs an amusing trick whenever he visits the Allambie Veterinary Clinic. While other dogs sit patiently on the floor of the waiting room, Druid literally takes a seat next to his owner Pamela Mullan. The Belrose resident said Druid started displaying the remarkable behaviour about one year ago. “One day I brought him up to see Michael (Dr Morrice), Druid took my seat and the next thing I know he had sat down next to me with his bottom on the seat, just like a human,” she said. “I thought it was hilarious.” Mrs Mullan said Druid had become something of a minor celebrity. “He’s become renowned for doing it,” she said. “People see him and ask, ‘what’s he up to now?’ .” But Druid hasn’t stopped there. “He’s started doing it in the car as well,” Mrs Mullan said. “People who see him as we drive past think he is standing and looking out the window but he’s actually sitting like you or I would.”
  19. I bought clippers for Charlie. His chest, legs and butt area gets shaved once a month, it doesn't matter the weather. After his last trip to the groomers, I've decided it best done at home.
  20. Charlie and Emmy got walked 2 x 5 mins a day. Charlie was up and down the street (it was a risky move i know). Emmy was up and down the driveway and a run around in the front yard. But, at that age, I used training as their main exercise. The moment we got them, they came everywhere with us. Shopping, friends house, bbq, picnic etc.. they came along. There is a reason why a dog won't walk... just have to find out the reason. ETA: Charlie says that carry bags are so last year... he travels in style now in his very cool red stroller
