Depends on the puppy. Charlie never had an issue to stay outside by himself from a very young age. He is a confident little fella, that loves to explore. But, it took Emmy more time to go out and about by herself (or be on her own in general), but at 12 weeks, i will walk to the backyard with her and when she is distracted, I will quietly slip into the house without her knowing. When she realise I'm gone, she will run back inside again to make sure I'm still there. Gradually, she stayed outside longer and longer, and now is happy to go outside by herself. ETA: Just want to add that my 2 have access to inside and outside 24/7. Doggie doors are awesome.

Dog Boot Recommentations Please
W Sibs replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
charlie and em has ruffwear booties too.. they are great! -
When our neighbours go away, they just pop their tibbie, Lily, over the fence. Lily runs up & 'knocks' at our back door. When they owned their first tibbie, Brockie, they'd do the same on a very hot day. We had air-conditioning. So they'd pop Brockie over the fence & say, 'Air-conditioning, Brock!'. And up he'd come to 'knock' & enjoy. Here's Lily, then Brockie: ;) Awww... they are cuties!!! maybe it's another reason why i love this little fella  Your OH is such a softie!!

Tomorrow... I get him tonight, and he is staying with me for the whole weekend ;)

That attitudes makes us owners into Tibbie Tragics. They've got this intelligent focus that goes with it. I've just told someone about the one time our 2 tib girls got out. Tradie left 2 gates open. I got a phone call from a Day Care Mum down the road. The tib girls had headed to her house, 'knocked' on the door & were welcomed in. Tibbies & children were in Cuddle Heaven. Little wretches had headed for lots of loving & knew where to find it. Very clever and very cute!! The image of the 2 tibbies knocking on the door is too funny. I've heard stories about them.. how really great they are. Now I've met one and know one, all those stories are true. You simply fall in love with them within a minute.

Can't blame him. Casper is the first Tibbie I've met. I just love his happy go lucky attitude and adventerous spirit... always up for anything. Reminds me of Charlie before he was sick

I would say he is hot too. Give him a cool place to lay down and plenty of fresh clean water to drink. -

Aww that's so cute Bub! Charlie is Mama's Boy. Emmy is Daddy Girl. But, I think he loves Charlie that little bit more. Charlie is his first dog ever, but he loves that Emmy is always following him and "helping" him do things. Charlie will cuddle with him if I'm not there, but as soon as I walk into the room, Charlie will leave him to be with me. Dogs is a very new thing to him (and his family). But, he is very hands on and very involved with the dogs. Only thing he doesn't do with them is training and giving them a bath. But, he does do the grooming on Charlie (which means.. shaving the fur on his legs, chest and butt). I like that he doesn't have interest in dog training and just enjoy them for them. Now, that he knows how important it is for dogs to have rules inside the house, he has learned to respect them, and make sure the dogs are kept in line. He talks to them, cuddles them, plays with them and, unfortunately, sings to them. When Charlie was sick, he was never embrassed to push Charlie around in his stroller when we go for our walks and will always make that extra effort to make sure that Charlie and Emmy are happy and safe.

You can use tug as a reward? Does she like playing tug? Food is a hit and miss with Emmy too but she will work for a game of tug ETA: What food are you using for treats? Does she have a favourite food that she will go nuts for? Charlie will work his little butt off for a Tic Tac and Roast Chicken.

agree. my 2 have too much of a high prey drive to live peacefully with chickens or any other small animals. they would do anything to get to them.

Oh, I feel the same with Emmy If Emmy had it her way, she will be playing with me every day and all day. But, it's important to let her figure out how to entertain herself (even if it means just sleeping). Emmy gets plenty of attention from me (and everyone), so there is no need for her to feel sad.

Happy Birthday Rommi!!!

Does your pup seems like he is uncomfortable? Is he eating and drinking properly? Going to toilet normally? Sometimes Charlie (my CKCS x) gets dry nose and mouth but I notice that happening when the air is dry. Unless he is showing me any signs of being tired, weariness or he isn't acting like himself... I'm not overly concern. Charlie isn't a huge water drinker by nature. Sometimes he has one huge drinking session and that will last him for the day (and the dogs have 4 drinking stations around the house).

I can see and hear the Sydney fireworks from my house... Charlie is pretty much bomb proof. He doesn't react to many things. Emmy, to my surprise, did really really well. At first she was curious, but got bored of that quickly and went to the backyard to do zoomies with our house guest (a very sweet and happy Tibbie who wasn't phased about the fireworks either) who was staying with us for the night. She slept through the midnight fireworks too.

my thought exactly!! He is so damn adorable

Walking/exercising Dogs In The Hot Weather
W Sibs replied to shells's topic in General Dog Discussion
Very early walks and very late walks. Or throw them in the pool :D Hot days... Charlie is often found sleeping under my bed and Emmy is sleeping in the shower stall. -
I bought a pup from VIC and I'm from NSW. I went to pick her up on a long weekend. We had 8 hours of bonding in the car with her What pup are you getting?
