  1. I will get her thoroughly checked up from the vet to make sure that she is physically well. But I have to agree with the others saying it sounds like submissive urination too.
  2. My boy loves hunting for lizards too but he also sleeps 22 hours of the day too. With Emmy, who also has high prey drive and low food drive, it's all about training that involves a lot of tug. Also I walk her every single morning, have a massive play session with her, then some training that includes a lot of tug (this is done usually between me getting ready for work) and by the time I leave, she should be settled enough where she usually sleeps or chew on her favourite toys.
  3. Bitty and Bubby relationship sounds like Charlie and Emmy!!. Only Charlie tells Emmy off more than 3 times!! But Emmy has this cute high pitch bark she does to Charlie when he wants something he has because there are times where she can't go up to Charlie and take it from him, cause the look he gives her. When she does this, I call it her 'little sister trick' on Charlie. Charlie ALWAYS gives in to her. She can get him to do anything and everything she wants. Charlie loves his little sister though and she is very protective of him. He squeals and she drops everything to go over to make sure he is ok. Emmy is a follower and happy to follow. It will stress her out if she has to lead... She is bottom of the pack but she is confident there.. she knows her place, she knows the rules, she has her pack and she is happy
  4. I wouldn't use HWI for my 2. It's easy enough to give them sentinal once a month and frontline every 2 weeks for ticks.
  5. This device will be a waste on my 2... even if we go camping or hiking. Charlie is too slow to run off and Emmy is never far from me or Charlie. But it will be great if I had an escape artist though.
  6. awww... so cute. what a great addition to your family
  7. I think that's natural to worry especially if they have health issue. I always worry about my 2...
  8. Would you say dominant dogs equals how confident they are? Charlie - very chill, laid back of dog who does not show any aggression at all. Confident dog who is happy doing himself. He does what he wants, when he wants. Confident in himself that he is always relax and can sleep anywhere. Emmy - hyper, reactive, she always needs attention! Needs to be in people face. Very insecure. Funny enough, people thinks she is the dominant one.
  9. My brother and my FSIL told me that their second beagle beagle is a hermaphrodite... the recently moved back to Canberra and is going to specialist there to sort out the issue.
  10. Oh... it's never easy leaving Charlie at the vets, even if it's for a few hours!! But, when I'm there, I'm all cool, calm and collected because I don't want him to pick up my nervous/worried energy. He knows what's going on, but doesn't fret or anything. I would like to believe it's because he knows I'm always going to come back to get him. Which I always do. When I get in the car, that's a total different story... that's when I get all worried about him. Riley will be fine You will get through this.
  11. Sooo cute!! Sid is so gorgeous and so happy to hear that Lola loves him too!! I love the last pic... (Charlie looks at Emmy exactly the same way)
  12. Yep but they will also come looking for me when someone ask 'where's the Boss?' too. I don't like the term "furkids" either.
  13. here's another one pen not sure how sturdy they are... but if you go to bunnings to have a look?
  14. camping pen (I have one of these for Charlie and Emmy... ) or just go to Bunnings and buy a pen that looks something like this pen
  15. You kinda also have to make that you're more fun and more interesting to follow too. So, yeah, talking to him, praising him what an awesome pup he is and how awesome he is walking along (he doesn't understand you but he understand your enjoyment)... when you stop, pat and praise him for doing an awesome job walking and then reward him for some "free" time.
  16. Yes, I think this goes in the book of "Universally understood words". My boy also understands and responds to my cocked eye-brow, which is generally accompanied with a "I don't think so" look from me. I think I have the same look that I use on Charlie. He knows exactly what I mean when I give him the LOOK...
  17. what pers said... just keep walking.
  18. I had one dog that he likes chewing on other dogs ear... we always knew which dog he has been playing with because their ears were wet with slobber. He never outgrew that weird habit of his. Emmy likes to groom Charlie and as a puppy she liked pulling on his ears, tails and now sometimes she still likes playing with with Charlie's floppy ears. Charlie doesn't seem to mind, he just sits/lays there and let her do whatever she wants. Charlie is a pretty laid back kind of dog that puts up with a lot of Emmy's antics.
  19. I take my 2 camping all the time. The others have put a list of what you should bring... I would still put tick and flea treatment (no matter where you're going) though. Rather be safe than sorry. My advice is not tether though... a pen or crate is much safer for the pup (and less headache for you). Especially for a small pup who loves exploring and doesn't realise what he is doing The long leash gets tangled, caught on things and it's much more of a hassle. We had Emmy tethered and spend most of the time supervising her and getting her untangled that we just put her in her crate because we were getting annoyed.
  20. I use Sentinel Spectrum. Never had a problem with it.
  21. A selling point for me when it came to Emmy's breeder is that she told me the starts feeding her pup raw when they are 6 weeks old. But, the dry food she recommend me feeding Emmy, I didn't want too. I put her on a better dry food :D I will listen and take on board what breeders suggest I will feed the pups (and will give it a go), but at the end of the day, I think I will end up feeding my dog what is best for them.
