You have just describe my relationship with Charlie. Charlie is my Other Half. He knows me better than anyone else. I can show the world that I'm happy and fine even when I'm sad, but he knows and comes and rest his head on my lap and sits with me knowing his present comforts me. Emmy and I connected straight away too although not instantly like Charlie did. Emmy is the sweetest dog I've ever own and is soo affectionate and she's my funny girl. Even though she gave me hell with toilet training, has no attention span, doesn't have an off switch button... I never thought about giving her up. It wasn't until she was 6 months old that I really really fell in love with her. I mean I was nuts about her from the get go and we just clicked, but it wasn't until she calm down that I'm like 'You're an awesome dog'. Training is a game for Emmy, she loves it. She rather do trick training then obedience though, but I think it's because she's a show off and picks up tricks after one go.

First time I left Charlie for more then a week, Charlie, my heart dog and i'm his heart person, who has been missing me terribly and sits by the door waiting and pining for me... sees when when I walk into the door, he is like 'oh you're back'... comes over with his whole body wagging, sit down in front of me, lick my shins, scratch his ear, and gives me a look as though 'hey mum' and then walks away. Then sleeps for 2 days straight because during the 2 weeks I was away, he never properly slept or rested. It was as though, Mum is home and everything is ok again. Second time, he was busy hunting lizards to realise I was home. Third time, he was eating a pigs ear, looks up at me 'hey mum' and continue eating. Emmy: She puts her heart and soul into everything she does. First time I was away from her for more than a week, I remember coming home thinking 'Emmy will be excited to see me' because by this stage, I knew how Charlie will act. I remember her running into the house from the backyard, she saw me and her eyes lit up 'Oh Hi Mum! You're home' and then runs back to the backyard to do whatever she was doing. About half hour later, she tears herself inside the house as though it hit her that I was home and launches herself in my arms. Normal days, I come home from work.. Charlie will be excited to see me and gives me toy to tell me he is happy to see me. Emmy still launches in my arms.

I put a lead on my puppies usually the second day. They just walk around the house dragging it around (with my supervision). Just so they are use of having a collar and a leash on them. I found out that I can leave an empty cardboard box out for Emmy and that will keep her entertained for hours with her ripping it apart, hiding in it, barking at it, wrestling with it. She loves it. Ice blocks with a treat in it will keep a pup entertained too... unless you're Charlie who will drag it to the sun and then sleeps next to it, till the ice melts and then wakes up and eat it. Emmy will spend hours attacking it, licking, digging it, biting it, barking at it... it's good fun for her. Buy a bubble machine so pup can chase bubbles. Toilet rolls is another hit in our house. Old sock with their lunch in it. I put bikkies in for Charlie and whenever he sees me doing this, he LOVES it. He plays with it and bite it, till he makes a hole and get his bikkies. My 2 aren't interested in Kong and any treat toys...

How Did You Choose Your Breed Or Breed ?
W Sibs replied to jase293's topic in General Dog Discussion
After growing up with a lot of cross breeds and powerful breeds (GSD, APBT x Rotti) and then owning 2 huskies... I just wanted an easy dog Like a really easy dog that is just laid backed, very chilled and a complete sweetheart. Another reason is because my boyfriend has never own a dog before either, so he just wanted to start with something small too. So I looked into getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel or Shih Tzu. Both sounds like fantastic companion dogs and will suit my lifestyle. Then accidently stumbled across Charlie, who is a CKCS x Shih Tzu. He is everything that I wanted and so much more. Someone told me once after I got my huskies that 'Once been Spitz.. always going to be Spitz' That is so true because when I was ready for a second dog, and all I was looking at was Japanese Spitz. I actually wanted a Japanese Spitz before deciding getting a Cavvie or Shih Tzu (and end up with a cross) but I just wanted an easy dog. Although they are small, they are still a spitz. Independent, drivey and is often very busy. I found a girl that was perfect for my family The next dog will be a big breed dog. Just because I miss having a big dog. ETA: I can't imagine my life without a Cavvie now. -
she is too cute for words

I don't do this purposely but Charlie often only eat 5 or 6 days a week depending on how much exercise he gets (he only gets one meal a day too). I don't think it harms them missing a meal or two.

gorgeous photo Yep, Charlie and Emmy wink. Emmy does it more than Charlie though.

He is gorgeous!!

I use to have a toy around and distract her with it, but if she got too much.. I scruffed her. Hold her up (support her back and lower back) but the scruff and hold her up there till she calms down (which usually takes more than 10 seconds) put her down and just walk away. Had to do this 3 time (different occassion) and she never done it again.

When Charlie was a pup, he was sleeping and he barked in his sleep.. shocked himself awake and started barking but looking very confused. When I was laughing at him, he realise that there was nothing there... he went back to sleep.

Training When You Have More Than One Dog
W Sibs replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Charlie and Emmy are pretty good at home when I do one-on-training with them at home. They just hang out and watch each other and don't get involved. As long as Emmy goes first. She can be a pain if she doesn't go first. She rarely whinges but if she gets annoying and interupts Charlie's training, she get sent to her bed and she just lays there whinging as though her world is ending. It goes for a few minutes and she quiets down when she isn't getting attention or getting released though. -
All the questions PF ask and What shampoo do you use? If they are out door dogs, they probably would smell more with them playing in the dirt, roll in dead animals and doing what normal doggies do when they are outside. Especially with their long fur and everything sticking to it or hiding in the coat. I have a Cavvie x and I haven't given him a bath in months and he rarely smells (in fact the only time he does get a bath is when he starts to smell) but he is mostly an indoor dog. He does get brushed everyday too.

Follow your gut feeling. Keep pup away from the aggressive dog.

You have to do an approved training program as posted. I mean, how hard/strict the assessment will be to get one...
