I always end on sitting on the floor too. Charlie is 5kg and Emmy is 7kg and they are small. Both of them take up a 3 seater couch. I often wonder how that happens. I have a new 2 seater lounge coming tomorrow, but I have a feeling that I will still end up on the floor, like always

I will get a trainer/behaviourist to have a look.

I got a CKCS x Shih Tzu. I comb his ears every second day. If I leave it longer, it will get tangled and knotted. I just use the CC comb and Aloveen conditioner.

RIP beautiful girl to you Noisy and your family

Charlie doesn't react to thunderstorm (but he doesn't react to many things). Emmy most of the time is fine. But, if she seems a little tense and is showing anxiety, I usually distract her and give her something to do... like giving her a cardboard box to tear apart, do some trick training, last time.. I just gave her a serviette that she happily shredded. I don't fuss over her though, I remember when she was a puppy, she will just come and sit next to me and lean against me or goes to where Charlie is and buried her face under his body or rest her head on his body for comfort. We just let her be.

Hd On A Pup Who Is Only 16 Weeks Old?
W Sibs replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wonder if xraying at spay/neuter for these and other breeds known for HD issues is becoming a standard practice for some clinics? I'm curious - if the gap at the hip socket does appear to be a bit wider than one would prefer, is it possible that will resolve on its own, as the pup grows to maturity? If it's anything this big... wouldn't a normal vet refer them to a bone specialist to have a look at it before suggesting surgery anyway? I know a lot of bone specialist aren't all keen on operating on a dog till they are properly matured. This what I was told when I got Emmy's patella looked at. -
Charlie - both... although lately, in mornings he gets walked in the stroller and properly walked in the night. he is more energised in the evening and will walk further than 1 or 2 houses before turning around and taking himself home. Emmy - both.

Same - I'm left standing outside! Me too. With the umbrella and everything... But Charlie and Em have access to go outside whenever they want.
-
Charlie can hold it all day... he doesn't like rain and getting wet. I do carry him out every 3 or 4 hours though but I put him down and he walks straight back inside again and into his crate.

Charlie went through a phase where he gives you pure evil looks when you even hold a camera...

He is adorable!

Poor fella Kavik is right about xrays and talk to someone who has experience in HD. But till then, instead of walking.. will you consider letting him go swimming? It's great exercise for the dog but no hard impact on the joints. (If you have a bath tub, fill it in water and let him swim for about 2 min.. make sure that he is using all 4 legs while swimming) Or take him to go to water thread mill place? Also I will put him on a strict diet. It's ok to have him a little underweight. Less weight he has, will be easy for the joints. Also massage the area. I think the relaxed the muscles around the joints are, the less tense the joint will be (this is what a physio told me).

I remember growing up that if my mum gets in her cleaning moods and we have our things laying around, it all goes in the trash. She doesn't care what it. She once threw out my brother's new Game boy because it was laying on the floor.

My OH has been known to "dusta busta" the dog Stupid thing is he just stands there. I think he actually likes it Ava was fine with the vacuum until she got really curious one day and got her schnoz suctioned She is a lot more careful these days... That's what happened to Emmy too... she stays away from the vacuum now.

oh Riley Emmy thinks the same with the mower. I bring the mower out and she quickly runs around the yard getting all her toys and putting it on the laundry and stands in front of the laundry door watching the evil mower so it stays away from her toys. Once I put the mower away... the toys are out again. Emmy has a love/hate relationship with the broom. Their relationship is getting better now though, she realise if she stands on the couch and has clear view of the broom, then it's ok.

Sorry to hear the CW EW. How do you find Charlie is the majority of the time? He has good days and he has bad days. He really doesn't function well in winter. He is less active, more sooky and not as happy. Once in a while, he will have his energy burst and moves around the house fine (for him) but then it will take him a few days to recover from that adventure. But he still moves around (even if it's very slowly) and we still go for our stroll, and he enjoys that. But I do make him walk about 10m (for exercise) before I will pick him up and carry him home or put him in the stroller so we can go around the block. He enjoys that.. he sits in there watching with his goofy grin of his. I'm not at the stage you are at where I have to think about it now, but that "decision" I have to make is always lingering in the back of my mind.

She is adorable Having a Cavvie x (shih tzu) myself... my advice is grooming is you have to brush them weekly. Also the pup will need trimming all the time, especially the butt, ears and feet area but the look of your gorgeous puppy.. probably need some work around the face too. My boy's ears are prone to get knotty and matted if I don't brush it frequently too. My boy gets combed every 2nd day and he gets trimmed every 2nd weekend. ETA: Due to this, Charlie doesn't need to be clipped

Charlie sometimes squeals now if he thinks that something can hurt him... that could just be us walking pass him too closely for his comfort. So I understand about Oscar being timid towards people and how hard that can be.

Yeah, it's understandable. I use to tell Emmy off in a happy tone. she doesn't understand what I'm saying but it sure makes me feel better I have 2 prey driven dogs. They are always going to chase things and hunt for things... it's natural instinct. I don't mind it, and it's always amazing to watch a dog in their drive... but yes, i can stop my dogs from chasing a prey if I need/want. It's just knowing when to get the dogs attention and distracting them with something else and using that drive for something else. K9pro has a program called Training in Drive.

recall. recall. recall. I can't stress enough how important that is. you must teach your pup recall I wouldn't let a dog off leash if they don't have a solid recall. until then, what stonecutter said. long line. She is a puppy... they are suppose to have no attention span, excited about exploring new surrounds and chase everything. She doesn't understand that when you call her, she has to come. She hasnt been taught that. Also, I wouldn't be off chasing your pup.. just because she will think it's a game. Also, will you go to someone who's mad at you? And yelling at you? The best way to get a pup back to you is to be calm, call out in a happy tone and when she comes to you, make it the best thing ever for her when she does. Telling her off for something she doesn't know is kinda unfair, don't you think? It's your fault for letting her off leash when she doesn't have recall.. so you should be telling yourself off :p
