Is Shyla ok? When Charlie first got sick, the boyfriend and I took turn staying home with him for a week. We are lucky that we can work at home though. After the week, Charlie got use to it and was fine. Our neighbours helped a lot, they would come over to check on him a couple of times a day when we were at work. The boyfriend and I also adjusted out working times so that Charlie was never alone more than 5 hours a day though.

Have you tried getting turkey necks?

I dunno.. Charlie is very fond of Shih Tzu or part Shih Tzu. He insist that we always go over to say hello to a Shih Tzu or half shih tzu.. it's very cute, but he can spot them a mile away. We don't know other Cavalier dogs though. He isn't a fan of Labrador or Goldies though (he gets bulldoze by them when he was younger), so he keeps away from them. His best friend is a beagle. And, I think he thinks the old BC next door is his fur mum.

Yeah, after a talk yesterday, the boyfriend and I are gathering all his medicial history and xray and we are going to start asking people for second opinions now. Sash are great but everytime we go in there, we always comes home a little flat and more confused. I actually have a friend who works at Specialist Centre at Strathfield, whom is interested in Charlie's case. Also a few other people have suggested and referring us to a few other specialist too.

Yep. I'm the Crazy Dog Lady too... I took Charlie out walking this morning and we bumped into a lady who's dog did it's business and she didn't pick it up! I walked over to her and hand her a spare poo bag, and told her to pick up her dog's business. She was all flustered and then muttered walking away 'Crazy dog person'.. :D All my friends knows not to bring up the topic of Dogs or Charlie.. or else there is no stopping me! :D

"That happens when a dog is on the lead" WTF? You should report the attack

Thanks guys. I'm feeling a bit down about the whole thing, because I honestly really believe that Charlie was getting better. It might be a very slow process (which i expect and prepared myself for), i didn't expect to think that he wasn't improving. But, I'm watching him playing "Search" with his daddy (it's his favorite game and we discovered a new way we could get him to eat his dry food ) right now with that determine look on his face and that goofy grin he has when he finds his reward. It's hard for me to be down to long, because despite the news I got, I just know that he will get better.

What is he mixed with? I am very sorry to hear of his health problems, really hope it all sorts itself out he is mixed with a shih tzu ;)

:D His condition is very rare... so they don't know how to treat it.

12 Yr Old Golden Retreiver Coughing Up Blood

Oh no RIP Old man -
Sometimes I seriously think the specialist is clueless.. LOL Seriously, they have never seen a case like Charlie before. There is never a confirm test results, so they have been working with what seems right. All the things they are coming up with, they have never dealt or heard of before. So, they are quite unsure on what to do. But, looking online I just found a study that seems to say that vitamin D deficient dogs may have elevated parathyroid hormone levels (which Charlie has) and that the body doesn't respond as well to that hormone, causing low calcium in the blood. and thanks Jed.. he is very cute He is looking more and more cav as he is getting older.

that's what i'm hoping (praying) for poodlefan.

Despite Charlie's high spirit and being back to himself again. He looks great and looks healthy. His inside isn't getting better. His problems bones are actually vanishing They are going to do another test.. something that has NEVER happens in Australia and that's Vitamin D deficiancy. Interesting to see what the test results have to say... every other test is always been inconculsive. Other from that, he has to go back for another xray in 6 weeks... he won't be on other special meds. Only metacam (anti infam meds) when he needs it. I think they want to see how fast his bones is "vanishing" They are all shocked on how great he looks and is acting, because his condition he should be in pain and won't be able to to walk. Must less try to run away from the vet when she tried to pick him up One of the specialist said the reason for that is probably how my boyfriend and I treat him. We treat him like a dog, we keep his mind active, we still take him everywhere and we don't feel bad for him... I thought that was a nice thing to say. one of my fave pics of Charles Wentworth

At this very moment, Charlie is at the animal hospital getting some check up xray done. Should be picking him up about 3pm, and find out if his back is better or not.

Ummm.. I don't think so. If you are a confident owner, and you have established that you're the pack leader, then adding another dog/puppy wouldn't be so hard. If Oscar already listens and follows you, then the other dog will see you as a pack leader and follow his lead in that way. Does that make sense? If you feel totally 100% confident ready for another dog.

:D Yeah, it's cute when they do that.

awww.. what a cutie!!
