Help Please! Problems With Going On A Walk
W Sibs replied to Alison Ma's topic in General Dog Discussion
_________ I try to walk her as often as I can. Lately, she goes for walks on Saturday and Sunday. We take her to the beach on the weekend which normally tires her out for a day or two. Ohh... that's not enough walk for her. Her breed loves to run and be free, so for her staying at home all day everyday.. that will drive her mental. She needs to be walked at least twice a day. About an hour a day, I think. You can split it too 2... like, 1/2 hour before going to work and 1/2 hour after work. That's on top of beach trips on weekends -
Help Please! Problems With Going On A Walk
W Sibs replied to Alison Ma's topic in General Dog Discussion
+1. Ask her to sit to have her lead put on, no lead until she does. Have her sit at the door, no going through the door until she is sitting calmly, sit at the gate if you have one. If she pulls down the driveway, turn around and go home. Sit, calm, try again. Allow some time and lots of patience for this as she needs to process the new rules. Calm behaviour =walk time, silly behaviour=no fun. And take her to obedience classes as people have suggested. She just sounds like an excitable young thing, obedience will help her learn self control, and help you learn handling techniques which will assist you to regain control. +2 Beat me too it! -
does the other dogs wear dog tags? it might have her number on it. will it be dangerous to over to check? But call the ranger Just want to add... poor dog
-
wow, i think that's pretty bad. that puppy will forever be unstable, going to one family to another. what happens when it's no longer a puppy?
-
i can now poor pup though..

If I get a puppy, it will be from a respectable registered breeder (doesn't matter if it's not on DOL). My main thing is it's Health for me. I have to see the parents. Probably get another male dog though. If I get a mature dog.. I will rescue.

When it's a very hot day, we have a bottle of water for charlie... we pour the water in the lid and Charlie drinks it that way. it's kinda take a while, if the lid of the drink bottle is really really small. He will only drink it from the lid Normally, we don't bother. We don't take very long walks anyway.

Obedience Instructors Going Too Far!
W Sibs replied to Miss Squish's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
A person who hits my dog will end up in hospital! Charlie doesn't listen to any of the instructors in my club. He likes them and all but he won't listen to any one of them. I have no idea why, would you guys have an idea why he won't? (he has done this since puppy school and when my friend was practising some dog training on him, he gave her the same look and refuse to do anything, but just watch me) He gives them the 'You're not my mummy' look, and then will remain focus totally on me. He doesn't even listen to them... but none of the instructors yank the leash or yell at him. They simply just laugh, make a comment about being Mama's boy and then return him to me. -

oh man.. I'm so sorry to hear this. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
-
aww.. thanks guys for the support. Yeah, soooo happy i'm not with him anymore You guys are right, she is not my dog anymore. She is no longer my responsibilty. I want to help her, but, obviously I can't. Extra cuddles for Charlie tonight... i won't even torture him by putting the camcord in front of his face tonight
-
Charming Yep... he always reminds me why I left him.
-
Yeah, that's what my dad told me. I'm not worried about it. I have a feeling that he will go to his Nanna for the operation money if he goes through with it. Because, despite him being an idiot.. he does love the dogs.
-
Well problem solved... I don't have to pay anything. I got a "Thanks for nothing" reply. He also told me to have fun snowboarding in NZ while my husky goes blind He so hasn't changed. Thanks everyone for your replies and wasting your time... I freaked out for no reason.

OMGoodness... how cute!!

I guess he has been looking after the bills and stuff. Like I said, I haven't heard or seen this dog in 4-5 years, so this whole thing is news to me that she does have cataracts. But, these are the questions I've asked him... waiting for replies (if I get one!) because my reply email to him wasn't a nice one I told him he was an a$$ for putting me in this situation after not letting me see her in 5 years. The dog is about 8 years old now. 9 in July.
-
I thought about taking her and look after her myself... I, now, know a lot of good vets and specialist! But, I do have to think about Charlie. I have no idea how she is with dogs now. When we got her, she had a lot of fear issues (really bad case) that it took me a long while to get her out of it. She is too dependent on the other husky (who is still alive and kicking) to seperate her from. I have no idea if the ex or his girlfriend continued with the training or anything.
-
I'm kinda in shock about the whole thing. I honestly don't know what will happen if I don't pay. If he is still the guy I knew back then.. he will probably ask his nanna to pay for it.

My ex and I have been broken up for a very long time now. 4 - 5 years (wow time flies) now. We didn't have exactly the best break up (but which break up is). Anyway, when I left, I had to left my female husky back because she couldn't be seperated with his male dog. Hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life, but it was for the best. I wasn't in a good place when we broke up (and, i had to move into a small apartment) When the ex and I broke up, we had an agreement that I could see the dogs (even if that means him taking them out to the park to meet with me)... but a week after I moved out, he moved in his current girlfriend in and told me that it's best if we cut all ties and I can no longer see the dogs. It broke my heart. That actually hurt me a lot more than finding out that he has been cheating on me and moved on so fast (anyway, that's a different story altogether) I get an email from him last night, saying that the female husky needs eye surgury (she has cataracts) and since she was my dog, I should pay for it... not some of it, not half of it.. but for the whole thing (he told me it's going to cost about $2K or more!). I think it cause he isn't working and his current girlfriend is, and they are only living on one income with no savings (although he was bragging that he bought a new motorbike?! and currently saving money to go to Fiji?) I feel weird about it... i know after i pay for the surgury, I still won't be able to get her or see her. his girlfriend doesn't want us to have anything to do with each other, which i guess it fair enough. I think I wouldn't even think about it if I still remain in contact with the husky, but I haven't seen her or heard anything about her for years. what would you guys do? I'm leaning on just paying for the surgury (i'll get her vet to send me the bill and everything) because the thought of her suffering makes me sad..

i hope people will find him soon!
