  1. This is what I'm worried about. Not all dogs play like that. I really need a well balance dog to teach Emmy manners because she can potentially turn into a bully. Charlie lets her get away with it and so does my brother's beagle. The only animal that can keep her in line is Evil Ninja (my dad's black cat). I know someone with Jap Spitzes and yep they can be quite vocal when they play and quite 'sparky' if things go pearshaped in play as well. My little girl play dirtys... if ALWAY must get her own way. That's Emmy with Charlie.. only we don't allow the climbing on the back. She knows if Charlie is laying on the ground... all is fair and war. She will launch on him, bite him, sit on his head. She is always trying to steal something off Charlie, they will have fight over it, and Charlie will win. Then she will be all bitchy about it and bite his ear hard, he squeals in surprise, then steals the pig ear and run off into the bedroom and under the bed... 5 minutes later, she will come out with it and tease Charlie with it. then they start bitey face again.. I think she will be unsure with Erik and Kivi at first, but once she warms up.. she will play with them. She loves to run!
  2. Who could be bothered! You are feeding raw aren't you. The skin is fatty so you might have to watch the dogs weight. I actually skin the chicken wing before giving it to Charlie and Emmy Both Charlie and Emmy were fed raw food even before I got them... and I got them when they were 8 weeks old.
  3. ohhh... I love Erik (although, i'm always going to have a soft spot for Kivi). Sometimes, Emmy reminds me of Erik!! The non stop energy!!!
  4. Abigail... what a cutie!!!!!
  5. Before going to dog park.. Charlie and I usually had a training session before or had a walk, so he isn't too energetic (although he is a very calm dog naturally). He is not allow off leash without sitting and dropping. If he doesn't do it when I ask him, he doesn't get off leash. He also doesn't get off leash if he is still excited... he has to be calm.
  6. I've got one of those too Enya and I often end up nose to nose growling at each other while playing with toys! yep same here nose to nose over the tug That's Charlie and me too
  7. It's still feeling insecure because it's still a baby and not use of it's surroundings. My boy naturally follows me everywhere. Emmy is still a baby, so she likes to know where her mum is at all times. I can't go to toilet or have a shower without having one or two of them in the toilet or bathroom with me. Can't wash the dishes without one or two of them in the kitchen with me. They are my shadows at home... I can give them a pig ear each, and they will carry their pig ear following me around... they will only settle down when I settle down to enjoy their treat. I ignore them both while I'm doing my own thing.. if they want to be in the room with me, that's fine. But, Charlie knows I won't play with him till I'm ready too. Emmy is starting to learn that. But, they have each other to play with each other when I'm busy... in the same room as me, of course. Charlie does not have Separate anixety at all... Emmy, we are still working on her being alone. But, so far, it's going good.
  8. First time giving Emmy a bath was very noisy! She screamed, barked and cried throughout the whole thing. You would think the world is ending on how she was acting! I sat in the bathtub with her and ignored all the noise, just remained calm, I only stopped when she threw her tantrums... then continue doing it after she finished. I knew she was going wear herself out and I was right. She slept through the blow drying her! My advice is just continue what you're doing. Ignore the tantrum and fear in it... they will eventually learn to tolerate it.
  9. That is what the puppy school teacher says about toilet training!
  10. So good to hear my dogs are normal... When Emmy starts she sounds like a cat purring... her bark is so high pitch but very loud and demanding.
  11. Thanks guys My two are very noisy when they are together playing bitey face (they aren't allow to run around together... so it's my boyfriend and my job to do zoomies with Emmy). I know that Emmy still got to learn some manners when she plays, and Charlie is useless on teaching them. He lets her get away with murder.. that's the kind of dog he is I think I would ask the teacher not to let Emmy and her dog off leash together... so the lady can stop being nervous.
  12. Neither do I. It was a lady who's taking her puppy to puppy pre school. I think Emmy was scaring her puppy.. so she made a comment.
  13. When Charlie plays... he likes to growl and make a lot of noise. I think it's very cute... only because he is a very quiet dog. Now, Emmy has started to copy him. Plus it's handy for me, I know where they are playing by the noise they make and when to step in to stop or bring out the camcord to record them.. Problem is when she goes to Puppy Pre School.. she kinda makes some other dogs scared with her play growls/barks. A lady asked me if she was being aggressive and I told her that's how she plays and she told me that I should make her stop because that can cause her trouble with other dogs... is that true? All the other dogs I've had will make noise when they play, so I've never thought twice about it. They were a lot bigger and older, and Charlie has never been a normal puppy/dog.
  14. ohh.. any pics? I always have water out for my pups. Depending on the pup. Emmy gets up around 2am and 5am every morning. But, she sleeps on the bed with me so I know when she wakes up straight away. They usually let you know when they are awake and wants to go out. Charlie, my first pup, only got up once during the night and was able to hold it in by the time he was 10 weeks. He does love his sleep!
  15. I drive a Suzuki Swift. Both dogs have booster chairs. My pups are little so they are comfortable with any car...
  16. My first thought was ears. Charlie does that when his ear is irritable.. I clean his ears out and he is usually fine after that. Does your poodle try to scratch it's ears too?
  17. Buy lots and lots and lots of rugs!! This is what I had to do when I moved into a house with just wooden floors. They also wear non slip grippy dog socks too. Zoomies are strictly for the outside. Their nails has to get cut weekly too.
  18. WOOHOO!!! That's awesome!! Go Jet!! Go You!!!
  19. Yeah... owners must always keep their eyes on their dog. their dog, their responsibility. the boyfriend, charlie and i go to the dog park for a walk and hang out together. but, sometimes we end up playing with other dogs (distract them from playing hard with charlie) because the owner is on the other side of the park chatting on the phone or other people. I am 100% sure that Charlie won't start a fight.
  20. I think dogs read each other energy, and some dogs simply don't like certain energy. Charlie ignore hyperness.. in fact, he doesn't like it. My brother's beagle is super crazy hyper dog, always tense and his tail always stick right up.. Charlie will ignore him. But, if he gets too close, Charlie will let him know that he doesn't like him being near. Gelly (the beagle) will know this and keeps away from Charlie. Charlie will only go close to him when Gelly relaxes. I'm not ignoring Emmy.. but ignoring her behaviour/energy. I don't like jumping dogs, so I'm not going to acknowledge her till she sits down. It's me teaching her that there is no need for her to jump all over me when I walk into the door. She does it in an anxious kind of way.. not it a happy to see you kind of way too. So, if I remain calm going away and coming home, she will realise that she's going to be ok and that I'm always going to come home. I think that's why Charlie doesn't get excited when he sees me coming home, because he knows that I will eventually give him his kisses and cuddles when I'm ready. I keep my 2 apart when I'm at work.. Emmy gets all excited when she sees Charlie, and Charlie ignores her behaviour too. He will invite her to play with him when she settled down.
  21. I don't understand it either.
  22. I have small breed dogs. Honestly, I would be weary if a bouncy dog comes over to greet either one of my dogs, especially Charlie. Awesome that if the dog is friendly, but it's not going to stop them from jumping or bumping them.. it can knock them over and stuff. More than once, I've had to stand in front of the running, bouncy dog to stop the dog from coming into Charlie too fast. It's not till the dog is calm enough that I allow them to say hello. The owners always says that their dog is good with other dogs and won't hurt Charlie... but I don't know that and i'm not going to take a strangers word for it. Most of the time we take Charlie to the dog park to simply walk. He can watch other dogs play and say hello to some, but not necessary play. We just walk, sit and watch. Charlie likes being outside, he likes other dogs and people.
  23. Charlie - nothing. He barks to let eveyone know I'm home. Sometimes he will walk over to say hello, but most of the time, he stays in his bed and wait till I'm ready to greet him. Emmy - crazy! i'm doing the ignoring thing on her at the moment (at least till she stops jumping)... then I tell her to sit, once she sit and not moving anything, then I will go greet her and make a fuss.
  24. ohh.. the little miss has me, the boyfriend and Charlie wrapped around her little paw. She is a real joy to have around, she has made our little and quiet family much happier (and nosier). but, we have started to be more firmer on her.
