Just a little worried that if anything happens, we'll have council at the front door questioning about the dogs.. We'd have to convince them that it wasn't my dogs loose on the street or barking all the time..
-
Last night, I got a note at the fly screen door from a neighbour from the next street over saying that my dogs have escaped the yard and causing havotic in their street (apparently they were watching a dog dart on and off the street and nearly getting hit by a car). But being home all day yesterday, I know for sure that my dogs has never left the house or yard. Charlie, in fact, only left his bed to go outside to do his business and he was back inside again sleeping. Emmy and Skeeter always comes in to check in with me every 1/2 hour or so and when they aren't playing, they are sleeping or getting cuddles or is with me doing training. On Saturday, the dogs were with me all day and night. Only time they were at home was for 20 minutes when I went to the shops to get food and I know they stayed inside because Skeeter flooded my kitchen (again). The neighbour didn't leave their address or phone number for me to get in contact with them. I know it's silly, now I'm a little worried. I've never had a complaint or anything like this happen to me before

Found my vet by word of mouth. I'm lucky that a street behind the vet but when I move, we will still travel to this vet. Great clinic and lovely staff.

First I heard of that.. You would have to ram things down their throat over and over again to make that happen. Easiest it to put tablet down the throat.. it takes a few seconds, and reward with something awesome (if you want). With my 12wks pup, I just wrapped his tablet in some mince and gave it to him, he didn't even know :) Charlie pill down the throat. Emmy thinks all pills are treats, so i just throw it in the air and she catches it.

What a lovely photo! and thanks for the updates :) Happy to hear that she is happy and active :) even though, she is giving you minor heart attacks..

NILIF :) Emmy, my JS, is all about cuddles. She is 2 now and still to this day, whenever she goes outside to go do her business, she still runs inside for cuddles. When we are outside and after she goes to the toilet, she runs and jumps in my arms for cuddles.. she is a funny one that once. Whereas the boys, Charlie (3 years old) and Skeeter (12 weeks old), they aren't fussed about rewards after going to the toilet, so I just don't do anything. I tried to reward them and praised them, and they were like 'whatever' and just continue exploring or whatever. I don't really carry treats around because none of my 3 aren't food motivated, so their reward is usually a "free" to go explore or a massive play session.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Without Health Issues.

I have a CKCS x and he is all sort of wrong. Wouldn't trade him for the world though!! Hasn't deterred me from getting another CKCS (a purebred CKCS) in the future, but I will do a lot of research and study the lines and get one too. But you should be doing that with any breed of dog you get, all breeds have their own issues. -

Is There Any Things Said About Your Breed...
W Sibs replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Japanese Spitz - No, her coat is not hard to look after and yes she is always white (they do not come in any other colour. when someone asked if JS comes in cream, that's a sign to give your JS a bath ) - No, she is not a German Spitz or an over sized white Pomeranian - No, she is not a Samoyed puppy (I have one of those as well and they are NOTHING a like) - No, I don't shave her (she happily drops coat and be naked all by herself) - Yes, they are very easy to train if you are willing to put in the work (like any other breeds) -
That's cute Charlie puts himself to bed about 10pm, and come out about 11.30pm if we are still up to tell us off and go to bed too. Lights out are usually out by 11.30pm, so he doesn't like it if his routine has been ruin/changed.

That photo made me laugh.. very cute :) I'm sorry to hear about Emma, and hugs to you and your family. All I can say is clear the head and listen to what your gut say. Like dyzney said, "thank you for allowing us the privilege to follow yours and Emma's difficult journey" (I'm not brave enough to that yet)

Hi My Samoyed boy (10 weeks) has mastered the doggie door and comes in and out when we are at home. He loves being outside too. When we are at work, he is penned though. Be warned, at 9 weeks, they still have no control of their bladder, so even if you let him have an option of going to toilet, he won't necessary go outside to do his business. As for installing... I have no idea. Mr W did all the doggy door.. sorry I can't help there But, we don't have a flyscreen door at the back door because it's linked to our sunroom, but we always have the sunroom door opened. As for pictures.. you show me your Samoyed and I'll show you mine :p Also join the Samoyed/JS thread

Yeah.. it's one of my pet peeves. If i see anyone not picking up their poo, I do walk over to them and hand them a bag and said 'Oh, you must have run out of poo bag, here you go' and give them a big smile

Hi With redirecting, you have to give the food/toy BEFORE she does it.. once she is doing it already, you got to make her stop by either telling her a Firm NO and gently push her away and walk off as though saying 'Game Over'... and the game is over. I wouldn't play with the pup again for a long while. You have to show that you mean is, you say she is stubborn, so you have to be more. What I do is... I put my thumb in the pup's mouth and under it's tongue and hold it for a few seconds. Most puppies hate it. Then I will hold my hand hand out, and when pup licks my hand and has no interest in biting, I reward the puppy with a lot of praise, treats and play. Do it each time teeth touch skin. They catch on fast that biting is not so much fun. ETA: If you search for puppy mouthing on DOL, there are a lot of thread about it and there are some other great advice on how to stop puppy mouthing :D

I was thinking the same thing But, we don't get birds in our yard. Emmy will try to kill them and has in the past.

Only time the dog barks is when I watch Flyball on the Laptop.. Emmy jumps on my lap and barks with the other dogs. On the tv, none of them really pay attention to it. Unless, someone knocks on the door on the TV and Emmy runs to the door and barks and then looks very confused when we open the door and show her that no one is there... Emmy is a bit special.
