  1. I got mine today... no problems with customs. Can't see why customs would knock it back, i can't see there would be anything that could cause harm to our environment
  2. Thanks for the link. I saw the vet Wednesday and she diagnosed the yeast infection and prescribed the drops for his ears which i am using. I know how hard yeast infections are to treat and can be very resistant so my thoughts were the Angel Eyes might be helpful but after a bit more research maybe not. I will continue on his current drops and hope for the best. I have added ACV to his water and food and also some Inner Health Plus. Tylosin does treat quite a few things, ear infections being one of them as well as respiratory infections in pigs. Commonly it has been used for the treatment of bacterial overgrowth in the gut of dogs and colitis. I spoke with my vet about it and told her i was using on one of my other dogs and she did say it is about the only thing that works well for tear staining but she has really only used it for the bowel issues. I really only thought of it as an after though once i had left the surgery. We did discuss allergies but she felt it was not the case for my boy as his skin is very good other than the tear staining but he is a bulldog and the tearing sits in the creases and it can get smelly. Incidently about 2 weeks of Angel Eyes and it is all dried up and looks fantastic. The Angel Eyes websit did mention the words infection and yeast causing the red staining so that is how my thoughts began.
  3. My dog has his first yeast ear infection at age 2½ (only one ear). He doesn't have any skin problems other than tear staining. I was wondering if Angel eyes would help this as a complementary treatment seeing as though Angel Eyes is meant to treat yeast type over growth within the body. Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Thought it might be worth adding to his treatment (Dermotic ear drops)....
  4. Don't mind the rain but am terrified if it is lightening.. wasn't happy on the weekend when they continued in the lightening..
  5. Oakway, which website did you purchase it on. i looked at a few and they said they don't ship internationally. I will be interested to see if it makes if through customs too. Nothing beats a bone but very difficult in my place as they cause big fights.
  6. My 6 pack of Advocate Red colour is $9 cheaper on Aussiepet.com.au. I have always found them cheaper than any other site but always willing to compare prices and in fact they will match any price you find
  7. From memory the cost is about $49-00 for an 18 kg bag. Very reasonably priced, but it does concern me about the problems that Diamond food company had.
  8. Has anyone tried Costco range of food called Kirkland?
  9. Thanks Sway. Thats great. I searched for it as i new i had seen pictures on here before but couldn't find it. I will set my husband a task to make one.
  10. Hi Does anyone have any photos of a rack that i can attack to the towball of my car to hold my trolley on with. My husband is very handy and i am sure he can make one or otherwise where i can purchase something like this.
  11. Yes i think that is the same. It comes in a tiny silver pressurized can. I find it usually does the trick. Also another cheaper version to try is Hair spray but the lacquer variety it coats better. Give it a try and maybe take some hair spray as well.
  12. There is an Elastoplast spray on bandage you can get from the chemist. We used it on our dogs with sore pads after a week of rain. Worth a try it is quick and easy doesn't seem to sting. Fixes foot sore dogs with cracks in their pads just a quick spray before going in the ring.
  13. Yep agree this is a good canopy. Much better than the compact. It is slightly bigger when folded up but the benefit of the stronger frame and heavy duty canopy out weight this negative. If fits nicely behind the front seats of my ford falcon.
  14. I am just doing the exam now and although some is very very easy there are some really stupid questions with two possible answers. The exam papers say there is a possibility of 2 correct answers.... what a stupid way to write an exam in my opinion. I am doing the NSW exam which has just recently been re-written. The questions on council regulations are very stupid and the paper they sent with it was not very enlightening. I just downloaded the DPI info and the Companion Dog Act.
  15. Have a look at Blocky dogs in the US, they make great collars, if you order one get the thinner one cause bulldogs don't have long necks. I use check chains on mine bulldogs as well as the limited checks.
  16. The prefix i like looks like it is still active, but it is more my second choice i am hoping for. Nonetheless, i have heard of people who have submitted 10 names and still not got approval for any of them....i will just have to wait and see what comes back...
  17. Yes that is true, i was just wondering if they search that far so as there are not double ups. I was thinking there are a lot of databases to check if that is the case. I have found one i like but it is a NZ prefix so i scrapped that idea so hopefully my second or third choice will be okay. Really just curious as to how the process actually works
  18. I am just applying for a prefix and was wondering when they approve the prefix is it only checked for Australian prefixes or is it a worldwide search . I notice the prefix search on dogzonline is for Australia and New Zealand.
  19. I had a foxie that had a 5/6 heart murmur and she required huge doses of medications but she managed to live until she was 18. The medications are very expensive and i was paying out over $200 a month for Vetmedin and diuretics but she couldn't survive without them. I am not sure what i would do in your situation but i feel that if the breeder is ethical she should consider helping out with the vet bills to obtain an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment for the puppy. If you don't get any joy speak with Dogs Vic or which ever state you purchased the puppy from for some advice. I feel that the breeder is probably using the PTS as an emotional point. If you paid $3500 you should at least obtain half of the money back towards vet bills. Try some negotiation. I am sure the breeder wouldn't want their state controlling body to have to become involved and be dragged before an Ethics committee.
  20. Royal canin 4800 is another good one. My friend uses it for her boxer and within a week you can see a difference. It is 30% fat.
  21. I am looking for Royal Canin starter....Have been told it is out of stock...i have bought 2 x 2kg bags at a very expensive price and can't find any more...
  22. I just enjoy it if my dogs show well, the weather is good and i have a great day out with my doggies, and yes i totally agree points are a bonus albiet 6 points or 25 points.
  23. Thanks for that guys. I really am interested in something that talks about what different scissors are used for, grooming techniques, ie plucking or rolling coats. Also clipper blades and what uses they have. I borrowed a couple of books and they talk about such things in grooming like, for a daschund, clean ears, clip nails etc not really want i am after more things on techniques people use. I ordered one book online. I find it all very interesting, I have always shown horses and love prepping them so thought i should get myself a little educated on how to prepare different dog coats. No wanting to be a groomer or anything (i am just a boring secretary),just intrigued about the different techniques and enjoying asking people what they do to achieve the finished product. I questioned a poor schnauzer exhibitor last week but thankfully she was very informative and didn't mind answering all my questions.
  24. Thank you for that, I will have a look at that one online
  25. Hi, i have just started showing dogs and am interested in buying an all round grooming book. I have a short coated dog so not much grooming required for them.I would like something that talks about clipping, the difference in blade sizes etc, stripping coats. I am not a groomer but just walk around the shows amazed at all the grooming that goes into different breeds and so out of my own curiosity i would like to get a book that explains different techniques. One day i aspire to have a standard poodle....setting my sights high i know. So i would be pleased if anyone has any ideas on a good book to purchase, I looked on Clipper World website and there are quite a few but unsure where to start. Thank you in advance.
