More pictures. April is rather flexible...
  8. I have tried that. A BC breeder recommended that to me. She ate it the first few times, but has since given up. She is very fussy and I know she just adores the canned food (even if she only gets a little bit) and the milk, and god does she love going feral in the backyard with her raw meat. LOL. I am getting a rescue dog within the week, so hopefully he might help her out with the eating issue. Apparently he is a guts. So if all works out, the canned food and milk can easily be knocked out by this rescue boy. I'm going to go to bed- have an operation tomorrow morning. But will check back tomorrow! Thanks for all your help!
  9. Thanks guys!! The canned food & milk will only be a tablespoon of the stuff at a time. My girl won't touch the dry food otherwise. She is painful.
  10. Hi everyone, I am wanting to change my bitches diet to more raw meats. She will be getting a cup or two of dry food in the mornings, mixed in with some eggs, milk or a bit of canned food. I know most of you don't agree with canned food, but it will just be for the taste. I am looking into giving her 2 chicken wings, handful of beef mince, cup of veges and a heart or something along those lines for dinner time. Would you say this is suitable considering she will be getting dry food also? And do you think it will be enough for a year old English Point? She gets bones twice a week and horse hooves twice a week. Both of which she just lovesss! Any suggestions or comments would help me a lot! Thanks!!
  11. I like Advance. And my dogs do well on it. Great weight, healthy, coats look amazing. And they have all the energy in the word- never a dull moment here. They will be moved onto mostly raw meats and advance dry over the next week though. I've had no problem with Advance, and have been told nothing about these cancer causing compounds from other breeders. My vet has recommended Advance to me also, and she feeds it to her dogs. I personally see no problem with it and am VERY happy to be using it.

Exactly like that!! Funny dogs. Although, she would slowly stop, and her back leg would kick her in the face, so she would start again! Crazy animal.

Adding to the Pointer thread here. Aril is great with any type of person! She has had a little children (about 5 years old) walk up to her and hug her neck on a train. She just stood there wagging her tail. She did well, considering how nervous she is on a train.. She hides under the seats. My pa has advanced parkinsons, and she will walk up to him, sit down and get all the pats she wants. She will sit and drop when he tells her, and she shakes hands with him. She is wonderful and gentle with him, then she gets into the their paddock yard and runs around like an idiot. Sweet yeah?

Thanks Raz and Sharonpuggywuggy. Glad to know how they go with sheep and horses. As we horse ride, and round up the sheep on our horses. My horse is very quiet. I had my pointer come on a trail ride the other day. Normally she runs off and points at EVERYTHING that moves, but this time she thought it would be a wonderful idea to... Yes, she does think shes a BC... To roundf up the horses!! It was rather funny. Both horses just kept walking, trotting and cantering. My pointer kept barking at the horses legs, and running in circles, and jumping at their faces. LOL. She had a blast though! But yes, my gelding is quiet and isn't bothered by dogs and barking.

Thanks guys! And by good lap dogs I mean will be around you and whatnot, not so much like my kitten, who is asleep on my lap right now purring. They sound great! And its nice to know they get along with Pointers! Always a plus.

Thanks Huga! Are they good little lap dogs? Or are they more independant than, say, I cavy for instance? Are they good little family dogs? Always have loved the faces on them! Should get one for my OH. I think he would kill me considering I want to get my seconand Pointer too!

Just wondering, and sorry if this question has been asked already, but is there certain care that needs to be taken into account when washing these little cuties because of the loose skin which forms rolls on their bakcs/necks, and around their face? It has always been a question I have been meaning to ask an owner, and this seems to be the perfect time. Also, how do they go around farm animals, like sheep and horses?

April does the same. Today, she jumped out the back of a horse float (long story short, I was trying to protect her while I caught a run away foal), well, she decided she had to jump out the back (while the tail gate was up and locked) and she had to help her mum round up this foal... Too bad she didn't realsed that she was not helping at all. She was also great today when we went on a trail ride. Followed the horses, stayed away from the roads, POINTED at everything that moved, tried to climb a tree, and of course, came back when called. She seem to enjoy the mud to roll in, and the time she spend rounding up the horses. She still amazes me.
  22. Hi.. I used Bonnie and my girl got a bad coat, and started becoming very itchy. She just chewed at her coat until there were patches missing... She's on Spuercoat and Pal (swap the foods over everytime I need to buy new food) and she looks great! She has so much life in her, her coat is beautiful, white and soft, etc.

April is the same. I was taking her on the train about a month ago, and a little girl (she was about 5) ran up and hugged April. It was great. April didn't get excited and jump around. Instead she waged her tail and licked the poor girl. They are very sweet dogs. I'm sure any owner/breeder would agree!
