  1. I would have said Nutrience over all of them but in Sydney they have been knocked out of Petbarn and replaced by Eagle Pack - who have delivered once and now have no supply!! Nutrience seem to have spat the dummy and are not deliverying to any of the smaller suppliers because they are not trucking into the bigger ones!! So overnight can't get it at all - except from their own store where they price to the max!! Nothing like no competition. So no Nutrience to be found - Eagle Pack seemed like an alternative but I haven't be able to try it because there is none in stock (their loyalty program sux comparatively too...) and so I have been feeding Royal Canin. Dogs like it but eat 2 x as much and the bags are smaller and cost more. Grrrr. The Diet formula is much higher in everything than the Nutrience and the dieting dog is hungry all the time. (Nutrience is the only diet food I have found where they are not starving). So frankly I am at my wits end. My other RC issue is that the cats like the dog formula waaay to much....they are not so fussed about the cat ones..
  2. horses for courses I think - I don't do it - my ACD is too enthused about agility to care about tugging - if he was any more reved up he'd be psycho and my hounds are way too well mannered to do anything so uncouth as tug!! Maybe you need to find something else for your chap - the more embarrasing the better probably. I used to have a hound who got exited when I sang! Damn him. Try that at a trial
  3. 1+ re Sydney Animal Hospital - emergencies only due to their long hours and move to a more caring less mercenary environment ASAP!! Note that Northumberland Ave at Stanmore and the Matraville practice all belong to the same vet and the same criteria would apply. I often use Sydney Uni for simple things and as I have a minor breed I feel it is my duty to inflict them on the baby vets from time to time!! Yes there are dogs bigger than a breadbox in the inner city!! I like the double handling they get there - helpful when the dogs are younger. But the good vet who hasn't been mentioned is Livingstone Road, Petersham. Dr Janet Cridland. Can't beat them. Meea
  4. DCH have a specific Collie rescuer/carer ?Judy I think and I know she does a fine line in the geriatric/disabled/less than fighting fit...her home is full of failed resues!! There is an older gent on their site now. http://www.dchanimaladoptions.com/ Meea
  5. I have deerhounds/borzoi and they all chatter when happiest/relieved.
  6. also comes in 7.5mg (see previous post re dosing) tab and caps. That dose is correct so if OP can get a script for her (sore back/wrists/joints...) its all good.
  7. the human version does not come in liquid only tablet and capsule, but as with all drugs the binding compounds are soluble. FYI many drugs used to be dealt in bulk in hospitals then disolved and measured out. Old skool but effective. Necessary for the littlies as no humans equivilents come so teensy.
  8. all my allergies and sensitive souls have done very well on Nutrience (the whole range is wheat free)for about 7 years but suddenly (Sydney) it has become very difficult to get and I need to make a change. Eagle Pack has become more readily available so very interested in the comments. Unfortunately no artemis around up here that I can find. Have emailed via that link. Fingers crossed.
  9. my sighthounds adore them - my working dogs just look offended... frozen in kong is an excellent plan for next summer!
  10. Both of my dogs (deerhound and cattle) have had Tramal with no problems. ME however - I took it once and have never been so sick - I would have bitten you myself!! I was very hesitant to let the dogs have it based on my own experience but have since used it several times for them without any problem.
  11. It is Mobic. My cattle dog has been on long term for his arthritis (and so have I - conveniently - cough cough). I will check the body weight dose and post later. FYI he sits around 30kg and gets 1/2 a 7.5 tablet (the smallest available). From memory this is fractionally high but easy. For smaller dogs you can disolve the 7.5mg capsules with sterile water and syringe the dose. Of course before I get hammered - this is approved by my vet who supplied the dosage and taught me how to measure it out.
  12. I have actually seen Victoria work. (snooping through the fence) and she is the real deal. Not only did she have the dog in seconds (cos she really is the alpha witch!!) but she didn't hold back from (can I say in this oh so polite forum) from ripping the incompetent problem human a humongous new one!! Feedback from my friends say the dog owner turned over a new leaf and all problems solved. I suspect he was too scared NOT to do exactly as she said. Go girl. She is toned down for the camera. so if I Really Had To and there was a Real Gun....
  13. I have had success with the sonic one with small high pitched barkers (doesn't seem as effected on the deep woof woof). I have a neighbour with several scruffers which shriek and as she is as deaf as she does nothing about it. I put one of the sonic units on the front window sill (between the window and security grill) she hasn't seen it but her dogs hardly make any noise around the front of the houses. Might be an option for you as you can turn it off when you are home if you wish and your dog doesn't have to wear it. There is a collar version which is cheaper but I think they need to be a firm fitting to be effective and this might not be the best for an all day wear. I have large dogs and use citronella collars when I first get them. Usually only takes a few goes to sort things out but I have seen other committed barkers use an entire container and not draw breath! The units would be too heavy for yr littlie. Meea
  14. Heavens - they all need what they need. The old one, the baby, the porky one and the model - different nutritional needs for all. My last deerhound scoured for 12 months until I put found Nutrience puppy and then fine. 12 months of scooping toxic waste into a baggie - uurg. He never came off the puppy food even as an oldie - even adult nutrience upset him. You have to exclude infection etc and then look about until you sort out what your little one needs. dog exclusion diets are much the same as for people - minimal bland until the tummy is ok then limited adding of extra food.
