  1. still so inconsistant - the March Gazzette (NSW) had 1/2 doz shows around Sydney with 18s and the April Gazzette has 1. *sigh* edited: for more z's
  2. It's Hannah, we met at erskine park before chrissy, my deerhounds live with my folks but we talked about doing some walks in sydney park some time. hope that helps Oh I had been wondering where you were. Wanna come to a show?? txt me sometime.
  3. I live in Chippo too and take mine to Livingstone Rd Animal Hospital in Petersham because the Syd Animal Hospital in Erko, Stanmore and Matraville all belong to the same monopoly and are pretty underwhelming. I use the Uni vet for emergencies esp now they have 24 hr emergency if I can't get to ARC or Sash but all the regular vetting goes to Janet Cridland at LRAH just because she is the best. My neighbour uses the Glebe Rd vet and likes them. I have also heard good things about the Balmain Vet on Booth st. best of luck ps: which deerhound are you? edited for spellunk
  4. It is still a bit difficult to get but have seen the new packaging (Holistic Select) around a lot in NSW recently. Not bothering to buy it again myself. Really happy with Canidae.
  5. <Dog shows have always been for entire dogs -> Gee and when was a safe desexing operation for dogs invented.... ;) Lets move a little with the times. I agree totally with you about the environment and costs etc contributing but add that to the fact that a one dog person with a good dog is forced to have to deal with an undesexed one just to be able to show - that must be a factor as well. It certainly is for me and I have been showing (one dog at a time) for years
  6. <Well I for one consider dog showing is to showcase "breeding" dogs. > Not wanting to go all OT on an interesting topic....If conformation showing is ONLY for Breeding dogs that could just explain the huge drop in numbers in the show ring. One of the reasons for bringing in Neut class is to support people to show when they do not want to breed. I am not a breeder - I am a puppy buyer. I want to show my dogs but I live in the inner city and (shock horror) use off lead parks Undexed dogs are just too much bother in my environment. But I love a dog show. Currently I manage to keep them entire until the title and then it is quick smart off to the vet and it as been the end of their careers. At least now we can continue to show. The vasectomy idea is a new one on me! edited for: spellunk
  7. Did you go on Sat??? I couldn't bring myself to put the dogs in the car - but turns out there were points to be had!! Never mind not point having a 6pter and a heat stroke!!
  8. I received an automatically issued new chq book in the post this morning from which bank!? So it would apparently be news to them! )
  9. Does anyone know when they start back - telephone has been engaged all month!! seriously
  10. I go to the one at Castle hill Wednesday nights and it is great.... Trainer is very good with the dogs and very helpful!! But hopefully you can find one closer to you What is the name of the trainer and do you have contact details. There aren't many closer that do conformation training. Thanks for your help. There is a Tues class at C/hill as well.
  11. This whole string is beyond me - the OP SAW a dog and it had a MUZZLE (!) - whip me with a feather - nothing happened
  12. So do share!! I would take them with me everytime, but can't find anything suitable for 1 + 3 biggies. Peace and quiet is what we need.. The best I have found are a days travel away to that cuts it down. I need somewhere for shorter stays that don't mean I spend two days travelling. Meea
  13. Highly recommend Scots Hut (on stayz) Unfortunately Bega area is 8 hr drive from Sydney but perfect for what you are asking. If anyone hears of anything in w/end distance I would love to know as well
  14. I think this is the worst fly season I can remember and I have been in this house with 3 dogs for nearly 20 years. I guess the wet/hot/wet combination is the trouble. I do nearly everything that everyone else has posted and it is still awful. Evil swarming buzzing beasts. Someone posted something in another thread awhile ago about a spray that knocked them on the head but I haven't been able to find it again. The outside RAID works really well but costs a fortune - $15 for 10 hours per refill. so I do have them - just use them sparingly. The inside ones last much longer and I have them on most of the time.
  15. Ha!! I have seen the ute buddy bluey around Redfern and it is tied with a bit of rope and hanging off the back of the tray and the first time I saw it I was Sooo indignant and was going to give the driver a piece of my mind. Not keeping Your Dog Safe You Mongrel!! thats how lifelike that is.
  16. do share - sprayed with WHAT exactly???
  17. I can't remember their name but there is an excellent groomer just beside the Annandale Vet in Booth Street. Good vet too!
  18. They probably have muzzles too but I really need to fit to size for this guy which is why I need a shop. I had hoped to avoid a trip to the suburbs but here we go!!!
  19. and what they are stocking is cheap nasty tat!!
  20. Hmnmnm a couple of years ago all the inner west stores had grey stuff - now it is really bare!! bear?
  21. bit of a packed lunch and an overnight bag trip for me but good to know!!
  22. Really!! that is my local but I haven't seen any such thing there - was that recently dogmad??? *hopeful* maybe my whinging to them has had an effect. I will have another go.
