My DOOG is metal as well. The new improved Cesear Milan version is larger (yay! more treats)! and has clips on both sides. I will up grade to that as soon as I see it in stores. He seems to have several dogs clipped to both sides during his runs so they must hold up (mind you his hounds are too well mannered to pull :D )

OK so in THEORY I wouldn't do it - though I know many who have. In my case it seems to be a country thing. But seriously how often have I called the new dog by the dead dogs name - usually in a panic. It might make sense to just keep the name the same as I can't see my new dog recalling in a state of excitment when I can't be trusted to use remember its proper name...

I didn't see ANY at Erskine Park this week end so clearly you need me flaunting one around the hound ring!!

Is there some rule about not wearing branding in the ring - meaning one (I) would have to change for showing? and then of course change back to fulfil contractual obligation>?

I have no dog predjudice but gee I have some pretty solid dog owner predjudices ;)

I am in inner Sydney and we have several. Also two very big and therefore not fenced ones. Love them and use them regularly. Unfortunately also lots of unfenced ones on main highways - tks council!

One flew into the hound ring at Castle Hills a few weeks ago. I was left wondering about what would happen if a dog/person was struck. Psychological damage perhaps to both as well?

I have to go with the member of the ruling body. e.g. I take my muttleys (OT and AT) to Ch shows otherwise they would be home alone. They are both reg with Dogs NSW and therefore traceable and subject to the standards. Folks roaming around with something leaping at the end of a harness is a different story IMHO. I think showies need to be comfortable that the dogs around them are handled and vacinated etc to a standard.

If your dog has a sniff and isn't too keen, either try again not quite so chilled, or shake just a little bit of garlic salt on it. Fresh fish tends to have no smell and so sometimes they aren't that keen on first sniff if fed something new like that. Good tip - I had had no luck with fish heads and after the mess they made I didn't try again but as they eat smaller whole fish this might be just what they need.

there are only two companies (both of which you would need to look up but one is the MDBA consistant winner) who are NOT underwritten by Holland and it seems actually processed in the same place. (this from my vet who says all the direct emails have the same ending!!) I have been with RSPCA for a few years as initially I could not tell the difference but am looking to change over this year to the MDBA winner. must get my b. into g. and look up their name!

I was at the Hound Show at Castle Hill the week prior & there were only 179 entries....not sure where 500 came from???? seems very odd - there were 500 179 entries at NSW the week end(ish) before - lots of no shows though. I never go north over the bridge these days (maybe I should :D )- anyone shed any light?

I battle with this all the time. I wash human stuff first then wash dog stuff then wipe out and rinse front loader. I do find that a long soak does really lift a lot of the hair and helps a lot. - will try the vinegar trick. Currently am final rinsing with eucalyptus wash.

I use the elect fence pole. Very light and easy and flexible. I have always just foot measured them but more recently bought a heavy tape with holes in it from clean run. Best thing ever.

+1 this is the version I had heard from dog folk I know who lived in a few streets over. Could be more a DOCs issue than a Dog Ranger one.

There is one that works on a collar tag and only opens for the critter wearing the proper id. Imagine how cross kitty would be!
