  1. I'm just wondering what are the main differences between something like Sashas Blend, Seaflex, and Joint Guard? Any one had personal experiences that they would like to share? My vet is now stocking the Sahshas Blend. Thanks
  2. Its nearly spring and everyone is thinking about mulching their garden. 1. Which mulches are best if you have dogs?? 2. I've heard that cocoa mulch is poisonous, are their any others that are bad? And Coir peat mulch (the bricks you soak in water), is that made from the cocoa plant, so is that bad too? I normally use the sugar cane type. Thanks
  3. Oh another thing you could try, but remember this will add more protein sources into the mix is this: http://www.wellbeingfordogs.com.au/ My other dog a couple of years ago developed a really dry coat and dandruff too. She wasn't th itchy one. Tried many things. I think the two things that really helped her was Malaseb shampoo (used as instructed for about three shampoos, only once a week), and the "Well being for Dogs". I give both my dogs, the other itchy one too, "Well being for Dogs" every day. her coat too is so much nicer and blacker as it should be. I also don't bath them very often now. Many people think we over bath dogs, so i cut it down to once a month or even longer. Hope this helps.
  4. One of mine had itching skin for a while. Tried many things, but found the EP Fish formula really good for him. I even used it as the treats or tinned fish to keep with the same protein source. I think there are possibly many allergens and its just (in my tiny bit of experience) keeping the contact (food or otherwise) down below a certain threshold. Below the threshold, the symptoms are controlled. Now that its better his diet is a bit more varied.
  5. Good news! The path results are back and its not the bad one. so all happy.
  6. Thanks. He is better again today. Actually excited to wake up. Healing is going well. Yes the lump is going to histopathology.
  7. Thanks. He seems OK today, just a little quiter. Eating, and pooing and weeing, and sleeping, so all bodily functions seem ok. It's always a worry I guess.
  8. Sam my 8yr old shih tzu cross something had a lump about the size of half a pea removed today and a dental at the same time. I get to pick him up in about an hour. The lump was on the side of his face near the eye, so to stop him scratching he will have to wear an Elizabethan collar. From your experience what should i look out for? Can I expect him to be a bit down tonite? A normal meal or half a meal tonite? Would you have him watched continuously for the next day? Are the Elizabethan collars safe? (my other one wore one with no problems day and night and treated it like an extension of her body, but i'm not sure how sam will go). Appreciate any advice pls (I'm a nervous Nelly if you haven't guessed.). ;)
  9. Is she usually outside or inside when you are out? If outside, I wonder if another dog or cat or person, gave her a fright today. If inside, I guess that isn't a possibility. What about anal glands?

  11. I've used it for a number of years and use it for about 40% of their diet. I've use the fish one and the lamb one. I think its good.
  12. Does any one use doggie toothpaste? Can u tell me if reduces tartar (calculus) and stains? I see some on the market, but I don't see why they add tea tree oil. We don't have it in ours.
  13. Mine were inside with the Elizabethan collar. Just confined to the one big room. She learnt to just push harder to get out of a snaggy situation. She was so used to it she went about her life with it as normal, even running up stairs, sleeping, drinking etc. Just check she can drink OK with it on.
  14. I had one of mine with an elizabethan collar a number of times. But she was very good with it and just went about her business as if it was part of her. She could drink OK and didn't get stuck on anything. The other one doesn't like it, and I wouldn't trust him. Does he/she tolerate it well? Maybe give it a try for an hour or so first see.
  15. Oh I didn't read it was a product of Thailand or China. I personally am concerned then. I'll have to look a bit more closely next time.
  16. I saw these cans of dog food at woolies called "Fish for Dogs". Has any one tried it?
  17. I'd see a vet, as it sounds like you have to clear the ear infection and you might need some specific ear drops that have to put in twice a day for two weeks as fungal infections are hard to clear. Try to discount any contact allergies from plants etc. I'd also use Malaseb shampoo, but be sure to leave it on for the full 10 minutes. I'd then also add some omega 3 & 6 supplements in the diet. I found this: www.wellbeingfordogs.com.au/ ."Essential ingredients" really good, but it takes a little while before you see the results. One of mine just slowly developed more & more itching and then dandruff, but with the Malaseb and the Essential Ingredient is doing really well. I don't use the Malaseb now that it has all cleared up, but I use the Essential Ingredient all the time.
  18. Well if it gives you a dry throat, it could also irritate the doggies. I guess they are just chemicals filling the atmosphere at home.
  19. Do u have photo of them together? Love to see it.
  20. Yes the ones u put inside your house. I'm probably "too" concerned.
