  1. i'm infected too. i have a strain that makes me buy dog toys at every opportunity. Soft toys, sweaky toys, bright coloured toys, it doesn't matter.
  2. oh i forgot, i give them some tinned salmon too (guessing that this is rich in omega 3 & 6s. Eaglepack fish formula would be higher in omerga 3 & 6 compared with other kibble foods anyways.
  3. I have one with an itch and paw licking. this is what we went throughin the last 12 months. 1. cortisone injection & antibiotics & special shampoo (with chlorhexidine in it, can't rememebr the name of it) - no imnprovement. 2. cortisone tablets low dose for abit. 3. science z/d diet - some improvement. 4. then a blood allergy test - allergies caome up as dust mites, dust, pine, a few other things. 5. advised to start a flea allergy trial (i have used frontline since i had him) and thus added permoxin as per instructions - resulted in about a 30% improvement. 6. so now i am really fussy about flea prevention, and dust around the house, & switched to eaglepack fish formula as the main food source - and now i have not used cortisone for over six months. this is the best he has been. He is still an itchier dog than the other, but it's very liveable now. hope this helps
  4. I have just tried advantix for the first time this week. I find that the hair around the application site has that oily look for longer than when i used frontline. with frontline the oily look lasted about a day, but with advantix it only became obvious on the second day & is still there on the third day. Anybody else notice this?
  5. mine eat anything, but i give them some of the follwing: beans, brocoli, zuchini, & carrots. Haven't tried fruit mcuh. what do u suggest?
  6. hey newcastle people, where can u get advantix in newcastle? i know you can buy it online, but i'm old fashioned.
  7. try this place for eagle pack: http://www.petdeli.com.au
  8. I am an eagle pack fan too. ( have tried advance trukey & rice, science diet for sensitive skin & others) & honetsly have found better results for mine on eagle pack. In NSW its hard to come by though.
  9. go here for info on greenies: http://www.greenies.com/
  10. Both of mine wee & poo on walks. I walk them twice a day. I think they prefer to poo on their walks & not at home, but will do so in the backayrd of they really really have to.
  11. thanks for the hints, but does plucking ear hair actually hurt? how many plucks do you make per ear?
  12. yes greenies are expensive. I have little dogs who get the petite size and I only give them a half at a time maybe twice a week only. otherwise its way too expensive.
  13. my vet advised me to use Leo ear cleaner for my shih tzu Xs. He also said to pluck the hairs out, which they HATE me doing. is there a simple method for this. Is it really necessary?
  14. I've tried a few of the chewing things including pigs ears, rawhide sticks, dentasticks, dentabones, greenies, nylabone (various flavours). So far i have found the greenies as the best so far (esp with then dog with allergies). The dental sticks and dentabones have listed ingredients as animal derivatives which could be anything. what do you find works?
  15. oh my gosh. did she die from an allergic reaction to frontline?
  16. i've just been here: http://frontline.uk.merial.com/faq/dogs/faq.asp & it seems that I can still find fleas but they will dies wihtin 24 hours. This site tends to think I can bath a dog two weekly & it should not affect the frontline.
  17. I bath them about every two weeks. Avoleen or fido's oatmeal shampoo. I don't think these strip the coat of oils. I thought you could bath them without stripping the frontline off. is this right?
  18. I have two dogs one with a flea allergy. I'm using frontline on them both sometimes ever two weeks, other times I stretch it out to a month. It is now two and I found a flea on him scurrying away. I still find a flea or two on him maybe once every two weeks. If you use fronnltine, do u still find fleas? Do you then use it every two weeks?
  19. i'm a eagle pack fan. go to their site on: www.eaglepack.com.au for a supplier.
  20. go here for eaglepack http://www.eaglepack.com.au i find it great for my dog with allergies. i use the salmon, sardine & anchovy one.
  21. I have one with suspected allergies. Tired Advance turkey & rice, Eukanuba lamb, Science diet for sensitive skin, & prescription diet z/d. Now he is one eagle pack salmon, sardine & anchovy. The best result by far is on the eagle pack. i now only give a tiny amount of cortisone maybe only once a month, not once a week like before. so eagle pack gets my vote.
  22. one of mine had it in the first few weeks that I had him. He has a few allergies and now I feed him a different brand and his poos are fine now.
  23. My two dogs are on "Eagle Pack" dry food & the variety is samon, sardine & anchovy. The only concern I would have is the salt content of smoked salmon, but in small amounts it should be fine i think. Once i put some cured salmon (nice big chuncks) on crakers on the coffee table for myself of course & I got distracted for about 30 seconds & they were gone!
  24. I use frontline regularly on both of my dogs, and sometimes use permoxin also on one of my dogs that has a flea allergy. I found the permoxin pretty good. I was wondering how effective are surface sprays such as baygon for around the house & how safe is it when my littlemdogs spend most of their time indoors? thanks
