  1. I used to walk my golden on the tredmill. then my mum got angry at me What I did was put his food bowl on just in front of the tredmill mat. He's really food obsessed so if followed the food :p Your dog might be too smart though, just go around to get the food i'm not actually sure if its safe for a dog to walk on a tredmill, unless your talking bout a dog version. Might want to find that out first ;)
  2. I say 'working' lol. Or 'lets go!'. Then when we're done I say 'free' and its playtime lol.
  3. Thank god Bailey hasn't tried rabbit. If he had he'd probably be eating my pet bunnies Edward and Jasper right at this minute However he does love eating rabbit food... strange dog... but sorry I have no idea if feeding full rabbit is good or not.
  4. I think this might be a dumb question but I ask many of them so here we go Are mock agility trials run in SA at all? I know we have mock obedience trials, but have never seen an agility one. Thanks
  5. haha I love this thread!! I think you should be allowed to talk to your dog up until at least novice! and yep get rid of stays!! If there was no stays we'd have our CCD title now ! or like someone said in the dropping in sit stays thread, as long as the dog stays it dosn't matter wat position its in :p
  6. Yeah I do they same. If she drops in a sit stay I pull her out and do one by herself. And of course she sits perfectly the whole time then!
  7. don't think so. don't see why she should be. might be the case though.
  8. Just a question for all you obedience people out there So far, I have done 4 CCD trials with my BC Jess. We have only passed one. And two fails was because she lied down half way through the sit stays Today's trial she got great scores in heelwork, SFE and recall, then was a brat and lied down in sit stays. This time she had no excuse to, unlike our first trial where the weather was terrible and a shepherd got up beside her. The only thing i can think of that made her lie down, is that she was half asleep about 5 mins before stays. I'm finding it really hard to make her stop dropping in sit stays, because she basically only ever does it at a trial! At club trial class shes fine and at home. I know she knows how to do it, she just chooses to be lazy at trials! What should I do!!? Our next trial is at the German Shepherd Club of SA, and we are entered in novice because apprently I'm doing the balmead sheild with my club. Jess should be okay in novice, the sit stays are the same length of time so thats ok, I just hope she has a good stay, because she i know she can do it, she showed me at munno para trial a few weeks ago. HELP! She stays at club and home! WHY NOT TRIALS!!!!!!!!
  9. I think i kind of disagree. Jess is my first dog that I've trailled and I would seriously be lost without my club. Also when Jess was in puppies and grade 1 etc, the stuff they taught then really helped with climbing up to trailling level. I think it really depends on the club, but I think my club is a lifesaver Actually I'm kinda confused on wat this thread is about. haha. Is it for or against clubs? I have a really simple mind that gets confused easily haha!
  10. I'd just pay for junior membership this year. Then pay for the normal one next year. You've got til May to be a junior lol so make the most of it lol (cheaper membership fees )

    Snoopy

I still can't believe he's really gone.. RIP Snupps.. you beautiful boy, I'm so glad I got the chance to meet you. Sam, we are all here for you. Snoopy would never have had this life if you hadn't have adopted him. You gave him the best life he could possibly have. We'll miss you dearly Snuppie.
  12. Just a question, if I were to start flyball with Jess, where would I go? I think Dover Gardens does flyball, and Para District. I'm not thinking seriously on doing flyball, maybe one day once we've got agility and obedience under control (aka never ) Any help?
  13. I know who you are talking bout And she had pleanty good enough reason to leave! Good on her for leaving I say, If it was me I wouldn't have stuck it out that long Thanks everyone for helping her
  14. My border collie loves to lick too. I'm not sure how to stop it though.. its really annoying! and shes about 20 months old now! Its not use telling Jess off when she licks because she gets scared and licks even more! sorry can't help you..
  15. aww.. poor Ness. I hope she's feeling better soon
  16. I'm entered in that one!! Hopefully Jess can hold her sit stay this time!!!!
  17. haha yeah I remember now! when I got home my feet were numb! my socks and shoes were soaked thru!! When are you gonna trial Kenzie??
  18. What breed of dog do you do agility with?? I bought a kids tunnel from Bunnings for $10, works well as a agility tunnel. Both my border and golden fit thru it, goldies are a bit of a squeeze, but he goes thru it well now. Jumps: many different ways of making them. Mine are two pieces of pvc stuck in the ground parrlell, with nails to hold the bar on. Weave Poles: you can just stick pvc pipes in the ground, works really well. And I got my chute on ebay. This is a video of backyard agility with my dogs, with my home made agility equipment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDBf3FJAN5Y...re=channel_page hope this helps
  19. Jess, my Border Collie, and I had entered our first obedience trial on the week end and Dover Gardens Obedience Club. In CCD. We got good scores but she broke her sit stay I think we did pretty good for our first trial, our scores were: Heelwork- 28/30 Stand For Exam- 10/10 Recall- 19/20 Stays: - i think that was our scores any way. Who else went to this trial? Who passed? Who had fun in the rain (haha not me!)? I put a video of us in the ring on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMzWVeMgwzQ thats the link
  20. See you there, I'm entering Izzi & Pebbles in the CCD, Pebbles will fail because of her non/stand for exam. but the more we do the better we'll get :p . I'm getting very, dog stuff, busy, we're doing our first herding trial on the 2nd & I've seen other obedience trial we might enter. I might be going... either this one or the one at the GSD club on the saturday... depends which day my mum is working. It will be our first trial now that we've got all our dogs sa stuff organised haha! Jess will probably fail to cos of her stand for exam too! Which she was great at before the christmas holidays! Now she moves at least 2 feet! Any one going to the Norlunga trial in June??
  21. How far away is Dover from Woodcroft area?? I was looking at entering a trial there.
