My OH pretends not to love Molly - but deep down he adores her. When he thinks i'm out of earshot i'll always hear him calling her over, and doing his crazy voice 'Moooo-llllieeeeee aaahhhh Moooolliiieee' plus he pesters me all the time to go on outings with her - he quite often takes her out by himself and comes home with a little smirk on his face, and starts telling me stories. My OH tries really hard not to show his soft side - and of course, Molly worships the ground he walks on Very tired on Molly's first day at home...... and Molly's most favourite spot in the whole world....

it is quite good. It actually seems that the tiny little dogs that are in that dog park are actually less friendly than the others. We took Molly in there once, and it wasn't good. So now she stays in the big dog park. To be fair to her, she is used to big dogs as she spent the first 6 months of her life with a Rotty, so she's very comfortable around bigger dogs.

i've always been a bit wary of dog parks, but we have a really good one about 2 mins drive from our house, that i will take Molly to once a week for something different. It has a little dog park & a big dog park, which i think is really good. I've only had one bad experience there with a keg on legs chocolate lab that was entire and OBSESSED with Molly. One quick word to the owner about keeping an eye on his dog was all it took. Apart from that, everyone at the dog park is great, most people just do laps, and i can honestly say i've never actually seen people stand around and chat. It's not the most friendly dog park in terms of people meeting each other, but to me that's good - because they can actually keep an eye on their dogs effectively. Some people will make comments about others dogs if we walk past each other 'oh she's gorgeous' etc but that's about it.

a very very happy birthday to the most beautiful, most talented Misty. she is an absolutely fantastic ambassador for our wonderful breed! SB - give her a big hug from Molly and i.

i only signed up yesterday for pet insurance - i went with Pet Insurance Australia. I went with the $500 excess option, costs me about 14 dollars a fortnight. This option gave both accident & illness cover, with 100% rebate. Also excess is per condition not per visit. I'm only concerned with something that will cost major $$$$. I think it depends on what you want cover for. I also looked into the Medibank Private & Petplan, but i found Petplan pretty expensive, and Medibank was good, but i like the plan that i got through PIA.

thanks for all your responses - very much appreciated. I think this is the plan.... Tonight when i get home from work the OH will spread the fertilizer, and water it in. Hopefully we will get a bit of rain tonight as well. We will keep molly inside all night (as we do every night due to potential toad sightings) and in the morning with on lead wee breaks. Turf is being laid first thing tomorrow morning. That should hopefully minimise risks.

i couldnt find that label anywhere on the packet. It does say non-toxic... but is that non-toxic to humans, or to everything?
-
Thanks Erny - i searched the forum but couldnt find anything! I worry about Molly ingesting, or getting the pellets caught in her feet etc.... i'm such a worry wart.

ok, so i've done a search and came up with nothing, so i'm calling on all you DOLers to help me out. We ripped up our turf the other day (which was more like dirt) and we're re-turfing with couch grass on the weekend. However i have a problem. The OH said that we need to fertilize... but i'm a bit unsure as to whether lawn fertilizer would be a hazard to Molly (which i imagine it would be), or if anyone knows of any dog friendly fertilizer, or a way to get around it. The OH bought the pellet variety today, a brand called Scotts, and i went to Bunnings after work and found NOT ONE bag had any safety information regarding animals. The OH seems to think that if we put the fertilizer on in the evening, water it etc, and keep Molly inside for the night that it should dissolve and be ok for her to go out to the backyard again in the morning. Anyone have experience or knowledge with these types of things - i certainly don't!!!

World Dog Games On Ch 7 Right Now
kitty replied to shoemonster's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
i just finished watching it - i absolutely LOVED it!!! Most riveting TV in a very long time! I now want to get into agility more than ever, and would LOVE to know more about flyball - that was seriously exhilerating stuff!!!! -
no fur coming along with it.... skin looks clean around it. It's seems to be dry as opposed to moist.... i'll just keep an eye on it, and if it gets any worse or doesn't clear up in a couple of days, i'll take her to the vet. thanks guys!

thanks Persephone - i'm about 95% sure they're definately scabs - i dont know of anything else that would crumble away like that! My first reaction was that it could be a tick, but i had a closer look as possible and everything just looked like scabs. I'm guessing if it is because of the flea, she is having a bit of a flea allergy. I don't know how else to combat them, she gets her monthly treatment and capstar as soon as i find them. Off to search the wonderful world of DOL for ideas. Is it possible that it could be anything else??
-
Ok, so i'm probably panicking or being overly paranoid, but i just found a bunch of scabs (well at least i think they are) in a line about 3cm long behind Molly's ear, at the back, almost on the bone. (if that makes sense) They seem to be a little sensitive to her, and they are crumbly - for lack of a better word, and they seem to be coming away quite easily, leaving pink fresh skin. She does scratch there quite a bit... i found a single flea on her the other day, and dosed her with Capstar, in addition to her usual monthly flea treatment. Should i be worried - is there anything else that could cause this, or would it just be from her scratching???

what a great improvement in a short time... he looks so much happier in the more recent photos!

Molly 1) Molly's favourite food would probably be sardines - she adores them! 2) Molly was originally called Ellie - she is even registered as Ellie, but as soon as we got her home we knew she was a Molly. Funnily enough, every animal we've owned was originally called Molly, and it didn't end up suiting them.... but Molly suits her name down to the ground! 3) Molly loves keeping me company when i have a shower. She'll sit on the bathmat, and sometimes she'll 'roo roo' at me while i'm in there. When i get out, she goes crazy licking the water off my legs... 4) Molly's favourite toy is her flea (s) - she has a mini one and a standard one (both pink!), and she absolutely adores them. She has to have one in her crate for bedtime, and one near the door for when we get home, so she can squeak it in excitement when i walk in! 5) Molly can open her own crate. We have a soft crate, and she moves the zipper down little bit by little bit until she can get out. She only does this in the morning though, so she can jump on the bed for cuddles 6) Molly is the happiest girl - despite her sad little cocker face, she's just always so happy and care-free. 7) Molly snores like an old man when she's really tired. There have been nights when i haven't been able to tell the different between the OH and Molly snoring 8) Molly is secretly a daddy's girl. The OH isn't a HUGE fan of cuddles or licking etc, and Molly loves nothing more than racing up the stairs with me on the weekend to wake the OH up from his sleep in, jump on the bed, and wake him up with a barrage of cuddles and licks 9) Molly absolutely loves watching the world go by. Part of what we looked for in our new house was a window for Molly to look out of. Every morning and afternoon it's a safe bet that Molly will be sitting in the window... just watching 10) Molly thinks she's a kitty - she sleeps on the armrest on the chair, and sleeps on top of the couch, just like our cat. She doesn't have very good balance though, and she falls off the top of the couch all the time. She'll attempt to walk across the top of the couch to follow the cat, and she doesn't get very far! (10 & a half ) Molly is my absolute world, and she is my heart dog. The joy and happiness she brings me is indescribable, and i'd be completely lost without her!

my mum sends my sister to school with conditioner still in her hair. If she finds a couple of lice on her, she'll douse her head in cheap conditioner, keep it tied up overnight, which chokes and drowns them apparently, and no more new ones can jump on because they don't like it. My sister has bum length hair which is really fine, so lice combs are SO painful for her!
