  1. Can you make it to Kepala in March, we can have a join B'day party for the girls.
  2. Ah, yes, well she isn't a model Collie as far as the ears go. They are supposed to be folded at the tip, but I didn't encourage them - bit of a naughty Collie owner in that respect.
  3. Looked to me like she was too busy thinking all of the behaviour was cute and funny and not spending enough time helping each dog adjust. Personally that toy, which the sheperd clearly coveted would have been removed from the situation and less attention paid to the sheperd. The way she spoke to the shep was kind of in a 'look at that little troublesome intruder, he's coming to take your toy and my attention off you'. Hope Whippy was ok, but a sad result and you can hardly blame the sheperd based on that video alone. Mind you, it was only a tiny snippet of interaction.
  4. Hi all Well after a tumultous year with Bronte's health, between skin issues and a fractured growth plate, my obedience super star (yep promoted to Class 3 yesterday) turns one today. Averaged over the year I think we have been to the vet nearly fortnightly. However she is a dream dog, with a beautiful temperament, a real keeness to work and loves me to bits, which is good given I love her to bits too. Just a couple of photos from the last year. Three days after coming home in April 09. July, the goofy adolescent stage. Uh oh, fractured growth plate in August, she was the perfect patient. Looking like a real smoothie in November. Discovering her inner sheep dog last weekend. And finally...see next post....
  5. It wasn't a typo meaning 2 labs was it? One black and one gold/yellow?
  6. Very jealous, crossing my fingers I get that op this week.
  7. Baby brag from us, not of the competition sort, but still.... Today we started back dog club after the holiday break, Bronte's social activities didn't allow us to start any earlier in the month than this. Well we got promoted from Class 2 to Class 3 - whoo hoo!!!! She was such a super star, amazing focus and great great heel work. Things are looking good for our intentions of entering our first CCD trials later this year. A big thank you to Cosmolo who was giving us 'home schooling' over summer, as it was described by the trainers today.
  8. Love the fourth pic Pip. She looks so happy to be with him and her weel little sleepy smile shows it.
  9. What about a Home Alone Tug Ball? She can tug and play and wear herself out, and get the occasional treat at the same time. You just need somewhere to hang it outdoors.
  10. God, now I'm confused again. A tri Aussie would be lovely. Plenty of time to decide though, perhaps I need to include some Aussie breeders in my research visits. I've got four Collie breeders on the list, why not add some Aussie ones too. If anyone in Vic wants to recommend some breeders that focus on breeding for dog sports, feel free to PM me. Won't be looking for a puppy until late this year, early next year so pups on ground not required. Now look what you've done Tess!
  11. Phew, thanks Huski, I was getting panicked then. He is just the cutest and the fam seem to think he's a bit of alright too. Can't wait to meet him Cos!!!!!
  12. Cos, this is fantastic news, congratulations! But, I can't get the link to work, am I just a Technophobe or is there a problem, I want puppy pics
  13. Easier to find than I thought...excuse the retro hair and fashion... Introducing my Dad and the dog he never wanted a thing to do with, Walamara Zodiac Magic, aka Sasha.
  14. I don't have pics, but my Dad never ever wanted a dog and when I was 21 my Mum and I finally beat him into submission and finally let me get one. After a year of research I finally brought home my Dobermann Sasha. Well the rule was that she was to sleep outside and he didn't really want to have anything to do with her. She slept outside until she was desexed at six months when he took pity on her and said she could stay inside next to my bedroom door until her stitches were out. She never slept outside again. This was the same man who used to buy an extra flake on fish and chip night, for Sasha - he even shredded it up so that it would last longer when she ate it. What was he thinking, she was a Dobe. He also loved buying her lemonade icey poles on hot days and holding the stick for her to lick it. Somewhere I have a pic of him holding her on his lap, but its on old fashioned negatives, so I'll see if I can dig it up and scan it in. BTW, I was thinking tonight that many of the threads have been same same of late, I'm so glad I stumbled on this one, its been a brilliant read.
  15. Ouuuuch, poor Pucky. He looks like he's being a good patient though, but such an annoying incident. I generally train my girl at a park with a basket ball court and we move between the surfaces, grass and court. Well some moron has smashed glass all over it, so guess who is taking her broom down there to clean it up this weekend.
  16. Hehehehe, go the smoothie... Nah, if you want a change, you should have a change. I've PM'd you with some observations of Bronte and her interaction with other breeds.
  17. Are you feeding tinned or fresh fish? My girl enjoys both, but I have recently just put her onto whole fresh sardines and she loves them, especially their crunchy munchy nature. I just buy them live frozen in bulk at the Vic market and defrost a few overnight.
  18. I'm going to bring this up with my vet as Bronte's skin has flared again, unfortunately after a really good run, but does anyone know if dogs are often allergic to cats? There is no consistency to her allergies, she was no better at all on an elimination diet of 12 weeks, but her skin may vast improvements during Jan while off the elim diet. It just kind of got better of its own accord. However now its been declining again since early Feb. Her skin reactions are always in different places so much so that I describe it as a 'roaming' reaction. The one think I have noticed is that she is generally not itchy off the property and so I'm wondering if my tooty pat (cat) may be the problem. Also, unfortunately I haven't dragged the vaccum out for two weeks - I know I'm a grub, but this means there is more hair around than usual. I'm actually taking next week off to get my life it order since work took over in Oct, and this week will include springing cleaning the house and getting a few quotes out for new flooring - want to get rid of the carpet in the bedrooms and cover my tiles. Hopefully having different flooring will help with hair pick up in general and her allergies. But cats? Really? Does anyone have a dog with this problem? Ready to be educated.
  19. Just too cute. I hope when I get my next dog Bronte looks after him as well as Thomas has cared for Tana.
  20. ooooh squishy dogs! If only I didn't have such an aversion to drool. You could use the poodies as drool rags Very brave Danois , funny, but still very brave. I expect PF is just wiping the coffee splurt off her keyboard right now.
  21. Hi Tess! Hmm, you and I have been thinking similar things of late, although I'm not so sold on the long hair thing. My next WILL be another Sm Collie, but after that - much much after that I'm thinking either a Standard Poodle or a Sheltie. Is a Sheltie too small for you? Or perhaps too much like a Collie?
  22. Not that I know anything about this stuff, but I prefer the first shot. Overall it really appeals to my personality as I apart from my pets I love to just be alone and this picture shows someone alone, quiet and reflective. I guess they are calm and at peace which is another way of looking at it. I imagine that person looking out over the edge in wonder at the beauty they see before them.
  23. SP I thought that Bronte would run away too as she is a really soft dog. She wasn't the slightest bit worried about the sheep and kinda got that she was supposed to go up near them. She was more worried Daniel the trainer, he's a 'man', or in he's terms a 'bloke' and 'men/blokes' are scary sometimes according to Bronte. She got over that pretty quick though, think having the sheep there distracted her. Bark, yep we got plenty of that, but not when she was in with the sheep, but when she was bored and watching the other dogs have their turn. Damn that Collie bark can be high pitched can't it. PMing you now. I think Nessa & Bronte MUST be separated at birth she is the same when she is bored/waiting around (and yup, high pitched!!), she's just started obedience and is fine when doing stuff but OMG having to wait a few minutes?? BOR-RING lol. SP, where is Nessa doing obed? I'm going back to club on Saturday, I haven't been yet this year, I've been having some private sessions instead which have been great. But we also go to Werribee for training in more of a distracted environment.
  24. Ok the general topic is not funny, but.... :D Some people are just too stupid ;) :D ;)
