  1. Great to hear DR. He mellowed a little at Kepala when the other dogs ignored him and kind of let him just tag along a bit. Here's hoping in a few months he'll have established more self confidence and will accept other dogs around him, even if he's not that interested.
  2. Just down around the corner and down the road from you, hi there. Looking at the latest pics of the litter posted, I'm in love with dark green, so cute and cheeky. I also went and met the litter I'm picking from yesterday. At only two weeks old they are really imposter guinea pigs, but still amusing. The only boy is significantly larger than the girls, being the first born. We are still being kept a little in the dark on the coat types though, so not sure how many I'll have to choose from just yet, but anywhere up to four.
  3. I'll be there Jules. Bronte hasn't been on stock for a few months now, so she'll be a little exuberant (and loud) the first couple of runs I expect, but I think the weekend will be good for her.
  4. KG, there was a thread about this not long ago, but I didn't read it so I have no answers. Perhaps try some keyword searches, hmm, that could be amusing after a few drinks.
  5. Oh god, why not. I'll give it a go, I'm just hoping I remember to do this, I tend to get distracted by 'life', no really unfortunately work often gets in my way, but its worth a try. My theme will be 52 weeks of animals. Mostly I think it will be Bronte, Lara (cat) and the new puppy yet to be named, who will be home in Feb. But I might also add pics of my horse, or others and other furry/feathered friends.
  6. Good luck to all of you doing your ET in 2011. I was considering it, but I just won't have the time I don't think. Between a new puppy, Bronte's CD and HSA, my (crazy) work, designing & building a house, finishing an Adv. Diploma and relatives from overseas, I don't want to over commit, whoops too late. Maybe 2012 with Bronte?
  7. Oh, gorgeous puppy gidg, she's lovely. Oooo, standard poodles are my fav. I fell in love with them years ago when I was walking a family friends black standard. She had clearly had a lot of obed training and was such a nice dog to be with. She was called Fleur, which suited her down to the ground, even with very basic pet clip.
  8. Kyliegirl hang in there, it can get good very fast. My Dobe only woke up twice the first night I had her, then every hour on the hour the second day and after than never woke during the night again. Mind you in saying that this was about 16 odd years ago now when Dad made me have her sleep outside, luckily I could hear her kennel from my room though. Now puppies sleep with me in the house in their crate, how times have changed. jrm88, is that your poodle pup to be? What size ?
  9. Great minds think alike, well maybe just similar minds....my first thought was Peach Park too.
  10. kyliegirl, I'm with LoveLea, I have Dobe envy too. He is just beautiful If you've mentioned before I apologise, but which breeder is he from? Oh man I want a cuddle and Dobie schnozle snuffles.
  11. Look its not unusual. If you don't pick up the pup when its ready to go because YOU aren't ready, I get it. However it sounds like in this instance the pup has been 'sprung' on you so to speak, otherwise you would be waiting until June right? In that situation personally if I were a breeder (which I'm not) then I think its a little unfair to then lump you with the extra charges. But your general assessment sounds right, if the breeder normally sends them to their new homes at 8 weeks and you aren't picking up until 10 weeks, then its two weeks boarding you pay.
  12. No real answer for you here, just sharing my experience and thoughts to give you a different perspective. My girl is a house dog, but she does herding, obedience and dabbles in agility. I'm getting a new pup in the middle of Feb, but I purposely waited for her to be close to two before I got another dog. I didn't want to tempt the naughty hound gods by having two very young dogs at once. Its up to the individual of course, but I really wanted Bronte to have very well established behaviours and training before I got another one. Now I know I'm ready to be able to focus on two dogs, and she's old enough to also benefit from learning some patience when I do have to focus on the pup. She's a very well adjusted dog with other dogs though. May be worthwhile to see what your dog is like with the influence of a friends trustworthy dog, to see if she is really attentive to you when another one is around or if she just loses her brain. Bronte is all about me even when other dogs are around, although she does enjoying playing with others. That might help you make the decision. Two young dogs together too early in their training may be more full on than what you want to commit to, although it does sound like you are quite involved with your dog and perhaps its just the challenge you're after.
  13. If a dog sits in the forest, does anybody see it?
  14. Ditto I also like "the sheep do not know the dog is only chasing and biting in fun". Clueless!
  15. Gidg that's very exciting, I hope you get some sleep over the next couple of nights, because you will need a little store of that for the first couple of weeks. Cute baby, little boy or girl? Have you a name picked out as yet?
  16. "Only six" - love that! Off to hunt down the herding one.
  17. Flat collar and lead, for training, trialing and general walking. If I'm bushwalking I'll sometimes put her in a harness, just so I don't jerk her neck accidentally if I'm being a clutz - last bush walking attempt before I got Bronte I broke my arm which gives you a hint of my nimbleness (not!) That being said when we are scrambling up and down rocks or steps if I ask her to 'wait' she will wait for me to catch up and then go on, she doesn't pull on a harness.
  18. Found it! The DOLer call name is Fattima. Their deaf girl truly is wonderful and well adjusted, perhaps drop them a PM.
  19. Cosmolo has some experience working with deaf dogs. I'm trying to remember the DOL name of the owners of the dog. You'd never know she was deaf, she responds hand signals, don't think they use fancy lights and things. If I can find the DOL name I'll let you know.
  20. She's singing - Lal Lal LAAAAAA!
  21. Very cute d_g. I love the coat on the face of the brown and white, its looks really brushed and Ewoky. Black and white is very pretty though, is that the girl?
  22. Bronte loves presents too. She is awesome at unwrapping them. Please excuse Dad's dodgy happy snap, he's actually a very good photographer but it all goes out the window when he's using a point and shoot.
  23. Merry Christmas Troy - thanks for keeping us honest!
  24. Well I think the wait will be worth it, he looks gorgeous AND he does dishes, what more can you want in a puppy!
