  1. Jakemon, Tess is on my list of girls names too. But I'm pretty sure that this next pup won't be a Tess. Sweet little girl isn't she.
  2. Keep an eye on the DOL Social pages as there is generally a thread put up a couple of weeks in advance. Its $15 per dog/puppy and the humans either bring a plate for lunch or $5 per person. We book out the lagoon area, a big run and generally there are other runs available for us to use. You can either join in with the bigger dogs, which is ok when the numbers are small, but if the group gets big, we'll find another run for the puppies to play in. Generally they mix very very well, but I know that some of us are more cautious that others (me included).
  3. Puppy?!? How exciting! Will he/she be another Smooth Collie? off topic a bit, sorry. Yep another Smoothie, too hard to go past at the moment. Most likely a he, but possibly a she, should l know in another week and a half as to which one he/she will be. The Collie is such a brillant, easy to live with, under rated breed that I want to promote it in the dog sport world, especially the wash and wear Smoothies
  4. I know the Roughs don't capture your heart, but what about a smooth Collie. Tick all your boxes :D I only have a large courtyard too, outside exercise is what keeps her happy. I don't always recommend my preferred breed, but you have pretty much described my girl to a tee, so why not, indulge me.
  5. Might just have to steal that Std Poodle pup from your Kirst. I think we will have to have a second puppy run at Kepala though, some of the bigger dogs don't get 'play gently' and I'm not about to risk 'puppy'. But we have plenty of room, so that will be easy to organise.
  6. WA, I just bumped into Lappiemum and hubby in the butchers, I heard they very close to joining their new homes. My pup and her little girl will be able only a few weeks apart in age, so we can feel puppy play dates coming on. I think that you deserve a reasonable amount of time to go out and do puppy shopping. Halo simply can't have second hand, its just not right!
  7. In Vic and their website used to have a heap more pics on, but this group have a great rep. http://www.puppybars.com/index.php?option=...=5&Itemid=3 I've seen many variations of the finished product and all look excellent. They custom make too.
  8. Hi all I'm refreshing my goals, given its still January I don't think I'm being too cheeky. Agility may end up being pushed down the list a little with our main focus on herding and obedience. Bronte: - Train for and gain her Herding Started A title on sheep. Start some training on ducks and cattle. - Gain her CD title. - Start training for her CDX - out of sight is going to be a challenge for us - mummy's girl! - Start agility training and just generally learn a heap more about the discipline as its a little foreign to me. - Maybe try a tracking workshop or two, initially for fun to try it out and see if we like it. 'Yet to be chosen and named puppy': - Basic obedience and plenty of socialisation. - Introduction to sheep and watching, watching, watching the big dogs work the stock. - Gain his/her Herding Instinct Certificate.
  9. Thanks Monah, she's a great little dog. Now Bronte is a dog with a work ethic, she just kept working and working at herding today. Somewhat unusual for the breed to go on and on like she did. Loving the full clip out of the Std Poodle, that's my sort of clip, nice and even. Hmmm, Husky the beauty of your research is that you have started so early, gosh you sound as organised as me. You'll have plenty of time to find yourself the perfect breed. Its just the waiting that's the hard bit.
  10. Sorry to hear this Gayle, its a hard time at any stage of their life, but at that age it must be very difficult to even comprehend. I wish her a peaceful journey to meet our dogs on the other side and hugs to you.
  11. Its a shame your further north. There is a lovely blue ACD going around the UD ring in Vic at the moment. I can't remember her name off the top of my head but she seems to be a good little worker. Have a look on YouTube for ACD's doing agility too. There are heaps of video of them doing it in the US, of all places. You could also consider another dog sport with one too, Herding
  12. Are Pointers and Dallies very drivey? I know they are relatively active breeds. I actually quite like ACDs, but not sure I could own one. Though the well bred ones I love have temperaments that quite appeal to me. I like Aussies but they are probably a bit too common for me (kinda like BCs, Goldies, Labs etc). At the moment a working line ESS is probably appealing to me the most, I've never even considered them, but they seem quite lovely and on paper are ticking all my boxes. I know nothing at all about them though. Damn it, I was going to say ACD until you said this. They tick everyone of your boxes, are you sure???
  13. Awww, Columbia is very pretty, I like, I like a lot. I got to see the litter again today - yay! They are four weeks today and starting to look like little Collies now. I have two front runners (Sable boy & Tri girl), the breeder has her eye on one for herself (Tri girl) and the fourth one (Sable girl) while very sweet is just too quiet for me I think. I'm not going to post pics until I have chosen a pup, so it will be another couple of weeks yet, but trust me, they are cute.
  14. Oh, if you insist. My terrible two, they were only babies when they did it 3 years ago (still haven't fixed it). And they look so unassuming too, cheeky buggers.
  15. Good god, you can't post a picture like that without posting a picture of the culprit/s .
  16. Didn't find the answer on the website, so I'll ask the question some of us want to know here instead. I just made an internet transfer donation to Pacers, how do we prove the donation for the tax man? At the end of the day, I just want the money to help some soggy doggies or other animals, but it might encourage more donations if we knew. Thinking of you all up there
  17. PF, I was thinking the same. Being in Vic, my best opportunity to help is a financial donation. Perhaps MDBA Pacers is one answer here: http://www.mdbapacers.org.au/index.php?opt...1&Itemid=50 Edit - Got distracted by work crisis, but snap!
  18. Just been looking at a US site and found this page, I remembered your thread and thought you might like to have a look. http://www.backcountryk9.com/Boots.aspx
  19. Loving all the photos everyone. PP, that second photo is heart melting. Kirst - Yay for the golden pup, you have been waiting a long time already. I've got my fingees crossed for you too. Really looking forward to watching those Lappies grow up!!
  20. Herding camp was awesome. Bronte and I only worked on sheep as I wanted to consolidate what we were learning. Great improvement for both handler and dog thankfully. I had some 'aha' moments and got more of a handle on my own positioning. Just need to work more on my trust of her and improve improve improve all the other things we learnt. I'm sure the others will pop by at some point to give you their updates. Dog is stuffed and I'm really tired too, but also wired from the work we did, so relaxation time for me will come a bit later on tonight, someone else on the other hand has nailed it.
  21. Lobostar - Love your new sig! I have to wait another week to see puppies again:(, but atleast I'm distracting myself this weekend with a herding camp.
  22. jrm88 - I'm in love, that first black face is stunning Jakemon - Is that a little Cattle Dog I spy. I've never really seen one that young before. Its great how her tan markings are like a shadow at the moment, like its teasing you with how bright its going to be.
