  1. Love the photos everyone, those Std Poodles are just adorable. If you want to see what I've been up to today, check out the Waiting for Puppy thread - page 181. Hopefully see you at Kepala in April, I've got 'non dog' plans for March already - a rare event. PLEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEE bring the Poo's to the April meet. ;)
  2. Hi all - photo time. Ren is home and has settled really well. He has met and had a little game of tug already with Bronte and also met my cat Lara, who has resigned herself to the fact that 'this one is here to stay too'.
  3. Ohhh, WA, she's looks so much like the perfect little lady. Loving the Gordon Setter pics, they are such a good looking breed. Yep, tomorrows the day, pick up in the morning. Everything is ready to go here, although in this house everything is always ready for the furry friends, I'm the one running second best behind them. Try and get photos up later tomorrow afternoon or night.
  4. Squeeeee, loving Tess, she's so pretty, but her cheeky streak shows through. Its official, I AM VERY EXCITED!!! Pick up on Sunday morning and I'll try and get photos online if not by Sunday night, then Monday. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Hehehe, Corvus all of the claims on my girl have come from people with their own dogs at the park. I wouldn't claim to know all the dog breeds either, but some of them just make it up to sound like they have a clue, que the bloke that told his mate she was 'clearly' a GSD X. They do make me giggle, but I'm always friendly and explain to them she is the lesser known coat variety of the Collie, I'm all about promoting the breed and educating people. Edit - Actually I freaked a guy out at the dog park a few months ago. I asked him which breeder his Swedish Vallhund was from, he was gobsmacked that I knew what his pooch was.
  6. Bronte has been confused/incorrectly named as (in increasing order of frequency): A GSD X (because she has black in her tail and is clearly has GSD in her, heaven forbid she actually be a smooth shaded sable.) A fox (admittedly she did have a very foxy look as a little pup) A Greyhound X Border Collie (pointy face means its a Greyhound X you see) A Border Collie - because that is the only type of Collie you know God, what will the neighbourhood think when I have two of these hybrids????
  7. Hi there SuperM. I'm not sure I can advise you because I'm still a novice at all of this, but I'm going to wait until Bronte is going really really well before I do our HSAs. Given we now have access to all of these new training skills and with the March clinic I'm going to try and reap the benefits of that so that our Started title is a real clean and sparkly achievement. I think it will also help me get a real handle on what quality have and maintain with the puppy's training.
  8. Forgot to add I saw Ren yesterday. I forgot the camera (idiot!) but he's now 7 weeks old and has grown so much in one week, it was ridiculous how much they have grown. Even the littlest girl is so much bigger now and almost caught up to her tri colour sisters. One more week to go!!!!
  9. Oh, I like the richness of the tan points on girl 4, I'm a sucker for deep tan on an Aussie. One of Kerry's pups eh? I'll be looking to see which you get. Are you thinking of doing any herding with your pup?
  10. Employee or not, you are owed funds that are due to you for services rendered, the Small Claims Tribunal is were I'd be headed... I'd also check out whether they can hold you to the 'no poaching' rule if they haven't fulfilled their side of the contract - probably still can though. I think $35 a day is a really great price for in home care btw, you may not be in it for the money, but more of these services are required, so perhaps it could become a more regular hobby. Just a thought though, do you think the company have been delayed or hampered from holding up their end of the bargain to date by any flood impacts?
  11. Tess - I think you have aptly added to her name, she looks like she is going to keep you on your toes, but man is she cute.
  12. I hope she makes that date, its Bronte's second birthday!!! That would be very special.
  13. That was ace TSD. Good to see all the pooches being co-operative most of the time. Ziggy looked especially well behaved, especially at your 'Zig watch'. I'd love to do something like that with Bronte, but I think that it would be just too many strange things going on for her to cope with. Maybe little Ren will grow up and get the opportunity one day.
  14. Bronte had an action packed 2010, so after the Croydon trial we focused on FUN!!!! We spent the rest of December walking in the bush, playing at the park and just generally took the pressure off. In the second weekend in Jan we attended a herding camp and most of this month has been herding focused. She is now starting to ease up on her speed, showing good distance work, some nice stops and last weekend some amazing yields. Mind you, we don't necessarily get these things all at the same time, "that's asking a bit much mum". Just started some obed training in the last couple of weeks and its going ok, but I haven't ramped it up much yet.
  15. Love Slinky's name, so fitting. A friend of mine has a Staghound, Whippet, SBT X and they know who 'created' (as opposed to bred) the litter so can confirm the cross. She's chunkier than Slinky, but still a streamlined kind of way. Her brow is much more upright than any straight sighthound x, so you can see the SBT in her face. Slinky looks much more Greyhound with a dollop of something else 'sighthoundy' rather than SBT. Great looking dog, hope she brings you many happy years of frienship.
  16. By the way peoples....introducing Foxbell First Romance (pet name still to be decided). He is just perfect and I can't wait to bring him home to meet Bronte in two weeks time.
  17. Oh my god, I've been stalking the Giday website for a year now. Great sport dog breeder, are you planning any activities with Leo?
  18. Looking forward to watching her grow via photos on DOL. What a little puddin' she was as a tiny tot.
  19. jrm88, he's lovely. What's his registered name? I like Leo, its a good solid boy name.
  20. I answered the poll with herding in mind rather than obedience. I've always loved obedience and that was partially why I gravitated to a working dog, as I wanted a smart dog but relatively easy to train. Then I heard about this herding thing for people without vast tracks of land and flocks of sheep. Bronte's aptitude for it now has me hooked and we have added that to our ever growing dog sport list. I think the thing with us is that I don't have just one dog sport addiction, I like many, and luckily Bronte is very adaptable and a good all rounder, so we can do a bit of most things, rather than just commit to one. I think I like my animals like that, my best horse was an excellent all rounder too.
  21. Love catching up on the photos, I've been away from DOL for a few days. So WA, have you got her yet? I take it you are so enamoured and busy cuddling her you haven't time to swing by. See the litter again on Sunday to finally CHOOSE!!! Gosh the 5 week old photos were gorgeous though, can't wait to find out and let you all know which one is going to be mine.
  22. Ok, I won't be there and I'm bummed that I won't meet Ruby and the 'yet to be named Std Poodle', but I'll be making my own fun as that's the day I pick up my 'yet to be picked and named puppa'. :D Have fun everyone and we'll see you soon.
