These are the 3 recipes we use: 1) We buy the liver already sliced so we just put it on an oven tray for 15/20 min @ 200ºC, let cool, chop it in small cubes and keep in the fridge or freezer (its moist'ish' but not sticky). This is our favourite as it is very quick. 2) Process liver in food processor until smooth (+- 800g). Add 1 cup of oats or oatmeal and 1 cup of cornmeal and mix. Spread on a cookie sheet. Bake in the oven for 25-30 min @ 200ºC. After cutting into squares, store in refrigerator or freezer. Creates a bread like texture treat. Sometimes we add tuna and egg and Pepper loves it. 3) Boil sliced liver for 5 min. Remove liver from the water and let air dry for 15 min. Place them on a cookie sheet or tray for about 1hr @ 200-220ºC. Makes dry and semi hard treats. We open all the windows and keep the aircon on during the entire process

A few minutes before the alarm goes off in the mornings we usually hear our dog entering the bedroom and invite her to jump on the bed for a cuddle. I love waking up this way! She leaves the bed when we say "off" =) The other day she was not feeling very well so we let her sleep in our bed and she woke up very cheerful, yay! On the other hand I woke up with a sore neck & back. She is 32kg and takes a lot of space in bed =p

The anal sacs normally empty and refill every day. When stools aren't firm enough, however, they don't exert enough pressure to empty the sacs. This causes fluid to accumulate, making the anal area itchy and sore. It is considered that diet is the main cause of the anal glands not emptying naturally and problems occurring. Eukanuba does not provide a balanced diet. Like Odin-Genie suggested I would try Artemis dog food. Just remember that changing the main ingredient of your dog's diet (e.g.: brand of dry dog food) should be done gradually and over a period of at least four days (preferably longer). Example: On the first day of change, you should have plenty of the old dog food left. Add three quarters of their old food, and one quarter of the new food. You should do this for at least two days. After two days or so, add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half new food. Again, keep it at this level for another two days or so. Then add in a third quarter (one quarter old, three quarters new), and finally you can phase out the old food completely. This worked for our 14 month old Lab x =) No anal glands problems here.

What Do You Feed Your Dogs

ARTEMIS Fresh Mix Adult (No corn, no wheat, no beet pulp). Our 14 months black Lab x has been on Artemis Holistic dog food for over 3 months now and she has such a soft and shiny coat (you really notice the difference) and I know it’s because of the high grade ingredients of her Artemis diet. Only the best for our Pepper =) I like to add a little bit of tuna and fruit to make her meal times more interesting (about 10% only, as the Artemis food is quite complete). She seems to love it. It was recommended to us by a friend and animal behaviour specialist. She gets liver and heart (blargh!) as treats; a big marrow bone every week; and a cream cheese stuffed kong every day. Wish she could be vegetarian like me =p
