  1. Yeah...gotta admit its pretty nice...especially after a long day at work! Not always great though as its surrounded by dairy farms. Sometimes you take a long rambling walk then turn around to come back to find a 100 or so cows between you and the carpark...and I am abit scared of cows!!! Jane, however, LOVES the presents they deposit!!!!
  2. Wow JJ 8 at least!!! Whens 'D' day???? TLC...whats going on....no holiday snaps???? And for your viewing pleasure...Jane...doing things shes not really allowed to do...sigh!
  3. Just like to share a few pics of a regular walk Jane and I take. Apologies for the quality...it was early evening.
  4. Hey Tim and Tanya...Did you all enjoy the Mastiff day out. Surely Bruno won the award for cutest and friendliness!???
  5. Jane was a shocker with this problem but seems to have grown out of it now(at 7 months). She really only started to do it at about 5 months. Seemed to be at the end of her walk and when she caught sight of the lead out of the corner of her eye. Same as the others...mouthing the lead led to stop walking, no eye contact ect. If she started tug of war then I would follow her so the lead was never able to be pulled tight. She would then lose interest in the 'game'.
  6. Thanks for the info about the boots TLC. I got some waterproof hiking shoes and guess what...not waterproof!!! Mind you, it takes a hell of alot more walking in wet grass to get them wet but I was alittle disappointed. They are alot better than normal runners though! Guess I'm after a miracle...I'll look into the Rock River Hikers. The assesser can out and checked on the damage from the tree so hopefully the damage will be fixed soon...gotta fork out the $300 excess first which I am more than annoyed about! Don't mind it being our insurance as it our house but reckon the person who owns the bloody tree should have to pay the excess! When I take over the job of Boss of the World I WILL be making some changes to the rules!!!! Just read through what I just wrote and I am sounding like a misery guts so please fill free to tell me to buld a bridge and GET OVER IT!!!! On a more positive note, TLC...Have a wonderful holiday with your family and GO....Bruno at the show! And....no....trying hard but can't do....really sorry but I just can't hope the Pies will win!
  7. Love the look on Mingaloo's face! I'm thinking I need to change lives with you guys...even with the keys incident! Had an absolute crap day at work so decided to take Jane up the mountain for a walk and ....it RAINED again!!! Just when I was kinda almost getting used to dry feet. Which reminds me to ask...any suggestions for good comfy waterproof footwear for long walks in long grass!?.
  8. Well if we couldn't be there, at least I get to enjoy the piccies!! Just didnt feel like a proper Sunday without training and the walk! Thanks very much for the offer, J.J but all went well. The next door neighbour got a tree lopper in ( must have cost a fortune on a Sunday!) as the rest of the gum tree was severely compromised and he is gonna take away the branches that the S.E.S cut up on our side of the now smashed fence. Found out two lots of guttering were damaged and maybe some timber underneath the guttering so will get quotes tomorrow. Turns out we have to claim on our insurance even though it was the neighbours tree as its classed as 'an act of God'! My friends in Pomborneit had a blackwood tree topple over and block their driveway...It was MASSIVE! The scarey thing is that it must have fallen minutes after my sister and neice drove outer of there. Jeff, the owner, reckons if Leigh had glanced in her rear view mirror she would have seen it fall!!! Took all morning to cut it up and drag branches into the paddock and there were 5 of us doing it! My other friend just on the east side if Mt Leura lost 5 or 6 huge trees. Some up-rooted and others sheared off half way up. Looked like the aftermath of a cyclone and her road was blocked by a massive up-rooted cypress. The farmer ether side managed to clear a section near a smashed farm gate so she has access out otherwise she was cut off as she lives at the end of a dirt road. I had to walk half a km to check on her and the kids last night as power and phones were down! What a weekend!
  9. I'm afraid Jane and I are out for tomorrow. I was really looking forward to it but we got massive wind gusts here this evening. A large gum tree from next door dropped a branch (basically half the tree) on our house. Not much damage thank God...ripped off some guttering and the S.E.S had to come and make it safe but it means a large clean up is on the cards for tomorrow. Friends in Pomborneit also have a huge tree blocking their driveway and another friend thinks she has 4 or 5 trees down in her yard so once we finish at our house we will be off to help out at their houses. That walk at Killarney sounds bliss...oh well! Have fun everyone...I'll think of you while I'm pulling splinters!!!
  10. This would be my top 'wish list' breed of dog to own and we looked long and hard into getting one but were put off abit by the high incidence of cancer in the breed. Having just PTS my 14 year old girl, I couldn't bear to think about losing another at a relatively young age. Just wondering if my research was accurate?
  11. Hey Tlc...I'm fine with Killarney if thats where people want to go! Love exploring new places and the driving dosent worry me at all! Good luck at the Royal, J.J and hugs for Tarni...poor baby! Bet shes grown heaps! BTW thats a small hint for pics of your three girls please

    At Witts End

Hi MR BUSY...Welcom to my World! Jane sounds very similar to your dog and the best thing we did was get a pheromone diffuser that you plug into the wall. Apparently it mimics the calming pheromones the mother dog gives out to her pups. Its odorless but has worked a treat with our very hyper-stimulated pup and has enabled us to actually enjoy our beautiful dog. We can know pat and cuddle her without her getting over excited and then esculating into DOG from HELL! Apparently it can take up to a month to work but with us, we could see an improvement from the first day. We have now had it for a week and while we still do loads of training with Jane and she is still a naughty 'out there' pup,she is, for the first time, able to RELAX with us! Check it out...love to know what you think!
  13. Don't worry Bruno...losing 0.5kg means just a small meal and a large poo for a big handsome giant such as yourself! Besides, Jane loves you just the way you are! On a more serious note...Have fun showing off your lovely Bruno at the show, Tim and Tanya. It will be awesome being around all those Mastiffs
  14. Great photos AGAIN TLC! I especially love the shots of Jane...Of course....and the one of you and Cooper sharing an icecream is classic! If I did that with Jane I'm sure half my face would be missing! That pic of Miggy is unbelievable...I can't get over the muscle definition! Beauty and strength and dignity. Such a powerful shot. Thanks for a great day too...Jane and I are happily tired!
  15. Yeah, TLC, Jane and I will be at training on Sunday. We have spent the last 2 weeks trying to train Jane to walk on a loose lead consistently with, dare I say it, varying degrees of success! We have also had a DAP diffuser going at home over the last few days to see if she can have a go at RELAXING so hopefully Sunday will be good...maybe! Be interesting to see what the turn-out will be due to Father's Day.
  16. Well if he can't be an RSPCA poster boy then what about a greeting card...that pic of him would be just right for a 'sorry I forgot your birthday' card or a 'Good Luck we are going to miss you" card!
  17. That photo of Sniff....Could he be the next RSPCA poster boy????
  18. What a cool dude! I love the look on Bruno's face!
  19. Jane and I hope you had a great day Bruno (need pic of Bruno with Party hat on please)! And sweet Lele too! Thanks for the explanation re breeding J.J...looking forward to those pics when you get a chance! Tlc...You amaze me with your talent with that camera of yours...plus your models are beautiful!
  20. Happy birthday Bruno! Hey J.J...just interested in hearing what you like to breed for in your dogs that isn't necessarily what is expected in the breed in general?!?
  21. Sorry J.J but I giggled all the way through reading your post...You are indeed a brave soul and probably 2 feet taller with all that mud on your shoes! Naughty Tarni but you gotta admire her spirit...everyone looking so glum so she thought she would liven things up abit...bless her! Enjoying the pics of your walk(s) Tlc...What a difference from the beach I took Jane to in Melb yesterday! You forget how wonderful the beaches are around here until you go to a bayside one!
  22. Hi all. Came home from Melb late last night as I decided to cut to visit short due to frail parents and not so frail dog. I thought it would be a good idea to visit with Jane but as she is at her most manic from about 6pm onwards, I left just after 7pm for home. Went for a nice walk this afternoon with the Black Menace and FINALLY managed to remember to bring the camera. Just posted them on the photos thread if anyone interested! Looking forward to show news and to walk piccies!!
  23. good luck this weekend J.J. Hope its not another 4.30am start again for you all. Hudsons a full on cutie...those ears are amazing! BTW...How did you go with the job interview from a few weeks ago?
  24. Woo-Hoo!!!! It worked!!! Very very patient of you, tlc Thanks!!!!
  25. BUGGER IT...I'll have another go tomorrow!
