Just wondering what everyones' opinion is on letting your puppy sleep in bed with you. Right now we are crating our 10 week old lab, but in the morning if she wakes up before my alarm goes off, I take her out to go pee and then I let her sleep the rest of the time in our bed (usually no more than 1 hour) She seems so much calmer when she is in our bed and I know that a lot of people let their pets sleep with them. In fact, dogs we have had in the past slept with us and once they were bigger, they went and slept on the floor. Am I doing anything wrong by letting her bunk down with us. She still goes in her crate without complaining whenever we are going out for a while.

So I took Harley to the vets last night and he said he would just do the second puppy vaccine since she was at least 6 weeks when she had the first one, so I was very glad to hear that. Now she will just need the third shot plus the rabies shot (not sure if they are given as one needle or not) The vet was very pleased with Harleys' disposition, so think we are on the right track. She had put on just under 5 lbs. in 3 weeks so I was thrilled with that. Thank you for all your advice and I'm glad this worked out in the end.

Her first shot was 3 weeks ago (Feb. 25, 09) but she was only 6 and bit weeks old, that's why my vet wants to do it over again, said it's better for her immune system. I'm not paying anything extra for the office visit since it's her first one with this vet anyways. I just didn't want to give her a shot if it could do any harm.

Our lab puppy received a vaccination at 6 weeks and then we brought him home with us just past his 7 weeks birthday. On the vaccination sheet, it says she is to get another shot at 10 weeks, 13 weeks and then at 16 weeks. I was always under the impression that they were to get three shots, not four. I have an appt. at my vets on Wednesday and he said she should be vaccinated again as if she had never been in the first place. I am not sure whether she should have this shot again or move on to the second one. Anyone else ever been through this and what did you do. The shot she had was the Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parinfluenza and the Parvovirus Vaccine.

Our 9 week old lab puppy is chewing and biting on everything, especially us and kids. We have tried ignoring her, yelping like a pup if she bites us and she just does not seem to care, it actually seems to excite her more. Do puppies tone this type of behaviour down any time soon, is she doing this because she is a pup or did we get a monster for a pet, lol. Any advice would be great. I should mention we have lots of toys for her, nylabones, kongs, ropes, etc. She chews on them for a millisecond and then comes searching for a chair, table, arms, legs, you name it.

Increasing Amount Of Puppy Food I'm Feeding Our 8 Week Old Lab
martymonty replied to martymonty's topic in Puppy Chat
The breeder was feeding her 1/2 up in the morning and 1/2 cup for dinner, I've increased ever so slightly, but like you said, she is devouring her food, I don't want her to be fat. I take her to the vet on Wednesday, but you can tell she is def. gaining weight and filling out. -
Hi Just wondering what the best way is for increasing our puppies amount of food, she seems to be VERY hungry so I think she may need more. I added extra food to her mealtimes last week and the poor thing got massive diahhrea, it was just pouring out of her. I don't want that to happen again. We have her on IAMS puppy smart dog food but are looking at possibly changing her to the more organic types of food since they do seem to be better for dogs.

She's eating twice a day, I had tried 3 times as recommended but then she got mass diahhrea so I went back to twice a day. I am feeding her what the breeder was giving her, just not sure it's the right one. I have an appt. with the vet on Wednesday and am going to discuss the possibility of switching her food and seeing if this does not help. He's going to do a test for worms as well since she was only dewormed once.

Can someone tell me what is a "normal" amount of times for an 8 week old puppy to poop. My lab is pooing at least 10 times a day and I think this is excessive. What could be causing her to poo so much and should I maybe think of changing her food, we have her on IAMS puppy smart food.

I am just very curious to get everyones opinons as to when a puppy's bladder can hold urine for more than 20 min. My little lab is peeing ALL the time, every 15 - 20 min. even though she sleeps through the night (so she can obviously hold it) She is just 8 weeks old so I'm thinking I should notice a difference in the next month or so. She also pees constantly if people are over, not total peeing, but she starts to dribble and then we have to run to take her out. Please tell me this will end soon, I have had lots of dogs before and DO NOT remember this being so hard.
