But kennel cough is airbourne so even if the dogs do not mix or interact can it not still be passed around a boarding kennel.

:D This is the true story of a garage owner in the east of Northampton who gave his dog a haircut. He was sick and tired of thieves breaking into his garage shop to steal tools, etc. So he came up with this idea to give his dog a haircut. He put the word out that he had a new Mexican Lion that would attack anyone that tried to break in or climb his fence. Would-be thieves saw the "Lion" from a distance and fled the scene.

OMG, thanks for the replies. I have not been able to check until today and I did not expect that many replies. reading through it appears to be a mixed bunch some are happy other are not. I was just putting the question out there for a bit of market research as we are looking at opening Kennels. Some replies assumed I meant board the dogs with others, there is no way I would do this. I was trying to get an idea of what pet owners thought of the idea of SUPERVISED LIMITED play time with others of a similar nature in small groups after the dog had been assessed. Supervised means supervised not just left alone whilst staff sat and had a cup of tea. Sometimes people have no choice but to board their beloved pet, anything can happen, we had to fly back to UK for family emergency and had no choice, no family here to look after him and yes we have friends but I could not put on these people for 4 weeks and also we think what if he runs off from friends we would feel bad and so would they. The kennels I put him in were good, he was kenneled alone but had supervised play time with other like natured dogs, four was the max. There is any interesting boarding kennel on facebook Royvon Kennels. www.facebook.com/DogHotels/photos it is a boarding and training establishment and they put hundreds of photos on facebook, I must say I am not sure I would run this many dogs together but in some photos you see 2 staff and then there is the person with the camera, they appear to be always busy with boarders or training so they must have a good reputation. Anyway thank you everybody for all your replies (taken on board and digested) Ps sorry if I didnt do a link to facebook properly.

Hi all, I am just trying to find out thoughts and numbers and gauging opinions. If you were putting your dog into kennels would you like your dog to be able to socialise under strict supervision with other dogs of like nature during the day but obviously for fixed durations so that all the dogs get rest time. Do you think it would ease any separation anxiety the dog may feel.

Toowoomba Area Obedience Classes
cliffandmandy replied to netballfan's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We have some people come down from Toowoomba to train with us at the Agility Dog Club of Queensland on a Sunday afternoon/night. We are an ADAA club and don't focus on obedience, but we will certainly be able to help you stimulate your boy's mind! (I have 3 BC's - 2 almost 5 and one 12 months TODAY!) Let me know if you want more details. Can you tell me where the club is please -

On the course at the moment, really good, bit daunting when the package arrives with all the dvds etc but it does start to make sense. You are lucky that the block weeks are held at kennels in Caloundra so you wont have far to go from Palmwoods. -

Have you spoke to the owner and advised them, they may not be aware how bad their dogs are (tongue in Cheek) but they may not know their dogs can bite under or through the fence -
Check out clark rubber and make it yourself with a bit of help from the sewing machine

Are Certain Weedkillers Dog Friendly?
cliffandmandy replied to kirsty79's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry dont know the answer but as I would like to do the same with my lawn , I thought I would bump it. Just a thought is there not an advice line phone number on the packaging. -
Sorry I have not replied to any suggestions, its a bit hard getting onto the computer these days, All is back to normal on wee front, yes Alanglen you were dead right it was straight after beach, we did wonder if its the salt content that could throw them out but all ok now and no more problems even though he has returned to the beach and tried drinking it dry again. Also the amount of sand that he brings back I am sure the environmentalists would be complaining about Stanley Thanks again to everyone that offered suggestions.

I have had a bit of a search but was wondering if anyone has any ideas. We have a 6 month old Lab Stanley, he has just started urinating in doors, He is crate trained and toilet trained (or so I thought). Today we have come back from the beach and short while later I noticed small multiple puddles of wee. I took him outside and he had a good long wee, it looks clear and no smell (no I did not have my nose down whilst he was busy). Later on whilst I was out and the OH was with him she noticed he did the same again. There does not appear to be any discomfort when he wee's He has had his bits done and had his stiches out just over a week ago, wondering if he could have a UTI but as said he is always clear looking and what has happened indoors has no smell. Any thoughts

I shall be there on Monday to watch and try to get some tips before Stan is set loose and probably expelled. Again can say heard good things with Jenny Smith, I am thinking about contacting her to get some one on one before I start the classes in August but I dont know if it would be a bit insulting to her knowing that I am going to the classes.
-
Hi Neats, I know what you mean, I called in on Monday to enrol Stanley for classes starting in August, I then stayed and watched, I loved their coats . There was a new class doing the orientation and next Monday is their 1st day with the dogs, I will probably call in and watch so I can see if Stan is going to be the worst behaved on his 1st day .
-
Now I know why you were up at 5am . I have phoned Balinger road and they are taking names for August, this probably works out well as it gives me a chance to request not to work Monday evenings.
-
Hi Neats, thanks for the info, I will try to contact Ballinger road, the only problem I have is that I work shifts so I cannot guarantee I will be able to get to every one which would be a shame. I was speaking to a lady the other day who gave the name of Jenny SMITH from Caloundra area, I assume this is the Jenny you are talking about, its good to hear that you have also heard good things about her and considering I have a Lab pup she maybe the one to talk with Thanks again Cliff & Stanley the choc lab.

Hi all, I believe it is time I was trained!! Are there any recommendations for any dog trainers or obedience classes in the Caloundra area?

Snap Stanley has just lost his bottom front, Mother even placed it in a small box for keepsakes I think he was a bit miffed that the tooth fairy never called. I thought he was getting better with his mouthing and chewing and I believed it was because of the constant "OFF" and ignoring him for a while, you have just burst my bubble.
