  1. Looks like you all had a great time a honeymoon made extra special with the inclusion of your three very photogenic furkids!!
  2. A beautiful, heartwarming story, I am in awe of how that little family beat all the odds and found rescue Nice to see a happy video of Pitbulls for a change
  3. Rest in Peace poor little Hamish the poor woman must have felt so helpless as her beloved little companion was attacked
  4. Oh thats awful for the little guy to see his pet eaten in front of his eyes. I caused my son a similar trauma when he was young, one of our horses had to be put down and the zoo came and took him away, my son kept asking where was Socks, I told him that Socksy had gone to the Adelaide Zoo, when we visited the zoo he was very excited as he thought Socks was going to be an exhibit I had to tell him that Socks had been eaten by the zoo animals. In retrospect I could have done a better job with the whole situation
  5. Finally a bit of common sense in the BSL arena, there seems to be a slight move away from breed targeting in the USA and Europe, lets hope this sets a precedent and other councils/governments are brave enough to repeal their BSL legislations. Way too late for thousands upon thousands of innocent dogs killed due to discrimination and hatred
  6. I dont know how I managed to miss this thread until now Anybody interested in doing some ferreting in the Adelaide Hills please let me know. The bunny population on my property is okay at the moment but I know some warrens nearby on a neighbouring property which the farmer would allow to be ferreted as he has let me hunt there with my dogs previously. I haven't seen ferrets at work for years but I enjoy watching any animal doing what it is bred for and a good ferret is worth its weight in gold, I had hunting dogs for many years and only a couple of years ago lost the last of my big Staghounds, she was from a coursing line of dogs and she was the most efficiant bunny hunter I have ever had the joy to watch. I would rather eat meat that has come from a hunting expedition than an abbatoir killed beast any day
  7. This post should be pinned and read by anybody considering breeding"only for the pet market" as people who are buyig purebreds as pets are the backbone of anybreed, nothing sells the general public more on a certain breed than healthy, happy family pets out in the community They are the true ambassaders of breeds as most of the population dont go to dog shows. Please dont breed for the sake of breeding, in the end it is the dogs that pay for peoples mistakes and flights of fancy.
  8. I now avoid shopping at Marion shopping Centre due to the pet shop there, I even wrote a letter to the centre management telling them they would not have my custom whilst they had puppies in the pet shop, I am quite sure they would have thought I was a crazy dog lady and not been at all worried about one less customer but surely if more people shared the same sentiment they may take note :D The final straw was one day I was walking past the shop and in the front window they had a litter of Red Kelpie pups but had labelled them as minature Kelpies ;) When I questioned the sour faced woman behind the counter she told me that they were very rare and the colour was most unusual and they only needed low to moderate exercise unlike"giant" Kelpies ;)
  9. I have just been outside feeding my old horse(he's 30) To read this makes me sick to the stomach, that poor horse died in such a horrible, cruel manner, no animal deserves to be illtreated and tortured by some sick b@stard who doesn't deserve to walk amongst us. Rest in peace Cachet
  10. Yogi and I will be there, anytime is fine with me, I will go with whatever suits people
  11. Aargh Earl Fingers crossed he will have no problems with the candle holder passing through safely. You will end up living in a minimilist house like mine if he doesn't stop his destruction We only have two lounge chairs left thanks to Abbies soft furnishing fetish. I have given up on furniture until she stops her appetite for destruction
  12. Oh no Earl, dont be giving your family an awful fright am so glad the big doofas is okay, him and Yogi will be able to discuss their disasters next time they see each other to you and your family/
  13. Beautiful photo's of two very beautiful Whippets I find Whippets and Bullies are a match made in heaven, when I take my guys out I often get told they are an odd combination of breeds but it works well :D
  14. Sending my prayers to Mia for a full recovery. big hugs to Charlie who must be very worried about his sister.
  15. I feel that is an overly broad, sweeping statement inspired by the typical scare mongering of the media, I doubt that you ever liked Bull breeds if you are so easily swayed by hearsay and Murdoch journalism
  16. Who's 'poodilfan'? Do you mean 'poodlefan' - who I don't think deserves the small-minded tag btw - or maybe 'poodiful1'?? Edited: "snap" pf Or maybe Poodlifan is a new hybrid poster? Yes maybe, they like crossing their breed with all sorts of stuff dont they?...labradoodle,spoodle,cavoodle,stupidoodle etc... Not nice when someone makes generalised statements about your chosen breed & its owners is it???? :D I sure hope you aren't blowing rasberries at poodlefan poodlefan has always been a supporter of Bull breeds and very anti bsl
  17. Firstly I would like to say it is wonderful to see Jed back to help bring logic and a cool head into the Bull breed threads, always knowledgeable and a light in the darkness of ignorance People can and do stand up for Bull breeds not to cause arguments with the ill informed and ignorant but because all dogs deserve to be given the chance to be judged individually on their merits not lumped as a dangerous dog due to breed/size/socioeconomic bracket of their owner by the media and assorted dog haters
  18. Chained dogs are a major factor in dog attacks, the dog is more defensive due to not being able to move away from a situation and their flight defensive being taken from them means that their fight instinct comes to the forefront. I also would have thought a dog handler would have known better
  19. We went to the vets this morning and had the drain pulled out, he is healing well but still on mega doses of atibiotics, I am giving him yakult to try and save his good bugs from being nuked by all his drugs. He is a bit of a whinger about being crated and I have set my mattress up on the floor next to him at night as he wasn't happy about me and Abbie on the bed and him in the cage. Here is one of the less gruesome photo's of his injury
  20. Run free Ace, Sounds like he lived every pound dogs dream, to end his life surrounded by a family that loved him, I am sure he will be waiting for your sister at the bridge
  21. My friend and I were showing her Borzoi on Friday at the Adelaide Royal and happened to mention that when a particular breed is in the ring it usually means the row is empty except for a dog or two and gear, bags etc how easy it would be for athieving mongel to steal things, I never thought of a dog being stolen :D
  22. Great news! Find yourself someone who makes pig dog breast plates and get a Whippet sized one! Not a bad idea, I have been trying to think of how to make his jacket more like a body armour, I could help owners of other tissue paper Whippets if I came up with one
  23. Great news, Yogi is back home and tucked up safely in his crate, although he wants to get out and play with Abbie he is under strict house arrest for the next two weeks, he is letting us know he is not pleased with this situation and I think he will need lots of distractons to keep him amused. The vet said I am very lucky to have him as it was so close to his lung and his lung collapsed during surgery. I am going to be scared to let him back out in the garden after this horrible accident.
  24. Back from the vet, I am lucky to still have him I think, apparently his lung collapsed during surgery and he had to be ventilated(?). He has lots of stitches and a couple of drains still in but the worry now is infection but I am hoping this is only worse case scernario. He is staying in hospital for a couple of days and then home. Thankyou all so much for your very kind thoughts and well wishes, it was a long, upsetting night last night made a little easier knowing there were many caring people giving positive thoughts to Yogi. I am now off to work for a few hours.
