  1. This is what the boys looked like on Sunday. Was so funny as so many people asked if it was their natural colouring. Was good for a Laugh. Ash...
  2. Sorry you have had this horrible thing happen to you and your puppy. I believe it depends on what time of the year it is, as to how long you wait to introduce another puppy into the affected yard. As it is coming up to summer it is a good thing, as sunlight will help kill it, as will what ever chemical you use... And as already posted. 12 weeks old or older with 2nd vaccination would be ideal. I would still speak to your vet for advise, but because summer is around the corner, with a bit of luck they might advise 6-9 months instead of the normal 12 months. Good luck but dont rush things as you would not want to go through this again. Take Care Ash..
  3. In My Opinion no one breed is going to save you. My old dog trainer use to help out the Vic Police with Dog Training. Out of about 50 dogs ( sheps and rotts ) only 4 or 5 would cut the mustard. The rest would attack the owners when in trouble.( Fear ) They had no idea but were on our streets protecting us. lol So don't rely on a breed to protect you. If you feel the need to be protected by a dog, choose the a dog and have it trained correctly by the correct trainer. Just my opinion. Ash..
  4. Funny you say that coz Zues has 3 buckets of fresh water available at any given time, but if I let him in the pool area, first thing he does is drink the pool water as if he prefers it too fresh water. I am not sure how strong your water is but it might be worth taking a sample to a pool shop and asking them to test it. They will do it for free. They will tell you how many parts per million the chlorine is. Then you can search to see if it is safe for dogs to drink. Good Luck Ash..
  5. Never mind the cute puppy......I'll just have the green stuff that the whole shebang is on top of thanks! And here I was worried about Ish and the bush fires -- have a look at the green grass
  6. If you know someone with a Horse, then a lunge lead is a handy tool for teaching come Have a distraction for him, then call out what ever command you are going to use, running backwards you can praise him as you reel him in. Have seen it used and can recommened. Ash...
  7. LMBO happens to the best of us. Tohko had me fly like superman one day. We went camping and as I got him out of the car, this dog came running up to us, I held Tohko close but as this dog ran between my legs I jumped up so he could go under, JUST as tohko lunged, I actually flew through the air, Elbows bleeding and all. Was not funny at the time, but I wish someone was Recording it.. Ash...
  8. Curious as to what others do when walking their dogs. Do you let them walk at their own pace. ? Let them Stop, Sniff, Squat and or lift their leg when they want. Or Heal them and control the walk all the way. Or a bit of both ?? As we all know it is good to get your dog out of the backyard daily but would they enjoy it as much if you have them healing all the way.? Ash..

  10. Does anyone worry about Fishing Hooks in some of the fish ??? Ash...
  11. Guess I was lucky ( Or Lazy ) When Tohko was 8 weeks old, I would take him outside before I went to bed being around 10-30pm. He would do number ones straight away. I would give him the command to do wee. ( helped in the long run ) Then he would go to bed in the laundry and sleep through the night until I let him out when I got up which was at 4-30 am. I would then put him back in the laundry until family woke up, then they would put him outside feed him breakfast and there he would stay for the day. He slept in the laundry until he was about 9 months old then decided he would prefer to sleep outside. So I have one that sleeps inside and one that sleeps outside. Ash..
  12. I have still not found a dog food I am happy with. :D Ash...
  13. As far as I know, Parvo has an Incubation period of 72 hours. If your dog has been Vaccinated it should be fine. As for 10 years in the soil. I have heard 12 months without UV light from the sun. I have had a Puppy Die from Parvo, while having a 2 year old dog in contact that had been Vaccinated. ( All was fine with Vaccinated dog ) I Waited 12 months, Bleached everything, got a new puppy and all is well. ( Unless Parvo is related with being slow and dopey ) Good Luck and it would not hurt to put up a sign at the park for some that have not been proactive and Vaccinated their puppy. Ash...

    Bathing

Ha Ha Ha I was ready to reply with advice that I was told years ago. But when I started typing I realised it was for my Car not my dog. But I suppose I will still share To much soap and chemicals to often can be bad. So I was told to alternate between soap and Marther Garndners Eucaliptus wool wash, as it was mild. So I am not too sure if it would apply to dogs.... But I am sure someone else will help. Take Care Ash...
