  1. I know, it's just so unfortunate the people worthless beings that Pittys attract
  2. I think the only thing we can do is carry pocket knifes and stab the attacking dog, how else do you get it off!
  3. OMG!!!!!! That is shocking!!! What the hell is with these owners not even caring when their dog attacks others?!?!?!!? Sickens me!!
  4. All I can say is thank god there's people like you still left on this deterioating planet. Bless you! She is SOOOO cute, I am so glad she is happy now
  5. From the mother in law: "So is she (Shyla) done? Are you going to have babies from her??" :rainbowbridge: :rainbowbridge:
  6. Yay I'm glad she was a good girl! Except piddling on the bed.. wow! With Shyla I give her a can of sardines over her morning mince (like I said b4 it makes her so occupied she doesn't see me leaving - good old super strong smelling sardines! ), a kong filled with peanut butter and a bit of cat bikkies (she loves them, hehe) and I shove a long natural sundried chew stick down in the hole so it sticks out like a pipe. I also fill up her treat ball with kibble. I tried the kibble-in-empty-coke-bottle but I used to come home and it would be untouched! Go figure, haha. I also scatter a handful of bikkies over the floor sometimes so she has to find them all, and sometimes I hide a pigs ear somewhere to see if it's gone when I get home. I leave the radio on so she has constant talking voices/music and she gets a marrow bone a few times a week (some people dont like leaving the bones with dogs unsupervised but Shy eats them slow and careful). We also leave her sticks from outside to chew on and hard cardboard rolls (like paper towel rolls but much harder) from hubbies work
  7. Oh my god, where are some peoples friggin brain cells!?!?!??? WHy the heck would she bring an aggressive dog back to a dog park At least you have her name and number, hmm handy!!
  8. http://aussiedog.com.au/index.php?main_pag...;products_id=30 Wow the elephant ball looks massive and fun! Doesn't say how big it is though (size wise)
  9. I honestly think saying "100%" is just not realistic. People may have dogs with incredible recall and they gloat about their dogs having 100% recall and knowing their dogs like the back of their hands etc, but seriously how are they to forsee the future, to forsee ANYTHING in the future that may one day make their dog stop and decide NOT to recall? Be it fright, distraction, animal, person, noise, scent... To say your dog has 100% recall is like saying you can see into the future. Cos what's to say tomorrow something will happen when they are offlead and they won't recall?? It's just not realistic in my opinion. Fair enough your dogs may have great, fantastic, amazing recall, thats great! I think that's cool as, I really do. But to say 100% just doesn't work with me. I think those with great recall have done a great job at training, don't get me wrong! You can say your dogs have 99.99% recall, I'm happy with that. Just not 100%
  10. Congrats Pockets!!!!! I didn't see you (wasn't sure who to look for ) but well done!!!!! :D
  11. I did notice the hock situation on some of the sheps too, and thought thank goodness my girl doesn't have such exaggerated back legs!
  12. Re marrow bones: Is it true that too many marrow bones (too much marrow intake) can cause difficiencies or health problems in some dogs?? My mum knew a girl that fed her husky marrow bones every 1-2 days and he got an issue (not sure what!) and the vet said too much marrow
  13. I can vouch for this Although a 30 minute walk is even enough to have my girl sleeping all day But if we are leaving her for 9hrs which is maybe one day a week I make sure I give her a brisk 30-40 minute walk, a good game of frisbee and we run in the backyard after the walk, she's usually POOPED after it!! Then she just sleeps/plays with her toys all days indoors (I keep her indoors cos she is more calm when kept indoors) and she's an angel
  14. I seem to have a roach problem inside AND outside: Inside Roaches Outdoor Roach:
  15. What a lovely tribute to a beautiful girl! Gone but never forgotten, they live on in our hearts and minds that's for sure
  16. Week 16 - A quiet time to paws and reflect
  17. Yep when Shyla had bouts of diarrhea I would give her chicken and rice and it would 'bulk' her up and she wouldn't go for 24-48hrs and when she did go next it would be formed
  18. Yeah good idea!! I prefer that better, I forgot a microwave cooks from the inside out Will definitely try the warm water/grill thing!
  19. Hello once again! Well little miss Shyla has gone off her raw food now and finds raw things unexcitable, mostly bones. Tonite she ignored her chicken frames, so I put them in the microwave on defrost for 10 seconds to make them smell slightly tasty, and she ate them right up. Is it bad to warm raw bones ever so slightly as to get them interested in eating them?
  20. Also my problem!! Shyla gets worried if I get a little upset at something, but if she saw me bawling and crying uncontrollably she would be very nervous and apprehensive herself.. I wouldn't want her last moments being like that Edited to add: How often do dogs pass on their own? It seems more often than not people are having to euth to save their suffering and pain, so I wonder if many pass in their sleep or on their own? Just out of interest.
  21. Thats horrible I totally agree! I never knew there was a difference (sedation/no sedation) I am armed with more knowledge now, knowledge I hope I never have to put into decision for years and years and YEARS to come
