  1. Yes we were very lucky. She is the perfect Dog. Honestly you couldnt ask for a sweeter girl. And she is so quiet, she still hasnt even barked yet..... She is even potty trained and will not go inside ;) And yes she'll be very much treasured. It will take time, patience and much TLC but we will be there for her every step of the way.
  2. Jasmine As sweet as honey As warm as the sun a special little Pound dog we know as Jasmine As gentle as a feather silky soft fur I have never met an Angel quite like her Sweet little Jasmine no need to be scared for ever we'll love you for ever we'll care...... Our Friend Why are you so frightened What did they do? to make you so nervous, My heart aches for you. Why do you cower, Why do you flinch? Did you give them a mile, Did they only give you an inch? Why do walk with your head held low? You're a beautiful girl, hold it high, let it show. Now we see you smile now we see you wag slowly I see happy, Replacing all your sad. You are starting to trust let us love you again, We open our home and heart to you, Jasmine our friend.
  3. You could be right ;) I cannot imagine ever saying Goodbye. It would just break her heart - and ours...... I couldnt do that to her. Or my Son. She seems to of been through enough, poor Baby. I think she HAS found her furever home, right here, safe with us....
  4. In the garden enjoying the fresh air - he has little bits of flowers in his hand and she is watching intently
  5. Jasmine watches politely as Jack eats an oreo biscuit Jack and Jasmine chilling out on the lounge.....
  6. Yes I am very fortunate to have 2 babies (one is 3 the other is almost 10mths) both love dogs dearly and Jack who is 3 is so gentle and compassionate with them. He babies them to no end. And they love it - they lap up all the attention and cuddles. The younger one thinks they are just hilarious, he laughs at them. I was watching as Jasmine gave him a kiss on the cheek this morning, he giggled his head off as her chin hairs tickled him. She thought it was great too wagging away....
  7. Jasmine is continuing to thrive and was even playing today. She is still extremely nervous and timid but hopefully in time & with lots of TLC she will come right out of that shell she is hiding in. I dont know what this girl has been through but it is heartbreaking to see her cower so easily, and be so afraid to open up. She will need some time to adjust - it must be so confusing for a dog to be passed around from home to home. :p She loves fresh brisket bones, she's not too keen on chicken, and she also likes the VIP roll. I went out last night and bought her a new red leather collar as the ones I have were too big for her. She has spent the day lazing about with my Son, sleeping on the lounge and making the most of the belly rubs that came her way. She is now fast asleep in the bed. Curled up under the covers. Iam not far behind
  8. Ok OK I surrender ;) no more walks for at least 3 weeks. Sorry to those I offended. In future I will know better. Thank you.
  9. No I am not calling you a liar. Anthing is possible at that Pound and MANY dogs do go unlisted. just dont recall seeing her there, thats all. And yes I do care about Public Safety. What about all the other dogs that are adopted and go home to be walked and introduced to the family resident dog? Jasmine is only one of the many ones who come out of Pounds. She has spent enough time locked away & isolated and so we are giving her the benefit of being part of a family - to be loved again. She is making such good progress coming out of her shell, if I had of just left her isolated outside quarintined from every one and every thing, we wouldnt be seeing these changes - she is only just starting to get some spirit back. When she first came home she was SO scared of everyone and every thing. Now she is feeling more settled she is starting to come out of her shell. She even played today. ;) But I do see where you are coming from and understand what youre saying. BTW those puppies are georgeoooous. Good work. She is lucky you came along.
  10. Yes I agreee most of the dogs I have bought home have had kennel cough. But she is fine. They must have outbreaks or something at the Pound. For a few mths when I visted almost all the dogs had KC, but lately its been quiet, havent heard much of it at all. My own dogs are vaccinated against it, even before I started visiting the Pound, due to the large number I have my vet advised that many years ago. Thankyou so much for your concern though, its much appreciated. If you think so I rescued a Shar Pei bitch from there 8 weeks ago 9 days into foster care she came down with kennel cough Her pups then almost died of Kennel cough Just because a dog is not displaying symptoms does not mean they do not have it Quaranteen needs to exist for a reason, to stop the spread of Parvo, KC and other nasties Your dogs might be vaccinated, but not all are, and not all dogs are not vaccinated due to owner neglect, some have immune diseases which means they cannot be done All dogs being released from pound, especially a pound with a high incidence of Parvo and KC should be quaranteened for 3 weeks I do not recall a pregnant sharpei at BP. I have been visiting each week since the start of the year and have never come across a pregnant sharpei?? And I know they do not have to display symptoms to have KC. I have NOT had Jasmine in with my other dogs and she has NOT come in to contact with any outsiders - she has only been with my kids and I know KC CANNOT be transmitted to them, so I dont feel the need to worry. At the end of the day Jasmine is safe and happy and thats what this is all about - HER! ;)

  12. Jasmine is doing well. She slept like a log last night, and this morning went for a walk in the garden though prefers to be indoors. She wasnt used of sitting on lounges until now poor girl, took some persuasion to get her on it. She is used of sleeping in the bed though and she will continue to do so whilst here. This morning when my Son woke he came in to my room followed closely by you know who, they BOTH jump in to the bed, there we were, Me, Jack and Jasmine under the quilt with her head sticking out. We fell asleep but was awoken shortly after by the younger son, who was up and ready to play. Then, poor Jasmine was laying on the lounge room floor and Jack ACCIDENTLY stood the end of her tail hairs. She got up, didnt even blink an eye or turn to see what it was - she is bomb proof. Makes you wonder what she went through in her 6 years? Did she have a good home? judging by appearance and temperament she did, but she is so shy and so submisive, maybe its just her nature? who knows? She's a beautiful girl, thats all that counts. I find the kelpie x borders always seem to be sweet natured.
  13. Pics to come as soon as poor MM has a chance to upload - I dont know how YET! I'd be lost without MM's help and so would some of these dogs. Thanks MM
  14. I had been watching this girl since she came in. A small Kelpie x Border Collie with one of the biggest hearts I have so far, had the priveledge of meeting. She caught my eye from day 1. Using her kennel mates legs as leverage she stood up and stared at me trembling in fear. Poor girl, I thought and stayed to comfort her. She had the sweetest temperament, so soft and submissive. She stole my heart and I knew from day 1 she'd be safe. I would if worse came to worse and she wasnt adopted or going to rescue would bring her home myself to re home her. Worse DID come to worse and when I visited today was told she was in URGENT need of Rescue. I asked for her to be taken out of her kennel and taken to the exercise run so I could spend some time with her one on one as opposed to patting her through wire. As soon as she was walked from her kennel my mind was made up. She'd be coming home with me. There was NO need to put her in the exercise yard, my decision was final. She is so small and so shy. A very gentle girl. Whislt finalising paperwork, I was informed her name is Jasmine, she is 6 ys old and desexed. When we got to the car she stood up ever so gently and leaned on the drivers door, waiting for me to let her in. I drove home with her on my lap At home she got a good, looong bath. She lapped it up and didnt move once, just stood there and enjoyed the lather up. She was a little shy meeting the rest of the family, but loved them all including my toddler Son. I took her for a long walk to the Park, she enjoyed and appreciated every minute of her new found freedom. She has eaten well and is now fast asleep in the bed with my Son. pics to come When she first came, she barely wagged her tail she was extremely shy but by tonight she is wagging and starting to play too. She loooooves belly rubs and rolls over on her back waiting for them she also nudges your hand for a pat, she is very adorable. Oh and she follows you like a shadow. AND believe it or not, she likes the Sons pet guinea pig. I couldnt believe it when I introduced them. Carefully I might add. They're best of mates. Incredible. so I dare say she'd be fine with cats and other small pets too. She will stay with us, as part of the family until her new furever home comes along........ Listen to me, anyone would think I was a proud new Mum. ETA spelling
  15. 12 months ago to the day I lost a very very dear friend and member of the family. I lost one of my husky girls to cancer. She had been off colour and off her food so I took her to the vet concerned as she was drinking a lot of water and her gums were becomming pale. I arrived at the Vet in the morning and voiced my concern. The vet went into panic mode as Cass was aenemic, they couldnt even find a vein to take blod and by now her gums were almost white. Her belly was bloated and I assumed it was from drinking too much water so they performed a PCV? to see what was going on in there. I recieved a ph call later that day to say it was blood. They suspected a bleeding spleenic tunour and so rushed her to the op table. I will never forget what happened next. I was at home. The phone rang. I knew. My heart sunk as I answered and it was the Vet. She gave me the bad news, Cassies whole abdomen was full of bleeding tumours. There was nothing they could do she was slowly dying. I was devastated, never in a million years when I dropped her to the Vet did I suspect this. Cancer. Although when I think back, she was anxious. And when I called her to come inside before we left for our last drive together, she would not come. At the vet she tried to escape through the clinic door. If only I knew. I can still remember the look of fear in her eyes when I gave her a kiss goodbye and told her I'd back soon to pick her up - little I knew it would be in an urn. :D The vet suggested strongly to euthanaze her whilst she was under anaesthetic. I was crying and sobbing and didnt want to let go. But she was bleeding to death slowly so I agreed. She died at about 1pm. I went to see her later in the afternoon as she rested on the op table. Her eyes half open, I held her and kissed her and cried and cried and cried (crying now as I write this ) She looked to be at Peace. But I felt her spirit watching above, call me silly, but I did. She was only 7 years old. Cassie was from a litter of 3 pups, I was there the day they were born and could not bare to part with them so kept all 3. Cassie was 7 yrs old when she died, he brother Claude died the year before very suddenly at age 6. They have a sister Jay Jay, who lives on and Cassie has a daughter and son who remain with me. They are 5 yrs old. I will always be reminded of Cass through them. Chloe

Beautiful tribute for a beautiful dog. Sorry to hear of your loss, losing a pet especially one youve had so long is like losing a member of the family. I know first hand, how hard it is - and I feel for you dearly. My thoughts are with you and Chloe who I am sure would be smiling from above watching you and waiting for the day, you meet again..... RIP Chloe :D
  19. May Although we barely knew you, You touched us all, in so many ways. I am not a religious person May, But I admitt for you, I preyed. You were not left to die in the hands of a stranger, Or on a cold concrete floor. Instead you were spoiled with lots of love and care, Princess May, you deserved it all. We actually got to see you smile, See a sparkle of hope in your eyes. Now you can rest in peace May girl, No more pain, no need to cry. You left your paw print on our hearts, Forever it will stay. From a sad Rotti girl at the pound, to a Princess we called "May". We are so sad that you passed away, But glad, you got to feel loved. Now you're smiling and watching us, From the stars up above...... Goodbye beautiful Girl. xxxx xxx xx x  :p
  20. Her smile says it all Big hugs & kisses for May!!!
  21. I do similiar for my pack. You can add some veges and garlic too for variety - my dogs love it. Or pasta but I am not sure of the salt content of pasta if any. Next door to the pound is Red Lea chicken - they sell boxes of chicken frames for $10 per box (about 50 in each box) and also wing tips which are great especially for smaller dogs but big ones love just as much for $10 per 5kg bag. Good value when you have lots of mouths to feed..... (They also have wings, drumsticks etc) I also feed fresh raw bones (brisket, ribs and necks) 3 times a week for their teeth - most butchers only charge $2 a bag.
  22. Yeah but you and jdavis play tag team. May has improved since those original posts and before she was under intense care and treatment of the veterinarian. I agree she doesnt seem to be suffering - just look her living it up in the sunshine soaking it all in She even looks happier!!! Good on you May Youre worth it tenfold and special in ways other are not. I am sure there is a lovely family out there just waiting to adopt a girl like you..... Just you wait and see
  23. She's probably never been this spoiled in her life!!! She has reason now, to hang on and not wither or fade away - so glad for her. good work!!!!! But you dont need me to tell you that - you'd know in your heart already.
