This is horrible. I read this story yesterday. Those poor dogs, bailed up and shot, I can only imagine the fear they would of been feeling...

It has been 3 and a half mths since Jasmine joined our family! She is doing fantastic, still quiet and shy but much better to when she first came home. Jack still adores her and knows she is his dog. Last night we went for a drive to Greystanes to see the Christmas lights. Me, Jack and Jasmine. She sat in the middle baby sit, front legs hanging over the front, smile from ear to ear all the way!!! It was a camera moment, but I had forgotten the camera at home. *sigh* Anyways when we got there (this is the house that won the 2GB Christmas lights comp) we got out of the car. There were stacks of people there to see this house and OMG, it was beautiful! Jasmine took it in her stride and pranced along, proud as punch. There was a man with an older staffy there on a lead. His dog and Jasmine were face to face tails wagging. Best of friends. Everyone adored Jasmine. I didnt mention the fact she had come so close to death at the pound. Kids and adults alike were in awe of her. And she lapped up every second. It was cute, as we drove in the car, and would pass a house with Xmas lights, Jack would say to Jasmine "Did you see that Jasmine? - and he would answer himself and say "Oh Ok Jasmine" and then tell me "Mummy, Jasmine saw the Christmas lights too". ;) It was adorable. I had a smile from ear to ear all the way, myself.... -

Jasmine is getting into the Christmas spirit. :D She didnt mind playing dress-ups actually. When we were setting up the xmas tree on Sunday she was genuinely happy. Seriously you should of seen her. Maybe she just senses Jacks excitement??? Then tonight we put some lights :nahnah: & decorations in the window and she was happy as larry, trotting about tail wagging. Its cute. Just like having another excited kid in the house. :p (Ps as you can see I LOVE the Chrissy emoticons ;) ) -

Its been about a mth since I last updated on Jasmines progress, so thought I would today! She is doing great. She has settled in like part of the family, we lover her dearly.... she is the sweetest, most perfect dog you could ask for! I got some pics just now out in the garden. As you will see Jaz loves doing the froggy! whether inside on the tiles, the loungeroom floor or out in the grass - I think she is part frog. :D She is a little nervous around Chloes pups but she is improving everyday. Oh and I googled pics of black border collies and look at the resemblence.... The one below is NOT Jasmine but a PB black border collie.... maybe she is pure? I dont know Iam no expert, either way we love her so.... -
I used Pets at Peace with my 2 huskies.... Claude sits in a little wooden box with a plaque with his name and Cassie is in a ceramic urn behind glass in my wall unit. I also have some of their hair in there aswell. (Claude was clipped days before he died and when I went to say my final goodbye to Cass at the Vet, they snipped a little off for me at my request). The Vet arranged everything for cremation. It cost me about $350 for each. (one was in 2007, the other 2008) They are to be buried with me when my time comes.... all my furbabies will be cremated. After all the love and joy they have provided me over the years, its the least I could do for them.

If she can chew ok - give her some bones. A few of the dogs I have bought home from the Pound have had dreadful teeth - in the way of brown staining. It doesnt take long to see a difference. They really whiten up. -

Caz, why not write to a reputable magazine/newspaper with her story and the benefits of adopting a senior. I am sure your daughter would love to help and put in some input too. (from a younger persons point of view) she sounds like a very smart and caring young lady! I think it would a beautiful story and raise awareness to the oldies out there waiting for their forever homes. What you & your family are doing is so amazing - its such a selfless act. You are the K9 Angel woman!! That is so sweet reading to a deaf dog, but she is right y'know - even though she is deaf, she would take great comfort in feeling your daughter talking/reading to her. (may sound silly to some) but I believe it. Oh and I was the same as you as a kid. Always bringing the strays home. Mostly dogs, but also cats, birds, even a chook once I found on Woodville Rd. It looked ok sunny side up but the other side was raw and riddled in maggots - My poor mum and dad. I nursed it back to health. I called her Hetty the hen she lived with us for many years - poor Dad had to build a chook coupe and we ended up getting her a dozen hen friends.... Mum still brings up that chicken to this day, at least now she can look back & laugh..... I still do the same, for some reason I attract strays of all sorts. Thanks again for what you are doing for this girl (and the rest)..... Oldies are sweeties arent they? they have a certain innocence and wisdom to them - they are gentle, graceful and full of love..... -

She is beautiful Caz - what a lovely save.... Good on you - you have a heart of gold. Plz give her lots of hugs from us all..... -
So sorry to hear of your loss. Below is a poem I was given when my girl Cassie crossed the Rainbow Bridge last year to Cancer. I still cannot read without crying... I thought you might like to read as it is very beautiful Through Lifes journey we took a ride, The times you spent by my side, You were always there as my best friend, But we knew one day, there would be an end, Heavens doors are open, just walk through the gates, In this animal kingdom, sunshine awaits, To a place you can run free, never grow old, A world full of freedom, rivers of gold, Towards the Rainbow, you can play and run, Or in the green fields, you can relax in the sun, Under the trees just rest in the shade, As this is the place, where dreams are made, No pain or suffering exists in this place, Only fields of endless happiness, butterflies you chase, Beyond the Hills, you lead your friends, As my broken heart tries to mend, When I light a candle and whisper your name, This shall become forever, an endless flame, When you look down from Pet heaven, see tears on my cheek, Make me strong, day by day, week by week, When I look amongst the stars for you, I can see you shining in heaven, its true, Just waiting for me, I'll see you one day, But now my friend, just relax and play..... Well Jasmine has settled well. She barked today for the FIRST time!!! Took a while but at least I know she does have a voice box in there. Her and Gypz get along great, much better than I could ever have hoped or wished for. And her and Jack are still the best of mates. :p As many of you would know Chloe (another Poundie ) had 5 puppies almost a week ago. I cant wait until they are old enough (and vaccinated) so they can play with Jasmine too, I think it will do Jaz the world of good to be around some happy spirited pups Jasmine enjoys a daily walk and sits at your feet and lets you know when shes ready to go. Everyone (family & friends) adore her, even people she meets on the street cant help but to fall in love with her soft nature. I am so glad we adopted her and I am sure she is just as pleased..... Jack & Jasmine - taken today - she is waiting for a sultana or piece of dried apricot to come her way Oh all the while getting a belly rub.... and with Gypsy - taken today after they both had a brush Our Jasmine - or should I say Jacks Jasmine
